I have a good question (I think). Is there a way to keep the screen awake while charging the phone? For example, I keep it on the charger almost all day while I'm at work. And it would be nice just to glance over at it to see if I have an email and such. Any ideas?

Anyone notice that after the update, when they charge their phone, the phone stays awake the whole time and starts getting really hot?? There was an option to make the phone go to sleep in 1.5 while charging, but is there also that same option on 2.1?

I own an HTC Hero and the phone can only be awaken by pressing the menu button or the power off button. Dunno if it's like this for every Android phone. I'm looking for a way to awake the phone by touching the screen. My idea is to replace the KeyGuard with something else but instead of awaking the phone by pressing one of those buttons, I would like to do it by touching the screen. Is this even possible or the Androd framework doesn't provide this functionality at all?

Here's the thing...I have not been on my phone for 2:49. I think I've used it for about 15 total minutes total today (busy with work ha). I've read lots of threads about apps making the up/awake time the same (100%) and not letting your phone sleep. What apps or programs gives you a partial awake time? Is there an app to check it?
I mean it makes it kind of hard to do a trial and error app by app since I don't know at what point it's sleeping and what point it's awake (essentially it would take me 1 app per day to see if the numbers line up, or don't line up with my estimated usage).
For example, if it was 100% it would be easier to test because I would just uninstall, soft reset, and watch it for an hour to see if it's 100% or not, but because mine's at about 50%, that could be the 50% of time it's sleeping properly, if that makes sense!
Also, my usage is as follows (no specific program listed):
cell standby 32%
phone idle 30%
voice calls 23%
android system 11%
display 4%
My phone is having the 100% Awake Time issue and I can't figure out why. I've uninstalled a few apps that I thought could be the problem, but that made no difference. I then changed to a completely empty screen layout to remove any possible widget issues, still the same. Last night I installed SystemPanel so I could get a better idea of what's going on and now I'm even more confused. It doesn't show a single thing that's eating up CPU time. Under Battery Use it shows Android System at 43%, then Cell Standby and WiFi at 14%. Is there something in the Android OS that is screwy?
I'm at a complete loss on how to continue trouble shooting this. I'd really rather avoid a complete reset of the phone, but if it's the only option I have. I'm going to go through and uninstall basically everything I can today to see if I can find the culprit, but any ideas would be great. If it was an app though, wouldn't I see it in SystemPanel? Here's some shots of my use this morning. I was using it a bit, but there's obvious spots where the phone should have stopped being "awake".
Upon starting up my phone was locked in awake status and I couldn't figure out why.
So against my will, I've downloaded ATK.
I noticed that upon killing ANY application that was loaded by the system at start up (besides ATK) would allow the phone to sleep.
So FM Radio, Footprints, Docs to Go....
Killing just one of those or I imagine just about anything else that loaded from the start, stopped my wakelock.
Also I noticed by putting the phone into airplane mode, and then taking it out, seemed to work as well.
I love my Droid incredible. I use it to stream Pandora here at work and it works awesome over the 3g network. Even at high quality. Anyway, I was considering keeping the screen on while the phone is charging. I always keep the phone charging while it streams the music, and it would be nice to see the album art on the screen. Before I do that though, I was a little concerned about damage to the screen. Is there any danger I should worry about? There have to be people who do this all the time and never had an issue before.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have a weird issue that my Incredible home screen is unresponsive when I plug it into a wall charger. Meaning that when it is plugged in I can tap the power button to turn the screen on but I can't slide or hit the home button to unlock. I have to unplug the phone to bring it out of lock mode.It seems to only do this when I use a cheap micro USB charger I bought off of Ebay ($2.50 shipped). When I went to the Verizon store they tried to replicate the problem with their Blackberry brand micro USB charger and the problem didn't come up.

I've found the Settings/Applications/Development "Stay Awake" checkbox, but the screen still dims down after 30 seconds, though it doesn't go completely off.Is there a way to keep the screen on?All the WinMo phones I had had two separate profiles one for on battery and one for when on a charger, and you could set the screen brightness and timeout independently for each power profile.The reason for this is that I have a dashmount cradle of sorts that I use, and I generally put the phone in it and plug it in when I'm driving any sort of distance. I do things like look at the phone signal, see if new mail comes in, etc. while driving, and it's just reassuring to look down at the phone and see it doing something without having to hit the power button.

If I scroll up or down and leave my finger in the screen, the screen will jump up and down in small jerky movements around my finger. I also noticed while playing breakout that the slider will have jerky movement as well while charging. Hope I'm not the only one who experiences this, it's not a big deal but bothers me. Does not happen when not charging. Also, some times when trying to tap the screen and select something does your droid randomly scroll down maybe 8% of the time? I have this issue as well.

I have battery snap app and when I checked the status it said the battery was overheating. I had it plugged into the wall charger that came with the phone. Is this normal? I'm not sure when it started exactly but I'm sure it was after I updated to OTA 2.2.It's not hot or does anything else just that the screen turns on, stays on for like 2 seconds, and than the screen turns off. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my DINC via USB to my computer, the computer does not recognize my phone, there is no option for charge or disk drive like there used to be, it just starts charging, but the USB icon which used to appear in the task bar does not appear. I also have the setting set to "ask me every time I connect" on my phone, I have played around with this setting to no avail. The phone also does not appear in My Computer. I have changed USB ports and cables, and my computer recognizes every other device I have, so it is only a problem with recognizing my phone.

We both got new Incredibles and pretty much set them up the same, except she has to use Good for Enterprise to manage her company email/calender. My phone sleeps like it should, but her phone has been awake 100% of the time since she downloaded Good. After a week of trying to figure out what is keeping her phone from sleeping, I think I have found the answer (and developed a mild case of OCD).
My question is: does anyone know how to set the sync interval for Good? The problem seems to be that it is constantly syncing, which never allows the phone to go to sleep (Up time = Awake time).

Im on RGUI_NDT MIUI 2.3.7 MULTILANG V4 and would love to be able to change lockscreen timeout to be longer, it cuts out too fast for me...
