HTC Incredible :: Can I Use 8gb Card From My Storm In Phone
Apr 27, 2010I just thought about the fact that I have the 8gb card that came in my storm. Verizon is sending a 2gb card but that is useless in my eyes and would rather use the 8gb card unless it will be too slow.

Apr 19, 2010I know many of you are getting ready to make the jump from BB to the Incredible. I just had to have a way to back up my contacts.
TO ALL Storm users (and other users with 5.0, not sure if it works with 4.7.. should be able, havent tested it) you CAN backup your phone via backup assistant from Verizon. I did this yesterday and now have all of my contacts backed up on my account.
While the Tour and Storm 2 had the program pushed to their devices, I (and others) were still able to grab the link!
Simply download and install the backup assistant from the tour link.

When logged in to verizonwireless.com, you can simply select all contacts then export them as a .csv file.
After you do that, login to your gmail account (you have to have one to use an android device anyway) and you can import your contacts.

Nov 18, 2010A few days ago I updated to 2.1 . And the phone works great. Now the thing is that yesterday I noticed the battery was draining a little bit faster than usual, I had been using the Particle Storm Live Wallpaper, so I thought that was the reason. What was my surprise when I changed to an static wallpaper and noticed the battery kept going down really fast. I checked the battery usage and it said that Wifi was draining 33%, Screen 20 something and the live wallpaper only 3 %. Is it normal for Wifi to drain so much battery? Does it depend on the use or what? Shouldn't 3g drain more battery than Wifi?

Nov 10, 2009I am an iphone 3GS user who for the most part have enjoyed the iphone in the less than one year that I have owned it. The iphone (not so much Apple) is a GREAT product which can be summed up using three words, "It just works"! However due to a recent move, I no longer have 3Gs service thus making the iphone more of a paper weight than a utility and productivity tool. I would not consider myself an iPhone fanboy because I was more attracted to the phone and the fact that"it just works" than I was to Apple as a company or the 100,000 apps that's often bragged about. A more fitting term would be that I am a fanboy of products that work.
I could no longer live without 3G service so I made the decision to switch to Verizon. I visited my local Best Buy store and was upfront with the lady by telling her that my intentions were to get the Droid which was due out in one week. I asked if I should wait a week or buy a phone only to bring it back one week later for the Droid? She said either way was fine with her so i bought the Storm 2 but did not port over my number. I figured I would have a chance to use features of both phones simultaneously and if I found myself having iphone withdrawals, my the service would still be active. While there I also pre-ordered the Droid. Since I knew I wasn't going to keep the Storm 2,I took no interest in the phone for the first two days. On the third day I decided to play around with the phone a bit and to my surprise, I actually liked it! Other than the antiquated browser, the Storm 2 is a great phone! In my opinion, it is more sophisticated than the iphone and more "adult like", if that makes sense.
Anyway, while waiting out my time for the Droid I continued to use the Storm 2 and to my surprise it continued to grow on me. I also continued to monitor the Androidforums and there seemed to be more problems with the Droid than raves. Thinking I could live with the fast but useless browser, I re-considered my plan to return the Storm 2 and the release date of the Droid came and went. I hadn't played around with the browser much so yesterday i decided to put the Storm 2 browser to the test by visiting a handful of my favorite websites. Needless to say, the experience was painful and regardless of how great a phone may be, it doesn't compensate for a lousy browser. At that moment I decided to get off the fence and return the Storm 2 for the Droid!
As soon as I got home with the Droid I decided to test out all the things that are most IMPORTANT TO ME....not the critics...not the fanboys....not the naysayers...but TO ME! I tried out a handful of my favorite websites and they all opened quickly, rendered nicely, and the navigation was flawless. Without reservation I can say i prefer this browser over iPhone's Safari which by the way is also a great browser.
Next test, apps! I am not a big fan of apps but they do come in handy from time to time so I visited the Android Market Place to see if I could find all the apps I currently use regularly on the iPhone.
Here are the apps I found and they all work:

Maybe because I was never blown away by the iPhone my transition to another phone has been easier than others. The Storm 2 made me forget about the iPhone and the Droid has made me forget about them both. Someone said the ultimate test to determine whether someone is an iPhone fanboy is by answering this question...."If the iPhone came to Verizon would you own one". For me the answer is absolutely No. Sure, "it just works" and that is a lot more than what can be said about most other phones (new or old) but the Droid "just works" and then some!
I am not naive as I read about the issues others have experienced but those issues are not on my deal breaker list. I have no problem waiting until Dec 11th for an OTA update. One thing I don't like is when people say, "this phone is new so of course there are going to be issues and those issues will be fixed"! There are NO guarantees people! For all who buy into this falacy, go check out the Palm Pre forum...those folks are still waiting and i was one who bought the phone on launch date and returned it less than three weeks later. Yep one can say I dodged that bullet. I also seen situations where waiting pays off. Go check out the now old Samsung Instinct forum. All those folks who waited ended up with a decent phone after multiple updates. Again, I was one who purchased that phone on its release date and jumped shipped after about 25 days. Again, there are no GUARANTEES and we all take a risk by buying a phone on release date and keeping it for 30+ days. Again I have to go back to the iPhone.....I have owned two and NEVER had one problem whatsoever. Again "it just works"! Most problems people have with iPhones are feature specific and not workmanship, etc. Of course there are many cases to the contrary but those cases are not the norm. With that said, i have an iPhone for sale if anyone wants to get in on early bidding!

