HTC Hero :: 2.1 Update - No Longer Able To Lock Screen
Aug 30, 2010Last week I received the 2.1 update on the HTC Hero. I love it, BUT, i can no longer force lock my screen. Previously I could press the 'power/end call' button once to lock my phone. I can't do this any more. Is anyone else experiencing this? My only option currently, is to let my screen time out (set to 15 secs) and then my phone locks itself, but I cannot force this manually. It's rather frustrating - a lot goes on in my pockets in 15 seconds!

Nov 13, 2009I have a vanilla Hero. Since I bought it (around 2 months ago), the awake time has NEVER been under 100%. I installed the Modaco 2.9 ROM yesterday (which I highly recommend; my Hero is now much faster) and it's STILL 100%.
Spare parts tell me that the culprit appears to be 'Android system'.
I'd like to reduce my wake time if it's at all possible.
I'm aware of the messaging app/dialer issue; that's not what this is, since I'm using CHOMP sms and it's still an issue.
General :: How To Lock Power Button In Screen Lock Mode
Oct 28, 2012I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

Jul 4, 2012In my HTC sensation, I can, for example, open a news story on CNN and if the text was too small, I could pinch the screen jesture to zoom out then the phone would resize the font AND still keep the web page fitting on the screen.
Now, with my Samsung 3s, you can't do this. You can zoom, but the phone does not resize and ensure the page fits on screen. So, you have to read and pan around left, right, up down just to read.
I tried to load other browsers that claim to offer this zoom, resize, fit to screen feature, but none of them worked when loaded onto v4.0.4.

Feb 19, 2013I'm quite worried I soft bricked my phone. I am new to a rooted android device. I am more used to an unlocked windows mobile. Here is what I did...
I rooted my handset using blackwofls guide, it worked perfectly. I then installed adfree android from the market, it also worked perfectly. After that, I went and got font installer, it installed like any other app, opened fine. I chose a font I wanted to use, previewed it, and installed it.
It had prompted me to reboot for the font to take effect. After rebooting my phone will no longer go past the AT&T splash screen. I am very worried since I do not know how to fix it, I don't have a backup of my ICS of any sort. I can however get into ODIN and the recovery mode of clockwork.
I reset my cache and data numerous times, and i did a factory reset, It just sits at the splash screen and vibrates often.
HTC Hero :: Longer Ring Time And Quick Lock
Aug 7, 20091) how I can lengthen the time that my Hero rings for? It's easy for me to leave the phone at one end of the house, and by the time I get to it it's already gone to voicemail. Argrgh. Even if I could add another ten seconds it would help a lot. Any idea how I do this?
2) I haven't worked out how to quickly lock the screen. So, for instance, if I want to chuck the phone in my pocket -- at the moment I'm waiting for the screen to time out, which is bonkers.

Oct 4, 2013A Tasker task that when I'm on the lockscreen, I can tap or double tap to turn the screen off. I've looked in the Tasker tasks and I'm unable to find anything for this. I already use the Nova gesture+ScreenOff app to turn the screen off when I'm unlocked and at the homescreen, which works perfectly. The only thing Nova can't do it turn the screen off from the lockscreen.

My idea is to replace the KeyGuard with something else but instead of awaking the phone by pressing one of those buttons, I would like to do it by touching the screen. Jul 23, 2013What i'm trying to achieve probably requires an app, and I realise there are a couple of different ways I could go about it. I'm going to deploy 30 android tablets to a classroom in the College where I work, and since I love android, i'd rather not see this little experiment fail. Through a combination of "App Lock" and a widely distributed MDM, I have been able to accomplish most of my requirements, however i'd still like to be able to lock down the home screen, in particular, remove the ability for users to change the wallpaper (I have a nightmare that this feature would be abused from day one!).
I have looked at using different launchers (tried Apex and Smart Launcher) which nicely lock down the home screen, but they still allow users to change the launcher preferences which makes that approach a bit pointless.
General :: Lock Screen Gibberish?
Aug 14, 2013my lock screen has a line of gibberish on it. At the top is the date/time an volume control, then a line across the screen as normal. Below the line to the left is like a status area, it normaly says nothing, or says Charging %% (if plugged in) or connect charger (if low battery). but for some reason this week if it is not low battery or charging, it has a line of jibberish that goes almost the whole way across the scree. is ~~~~~~+~~~~~aaqa~~a~~+~ What does this mean & how do I get it off my screen. It doesn't seem to effect the phone functioning. & as soon as I unlock the screen it goes away. So more of an annoyance then anything, but I want my phone to be working perfectly.

Apr 15, 2014I have a Motorola Razr Maxx that is running the latest OS, and is rooted. I recently broke my screen and cannot get past the lock screen so I can start my VNC server (to continue using my phone without the screen). I have searched through what seems to be all posts on bypassing pattern lock and I have not been able to succeed yet due to permission denial for super user in ADB, not having sqlite3 on my phone, and not being able to flash anything onto it in recovery mode.
how to bypass the lock screen without any use of the touchscreen? I have debugging mode on, and I have a access to view what is on the screen via hdmi cable or remote viewer.

Nov 6, 2012I've got the screenlock password on my Galaxy Note. It's in English layout (it was originally entered in Swipe keyboard). Then I've changed the Settings to Samsung keyboard and French layout (same latin letters) and switched off the screen. Now my pass is not working as I cannot change layout to English (the settings button on keyboard is grey). So would you recommend any solution as I don't want to wipe all the data. Is it possible to change layout to original English or reset password somehow?
