I downloaded Handcent SMS and really like it but I do notice that when I get a text notification I also get one from the Eris message app. Any way to turn off the original Eris Message app off?

I just recently did a hard reset of my Eris and while it fixed the problem I had, it deleted some of the original widgets that came with the phone. Like the one all HTC phones have(weather and time). Is there any way of getting them back?

I leave the phone sitting on my desk and I miss messages all the time because the phone doesn't kick on and I have the volume turned all the way down or off. But if the phone would light up, I would notice that.

Is there a way to disable the original Message app and only use ChompSMS?
I have a bit of a dilliema when it comes to texting on this phone. I am coming from a BB curve. I run a small business and I schedule my employees through text message. I do so 10+ employees at a time. The problem I have found with Handcent and Chomp, is that if I message 10 people "Work Thursday at 315" when they reply to confirm, it doesnt show my original message, so I have no idea what they are confirming because Im often sending out many different times to many different people. Now, the stock messaging app DOES show my original message when they reply, but the sort order is all screwed up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAny ideas here? My phone has been acting up lately so I did a factory reset. So far so good with the exception of my 3G. It won't turn on. put the mobile widget back on and it stays in the "on" position, but no mobile network. Went into settings/wireless&networks, scrolled down to mobile network. It says turning on..., but it's not doing anything and won't let me check or unchecked the box. When I touch the screen it just highlights it. I'm really starting to hate this phone.

View 21 Replies View RelatedI had turned off the Eris and when I turned it back on, I get a little icon with a question mark and in Notifications it says "The SD card is damaged. You may have to reformat." The first time I did reformat (after, as I thought, saving everything I wanted to my PC - turns out I didn't save photos ). This time, I'm wondering if it's really damaged or not. Anyone have experience with this? It seems kind of odd.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was looking at the phone info, found by dialing *#*#4636#*#* one button in this is "Turn off radio".I'm interested to know if this could be used to work around the current inability to do airplane mode and enable wifi at the same time on the Eris. Could you use this option to turn off the radio, disable mobile network, and then enable wifi?Has anyone seen if this works, and if turning the radio on and off is as easy as finding this button? I'm a bit afraid to try it myself right now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom day one, everyone in my family has noticed that when I start up my phone it automatically sends everyone covered by my family plan (4 other phones) a blank text message. I've looked for a button to uncheck this feature, but none exists (to my knowledge). Last night I mentioned it to my local service rep and they're at a loss. They've heard it happening, even amongst themselves, but don't have a solution.
Does anyone have any experience with this and have you been able to turn it off?

This helps save battery life and keep from waking you up in case you get an email or text in the middle of the night. Is there any way the Eris has something comparable? I know there is an airplane mode - what is this? Any chance that's what I'm looking for?

Whenever I receive a message though, the sound is VERY faint and almost silent. The media volume is all the way up... Is this a phone or Handcent problem?

I heard that the original free release of this app was 10 times better than the free one available now. I just want to try it with all the bells and whistles before I fork over the cash...
And before you say anything, I am recently very frugal and try to keep my money as long as I can... but I will purchase the app if I find it works nicely.
So idk about you guys but i dont like sense u.i. because of the black bar at the top i just want the gray bar (to me it looks better). So if anybody figures out how to sign a image and it happens to be 2.0 or 2.1 can yall make a post but from what ive heard the HTC has made it to wear the Eris will only take signed roms

It now is on my phone but after it runs my screen goes green for awhile as i frantically press buttons to get it back. I tried uninstalling the app but that didn't get my original animation backk.
