When you click Phone->Menu->Settings,
What is the default message in the "Edit default message" used for? Right now it says "I am busy right now. I will call you later".
Also, what is the "Edit message" field for? Right now it says "Edit text message before sending". Not sure why these text message sounding settings are in Phone settings.

Since the 2.1 OTA, I noticed in my contacts that it shows ALL phone numbers as numbers to send messages to.Previously, message numbers were all set to just the mobile numbers. I don't see any easy way to fix this.

My question is, how do you do this on the Eris? I can't figure it out. Has anyone used this feature?
Did we ever find a fix to keep the phone from vibrating while in a phone call when you get a message?
I don't mind a beep in my ear, but the vibration needs to go.
I'm getting two notifications and only wanna use Handcent. Iv seen this discussed but cant seem to find the answer.

I've edited the post to reflect my issues. Link to original thread: HTC Mail Memory Leak/Bug ("Phone Storage Getting Low") - Android Central Forums. "I have reason to believe that HTC Mail has a significant memory leak or bug which is causing all of the "Phone storage is getting low" messages. I've had the phone for 3 weeks as of this Thursday. My setup is 2 POP3 email accounts configured during the initial setup in HTC Mail. At around 110-115 megs it triggers the "phone storage low" message. The problem is that as far as I can tell, there's no way to reduce the file size of this HTC mail app once this process has started.
I've deleted every shred of email, all In-boxes, all sent, all trash all everything from every mail folder for every account - no reduction in app size. I trashed every shred of email from the system and the HTC mail app still hovered around 110megs (and the phone storage low indicators continuing). After researching the issue online and piecing 2+2 together I realized that the only solution is to wipe the phone. The issue there is that there are no guarantees that the issue wouldn't resurface again (actually it's quite likely).
Bottom line: HTC mail seems to have a very significant memory leak or bug that causes it to blow through its allocated memory at an alarming pace and there is very little that can be done to stop it once it's started. I would strongly recommend to those of you with the above issues to not use HTC mail after wiping the phone".
In the past few weeks a problem has started with my email on the Incredible. In the very first slot I get a weird/strange email. It is not in bold suggesting that I have already read this email. I will delete it and then with the very next refresh there it is again....the same one. That has been going on for a few weeks. Then three days ago it advanced to where I would delete the next three message following this weird one (these three are from normal senders that I recognize). Again, I would read those three and then delete them, along with the one weird one. Again with a refresh the four would be back. I went into the Verizon store yesterday with a few issues and he got the phone to stop doing this.....that is until this morning when again I am getting that first weird email. I wish I had asked him what he did to get it to stop so I could do it myself. I just went to the store here in my town and the place is jam packed, which is usual. I don't want to wait an hour just for this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC incredible and a ton of free memory (579MB to be exact) but still getting this low space message.
I've cleared the browser cache and I've also removed some apps but the error is still there and I can't delete any new apps.
I've been using the default SMS program since I'm OK with it and don't really need the fancier customizable stuff of Handcent and such. However one thing that does bother me about the SMS program is that when I hit "Messages" it brings me back to the conversation of the last person I was texting with/I sent text to, not the SMS that just came in.
For ex: I've been texting Person A back and forth. Then I get a text from Person B- I see it in the notification bar preview. So I press Messages, but it doesn't take me to Person B's message- it takes me back to the thread from Person A. I can't even figure out How to get to the Person B message except to go to "Menu" key, then hit All Messages, then it shows all the threads and of course the most recent (person B) is up at top. But wouldn't it make sense that pressing Messages after receiving a message takes you to the most recent incoming message? Am I doing something wrong/have some options checked off wrong? Is there a way around this default behavior?
Im have some troubles with my phone and vibrating. When my phone is set in the vibrate mode when i receive a text message my phone does nothing. In the messages app I have it checked off to vibrate when a message is received but still nothing..

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is this, I downloaded Handcent and really like it, however, I can't send messages from home. I have marginal service here (around -98 avg.) but I do get 3G. Whenever I send a message it says Message Failed - Retry, Cancel? I've even had this problem in places with great coverage for both 3G and cell service. The stock messaging app works just fine. So what I've been doing is receiving messages with Handcent and then sending them using the stock app.
So, does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Are there any settings that can be changed? Does handcent use 3G to send messages?
I'm now trying Chomp to see if that's any better. And, just an FYI, I'm having trouble with text messages, not MMS. I haven't tried sending any pics or videos yet, I've just been sending SMS.
I would like the phone to alert me approx every 5 minutes that there is an unread text. My phone alerts that I have a new text but I also want it to alert me again if I don't hear the first alert. Is there a way to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't understand why while using the lock feature on my Incredible when i recieve a text it shows up on the screen before i unlock the phone. isn't the point of locking it to keep prying eyes from seeing your stuff? Is there a way to prevent the contents of the text from showing up before unlocking while still being notified that you have recieved a message?

When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!
I'm using Handcent as my default messaging, but still get notifications through phones regular text messaging. How do I cancel the original or set it so it's not receiving messages?

But right now, my buffer size is already at 8k. What am I doing wrong?
I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
Whenever you click on an embedded YouTube video, it uses HTC's YouTube instead of giving the option to use the YouTube app. Is there a way to make it give the option to view the video using the YouTube app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a few basics things I was hoping the Calendar app would do for me so that I could stop using my old desktop app (Calendarscope) and officially move to Google calendar with sync on the Incredible.
I mostly use the calendar for events and always include a reminder so that I can keep track of my life. However, when an event reminder pops up on the Incredible I only have two options: Dismiss or Snooze. I can't snooze for 1 hour or 2 hours or 2 days (the way I might in Outlook). It's just "Snooze".
When I press Snooze, it seems that the event gets hidden for 10 minutes and then comes back. When I dismiss it, I no longer get reminded of it but it sits in the notification area.
When I go into the notification area, if I want to dismiss any one event, I cannot seem to do it. All I have options for are "Snooze All" and "Dismiss All". If I long press on any event, I don't get a menu that says "Dismiss this Event" or "Snooze this Event". I don't understand this...Am I missing something totally obvious?
When I go the settings of the calendar program and then into Reminder Settings, I see a checkbox at the end that says "Hide Declined events" but I don't understand how to "decline" an event. I only seem to be able to snooze and dismiss (as mentioned above). Again...am I missing something?
All I want is to be able to easily manage the snoozing and dismissing of individual reminders/events but this doesn't seem to work properly.
There are a couple popular choices out there but which do you have set as your default web browser?
I have all these installed but currently have stock "Internet" as my default.

Is there a way to add a program, like a video player to the list that pops up when you want to "preview" a video in an email in Gmail"
I keep getting wmv videos in my email and the only option is to "preview" it. When I say "OK" a list of players pops up, but none of them play the video, most don't do anything and some play the audio only. I have a player I would like to add to the list and even make it my default, but there is no way to leave the list of choices and "browse" to the player I want to use.
Does anyone know where to add a player to the list?
We've recently moved to TN and my Incredible still thinks I'm in VA. All apps, like weather, Poynt, etc., show my old address, even when GPS is turned on. There must be some setting on the phone doing this, but I sure can't find it.
