Well after long waiting I got the moment! So far so good and really enjoying my first smartphone. Now How do i get the phone screen to go to sleep when charging? Can't find anywhere how to do this? Is this normal? It does get pretty warm and not sure if this is good for the screen? When is not plugged it goes to sleep on the 30sec. which is selected?

Every time I put it on a charger (USB or Wall), it charges and when it's done, the phone awakes and stays on. So if I don't manually put it back into sleep mode, it will sit there all lit up and drain my battery.

Now this problem. the phone will not stay asleep after timeout or end button . I have to restart the phone when it does this to make it work normal for a a short while... then usually every day... just a few hours after a restart, it does it again.
So its very consistent, very annoying. Does it with apps or no apps, nothing running or everything running, with service, or with out service.... doesn't matter.
As you can see in the vid, extremely occasionally "shaking" the phone will make it stop. but as im typing this now, its back on again. most of the time shaking doesn't do anything. Next time i may try chunking it at my fireplace
The Samsung Moments battery life is due to the phone not being able to sleep.Just like the HTC Hero, there is a background service running that prevents the phone from sleeping. Except that with the Hero it is the SMS. On the Samsung Moment it is the background data services.Just like everyone else I would see a loss of 10 percent battery life in just 10 minutes. And then it would get worse from there. I started reading through these forums and looking through my phone and found that the "Background Data Sync" was on all the time. Not only was it on, but it was constantly using internet data to check and recheck everything from address book to email to updates. This constant activity rules the phone and it's battery depleting it completely.To turn it off. go to Menu on the home screen..choose settings..Data Synchronization...and then uncheck Background data.I did this last night and tested my phone.It has been 12 hours and the battery is still completely full.Hopefully someone will make a widget for controlling the Background data sync. Something that you can turn it on and off with from the main screen.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am on my second Moment because my first one failed the Sprint signal test But on that phone i had it set up so that when it was plugged in charging, the phones screen always stayed on. But I don't remember how I did that or what setting I went into. I also have Open Home installed and running on the first phone and now my new phone, i've searched through and through all setting for the phone itself and for Open Home and can not find how I changed it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have the moment and pressing the red hang up button will turn the screen on when its in sleep mode, but when i press it again to turn the screen off it wont, it has to time out. now the button still works to end calls and if i press and hold it will bring up the shut down window but like i said it wont just turn the screen off i have to wait for it to time out each time. is this a hardware problem or what is wrong.

I've tried restarting the phone which helps but eventually it starts acting up again. As i type this, I haven't touched the phone in about 3 mins and the screen is still on. Any help? I;m wondering if it's an app I installed?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was experiencing the poor battery life and have effectively implemented the work-around that includes disabling the stock Messages app. and installing and using a 3rd-party SMS app., Handcent. The work-around appears to be fully effective for me so far, so thanks to those who helped communicate it here on the forum (you know who you all are). I've noticed though, that when charging, my wake time percentage is in the 80th percentile, indicating that it's not fully sleeping while charging in an A/C outlet. First question: Does the phone not sleep while being charged? Second question: If not, can someone please provide some suggestions of things to look at that might be interfering with sleeping while being charged?

If I press power and look away for a second the screen goes black again. Its liek I have to hit power and jump right on it to enter my swipe code.

The screen goes blank.. I have to manually hit the volume key or end key to see the charge complete notification on the screen. I charge it for about 4 hours. I think I remember this happening once or twice on the moment but admittedly, I don't use it much so not sure if the lock screen was on, screen was off, etc. Just looking to see if anyone if affected by this or if it's a known problem.

The guy warned me about the battery on the Evo being bad. I didn't listen since my friend in work plays with his for 3 hours before getting a low battery. Got the Evo and charged it friday from 11am till 4pm. Light turned green full battery. Didn't mess with it much cause I got busy. Had 3 calls about 5 minutes each. Got on the internet for 10 minutes. Phone had gone down 1 bar at 8pm and didn't use it after that. Went to work at midnight to work overtime to pay for the phone, pulled it out at 2am "RECHARGE BATTERY". Ok, charged the battery from 2am till 5:30am. "full charge". Played with the phone about 10 minutes setting it up, made a 10 minute call, 8am when I got home played with it for 5 minutes. Took a nap, woke up at 1pm, RECHARGE BATTERY. Ok, charged it from 1am till 6pm. Green light, battery charged. Made 3 calls, looked on facebook for 10 minutes, sent 5 text messages, went down 1 bar. From 8pm till 3am I slept. Woke up at 3am, grabbed the phone, it was turned off. Turned it back on, powered up, "RECHARGE BATTERY", phone shut back off. THIS IS RIDICULOUS WITH THESE PHONE BATTERY.......

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen you put the phone up to your face while talking i know it has the sensor that shuts off the screen, my question is does anyone else seem like it hesistates a while after you take the phone off your ear? If i call a number that requires me to enter numbers it seems like it takes a good 3 or 4 seconds for the screen to turn back on. I know it doesnt seem like a lot but some of these calls if you dont enter the number right away they start asking questions over then i do hit a number and its the wrong one so its a pain in the a$$. I came from a palm pre which was virtually instantaneous once i took the phone off my ear. So i guess im wondering if this is a problem with just my phone or all moments and is there a fix for it?

They are the best I have ever used. I am just assuming they will not make one for the Moment. I am considering trying to trim one down to fit the Moment, but not sure how it will work. I would prefer something similar, uses static to hold it on, not an adhesive. You can remove it and reuse them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedProblem is that both charging port and battery and malfunctioning. My charger port has a mind of its own. Only certain chargers positioned in certain ways will charge it. I'm talking about brand new charge cords (no shorts in cord itself) that when plugged in will over work if I play with the port for awhile. Along with the problems actually getting the charging port to work, there is also problems with the battery. The battery has a terrible life using all of the battery conserving settings it drains like crazy. And along with that when I charge my phone with it off it will tell me fully charged many times but when I turn the device on I'm in the RED.

There are no any cracks on the screen and all of the touch stuff still works, what i mean is when the phone is on i can still unlock and scroll down i can feel it vibrate when I do so. I don't know what else to do and also when I run the game raging thunder I get maybe 5 fps to the game. Can someone explain to me what is going on? Actually its with my wife's phone, we both have Moments, mine works great but hers frequently (not all the time) doesn't shut off during phone calls. At first I thought she was just holding it strange but I have seen it for myself and its quite frustrating. The biggest issue is that its an intermittent problem so of course it never happens when at the Sprint store asking about replacing the phone. I did the recent update to the phone and it still does it. Any way to fix this short of getting a new one?

Using Launcher Pro, if that might be causing it. I don't think it was doing this before the last Sprint update, but don't know if that's the cause either.
