HTC Incredible :: How To Turn Off Double Instant Message Notifications?
Sep 4, 2010I did a factory re-set on my phone, and I use Handcent as my preferred IM application. Previously, I had "turned off" the notification sounds from the stock HTC messaging app, but now I cannot remember where I did that. I have gone to settings, but I cannot find how to turn it off for the life of me. Now I get double notifications, and I only want Handcent notifications.

Nov 17, 2009My old phone would turn on, or come out of sleep mode when I received a text message, or any type of alert. Is there a way to make the Droid do that? I leave the phone sitting on my desk and I miss messages all the time because the phone doesn't kick on and I have the volume turned all the way down or off. But if the phone would light up, I would notice that.

Nov 11, 2010I have been having this issue for a while. I was actually hoping that this morning's OTA update would fix the issue, however it did not. I do not know if it is just me or if this is a known issue. Sometimes (about 25% of the time) when I turn on my phone one of the apps on my home screen will automatically start. It is usually my calender app or Documents to Go, but it is always an app on my home screen. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix for it?

What is the default message in the "Edit default message" used for? Right now it says "I am busy right now. I will call you later".
Also, what is the "Edit message" field for? Right now it says "Edit text message before sending". Not sure why these text message sounding settings are in Phone settings.

Jun 30, 2010In the past few weeks a problem has started with my email on the Incredible. In the very first slot I get a weird/strange email. It is not in bold suggesting that I have already read this email. I will delete it and then with the very next refresh there it is again....the same one. That has been going on for a few weeks. Then three days ago it advanced to where I would delete the next three message following this weird one (these three are from normal senders that I recognize). Again, I would read those three and then delete them, along with the one weird one. Again with a refresh the four would be back. I went into the Verizon store yesterday with a few issues and he got the phone to stop doing this.....that is until this morning when again I am getting that first weird email. I wish I had asked him what he did to get it to stop so I could do it myself. I just went to the store here in my town and the place is jam packed, which is usual. I don't want to wait an hour just for this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do?

Jun 21, 2010Only thing I can think of that I miss on my storm. When turning it off, it would alert you it would be turning back on at your alarm time to wake you and would do exactly that. Stock app doesn't do that. I've searched and gone through market apps descriptions looking for this function. At the least I want the alarm to go off when the phones turned off. I don't need it to notify me when its turning on, when its shutting down.

Aug 28, 2010We'll this is a deal breaker for me, after being pretty happy with the RUU update and the speed improvement it brought to the stock music player.When using the turn by turn navigation, every time the voice comes in the player puts itself on pause.After the instruction is over it remains paused instead of resuming.Then I have to manually hit play again to resume playback.This is a big deal while driving since I don't want to be fidgeting with my phone every couple seconds.This was not an issue with 2.1 , since as soon as the turn by turn instruction was gone the music would automatically resume.

Nov 29, 2010in Virtuous Rom 3.1 the Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation voice doesn't work...instead of speaking the directions, the voice rambles on about XML versions and a random website in a slow-motion voice. I'm shocked that I can't find any information at all about this on XDA or here.Does this happen to anyone else who uses Virtuous Rom 3.1? I tried to contact RMK via XDA PM but he hasn't responded yet, sent last night. I would really like a fix for this, Google maps navigation is fantastic.

May 19, 2010My problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.
