HTC Incredible :: Serious Lack Of Common SenseUI

Jul 8, 2010

I find it amusing how many Senseless ROMS are popping up. The majority of all ROMS thus far are Senseless and I don't really get it. The main reason I sold my MotoDroid to get the HTC Incredible was for SenseUI and now everybody is wanting to ditch it. I need more Sense ROMs to play with and theres just nothing to choose from. SO I figured I would start a poll and see if I am the only one. So is it a Sense or Senseless ROM preference?

HTC Incredible :: Lack Of Amoled Screens

Aug 22, 2010

Did you see that Bell wireless is discontinuing their HTC Legend phones because of screen shortages. They are not taking any more orders for Legends'. Hmmmm.... makes me wonder how long before our incredible Incredibles' follow. We could soon all be owners of a very rare breed though! Might increase re-sale value.

HTC Incredible :: SenseUI Very Smooth / Good Battery Life

Why does everyone seem to hate SenseUI? I find it beautiful and very smooth. I wouldn't want to remove it when I root my phone. I also get very good battery life after my recent battery tweaks.

HTC Incredible :: Lack Of Camera Dedicated Button

Aug 11, 2010

I have been agonizing for a month between the X and the Dinc. Up until last night, I still had no idea which one I was going to buy. I liked the video capabilities of the X, but from everything I'd read motoblur sucks. Also, for some strange reason I was hung up on the Dinc's lack of a dedicated camera button. I ordered my Dinc at 3 pm today, and I'm pleased to say it will be here by 3pm tomorrow. At which point I'm going to run over my Blackberry 8900 with my car.

HTC Incredible :: Battery Worse - Lack Of Task Killers

Sep 2, 2010

My battery has never been worse since upgrading to Froyo. I don't use an auto task killer but I did use SystemPanel to manually close applications once in awhile. Now that I can't kill tasks easily, I just let everything run to see how it would turn out. I'm not saying the battery life is horrible, but it is noticeably worse now. I realize users experience will vary based on how many applications they have installed and running. I have not installed any new applications since Froyo.

Android :: Getting List Of Contacts On SenseUI 2.1?

May 5, 2010

This is simple enough on every other version of Android, including SenseUI 1.5.

//For Contacts
Intent pickIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, People.CONTENT_URI);
this.startActivityForResult(pickIntent, RESULT);
//For Phones
Intent pickIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, Phones.CONTENT_URI);
this.startActivityForResult(pickIntent, RESULT);

On SenseUI 2.1 (HTC Incredible) this shows a list of numbers (the URI number). So you get a list of 1-200 if you have 200 contacts. Selecting one of the contacts you can then gather all of the information needed. Is there any good work around known?

HTC EVO 4G :: SenseUI Works In Landscape Mode And Kickstand

May 20, 2010

Am I the only one who thinks HTC needs to get on the ball and tweak SenseUI to work in landscape mode? I mean seriously, they built the hardware with the kickstand for it to sit in landscape mode yet the software is stuck in portrait. HTC Desire :: Lack Of SMS Notification

Jun 28, 2010

first of all I don't know if it is HTC's fault of Android's fault. I think it is Android's fault, Ok, yesterday my girlfriend send me SMS. As you all know that the little led flashes for a couple of minutes and then switches off. Hence, I missed that SMS. I was in a meeting So I came from the meeting, took all my gear and left in hurry because I didn't want anyone to stop me and start talking about yada yada yada on my way back to gym. Hence, I didn't check my SMS. She called me which I failed to see as I was in gym and then in shower. Then I went out with buddies to local bar. She tried to send me SMS again which I again failed to see. Now at 21:00, she arrived unexpectedly at my home when I just arrived back a couple of minutes before. Long story short, I was being interrogated that why I didn't see her missed call and missed SMS? As I was aware of lack of SMS/missed call notification, I decided not to tell the truth as she probably wouldn't understand. Fortunately, I had this broken phone prank installed in my phone which I ran and showed her that my phone was broken. I had some stone age Samsung before (BGH-100 or something) which wouldn't shut up till I would see the message. I also had Eten M700 whose led will keep blinking like a nagging wife till I would see the screen.Tell me how can I solve this problem? how to make that tiny little led keep blinking till I see the SMS or I see the missed call? Also, how can I make phone "beep" about missed SMS after every 5 minutes? I am afraid that us men are going to face a lot of interrogations from their lovers at home.

HTC EVO 4G :: Lack Of Multi Touch Keyboard

Jun 6, 2010

I'm sure there is a learning curve to the HTC/Android keyboard. I have an iPod Touch so I feel I have some bad habits to break.While typing fast I find I often miss the space key, (I hit the space but it does not register.) Upon closer examination I realized it has everything to do with lack of multi-touch. If my left thumb is not off the last key fast enough the space bar will not be registered with my right. (if that makes sense.)I'm definitely loving the extra space and I feel like I'm just one hang-up away from being a very fast typer.

I've read numerous reports stating the issue has been fixed but I'm not quite sure what to believe.

HTC Droid Eris : Lack Of Accessories

Why are accessories so scarce.Eris has been out since 11/6.You would figure at least batteries and charging docks would be available.Also with the eris just being a re-branded hero, you would think there would be abundance of accessories.I can understand the droid,because its a completely new device.I know I could just do my research and find out what batteries and docks are compatible, but i don't think i should have to.When i bought the samsung omnia i had no problem finding batteries and docks.It seems like it was a rushed launch, but they been talking about this since the beginning of the year.

Android :: Common Component Externalization

Jan 8, 2010

I am a game developer and have developed a nice global high scores module. The source code is in two different games of mine and anytime I make changes I carefully copy and paste the java files from one project to the other. As I increase the sophistication of this module, the copying and pasting can take a day or two to make sure I get it right. Now I am finishing up my third game and want to add the high scores module, but copying and pasting this in three separate projects seems absurd and will take up much of my time! Is there any way to externalize this module?

Unfortunately, the module makes reference to R for strings, layouts and other resources. It also uses common Android functions and resources from the Android library. Almost anything would be easier than the method I am using now--so any and all suggestions are welcome!

Sprint HTC Hero :: Why To Prefer SenseUI / Stock Android ROMs?

Jul 21, 2010

Just a small discussion. Curious as to why people prefer Sense-less ROM's. Android is the best cell phone OS I have ever used, and I think the SenseUI only improves it, aesthetically(sp?) and socially speaking. The tiny lag my Hero suffers is worth it for all of the beautiful widgets, the launcher, the Facebook and Twitter integrations and did I mention. I have never described anything electronic as beautiful before! The stock Android look captivates me until I use it. It seems so bland and *ugh* to me. And as far as speed goes, the Senseless ROM's I have tried are no faster then the Fresh ROM I am running, and if it is it's completely unnoticed by me. But anyways I am just curious what reasons you have for using the SenseUI or stock Android OS, whether it be for apps to run more efficiently, speed, whatever. Just curious, might try a couple new ROM's soon.

Android :: Terrifying Lack Of Security On Devices

Oct 14, 2010

I've recently bought a HTC Wildfire and absolutely loved it and the concept of android.But as a long-time computer user the seeming lack of security is freaking me out a bit.I've read the guidelines about what services and application has access to, but just about every single application asks for access to things that are worrying.So it's mostly a matter of install and pray.The advice is, to listen to android community feedback about particular applications. Obviously some applications have become well known and legitimate. But unless I'm mistaken, there doesn't seem to be any way to find out if any application is Malware.the only way a person would know, is if they had their identity stolen, their passwords stolen, or money stolen from their bank account.