If not could someone make me one from a picture or explain how to reduce the pic to a sice for the Icon? Currently I downloaded the Windows 7 icon pack from the market and i'm using the default cell phone icon which looks like an old canybar Nokia.

May 19, 2010This folder includes screen shots that are used for Internet Browser bookmarks. It also includes screen shots of web pages that I did not choose to bookmark. When I clear cache while in "Internet" in "Manage Applications" it does not remove these jpg files that are not being used for bookmarks. When I clear everything while in Internet app (in settings) it does not remove these jpg files either. It also does not remove them from within the HistoryEraser app. The only way I can remove the jpg files is with Astro or when connected to PC. I have to go through them and erase jpgs that I do not want there.
There were 72 jpg files in that directory and they go all the way back to when I got phone (on 4/29). I have only added 5 bookmarks myself during that time. They do not take up a lot of space but I just don't want them there.

Jun 2, 2010I have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?

Apr 26, 2010I bought an Eris on the 28th, but returned it sunday within the 30 day grace period to wait for the incredible. And its killing me xD.I had to switch back to my winmo 6.1 HTC vx6900, and switching back from android is rough. Truly, it is a day to day struggle that we must cope with one step at a time. Tasks that used to be so simple, like editing a contact or sending a text, are now unwieldy by comparison.Who else here has had to do this? Am I alone in having to deal with this?

Nov 30, 2010I had a rooted Incredible using this method before however I had a problem with the on screen keyboard so I got a replacement. The replacement just came yesterday. Now I am rooting the replacement and the Unrevoked 3 program gets stuck at "Waiting for root... (Safe to restart if this doesn't work)"
I have the HBOOT drivers installed and my phone comes up in device manager as "Android Composite ADB Interface"
Did they apply a new update to the phone that prevents rooting? If so how long before I can get around it?

My question is, how can I wirelessly stream music or Pandora from my phone to my car (Altima does not have an aux jack). I know my car is capable because I was able to do this with my old Blackberry (exactly how I don't remember, it was an intricate process of pressing random buttons).

May 24, 2010So i was out the other night with a few friends and we decided to race our phones going to various web sites. We laid all three phones down in a triangle next to each other. We would all type in the same web site and hit go at the same time. My incredible was killing them. Compared to the droid, the incredible would load the site about 5 seconds faster. The iphone was not even close. One site took about 15 to 20 seconds longer to load on the iPhone. They were shocked at how fast the incredible was. I am so glad I have this phone!

May 1, 2010Well i plan on developing for android now and figure i'd sign up.I've only had it only for like 1.5 days now, installed a few apps here or there. Well i installed pandora and have pandora one, i've also bluetooth'd it to my car stereo on the way home yesterday.Well tonite i was messing around it some more and noticed there are about 8 songs that i didn't download or transfer in the HTC Music player, they are songs/artist that i've possibly listen to in pandora. I'm not sure if pandora downloads songs and the htc player picked found them. So i tried to play a couple songs, skip a few and nothing new appeared in the htc player.

Jun 6, 2010I am having an issue with my HTC Droid Incredible. When going to Settings>Wireless and networks and looking under Mobile Network, it says "Turning on." However, it stays in that mode and never "turns on."Things I have tried
1. Restart the phone/taking the battery out
2. Reset the phone to factory settings by going to Privacy in Settings
3. Contact Verizon and have them remove and re-add the data plan
I have noticed that, when I call *228, and try to activate the phone, it says an error occurred and it could not activate the phone. I can make phone calls from the phone, but cannot do anything that requires a data plan, meaning that it is an issue with that. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?
HTC Incredible :: Landscape Orientation Using Calendar On HTC Droid Incredible?
Jun 8, 2010I just received a Droid Incredible and I believe it's a great phone, but there is one thing on it that makes it difficult for me to fully enjoy using it. I use the calendar everyday to type meetings, appointments, and reminders. I noticed that when I try to type anything using either calendar (HTC or Google's calendar), the portrait orientation is the only option that is offered. I know that the landscape keyboard is available for everything else (text messages, internet, etc.), but I'm forced to type all of my calendar appointments using the portrait keyboard. This slows down my typing whenever I use the calendar. I tried using the voice to text option to input text, but it is not always accurate. Is there an option under calendars that I did not find that makes it possible for me to type in the landscape orientation or do I need to download an app that will make it possible to type in the calendar using the landscape keyboard?

May 10, 2010I think I've found the battery culprit on my wife's new Incredible. We both got new Incredibles and pretty much set them up the same, except she has to use Good for Enterprise to manage her company email/calender. My phone sleeps like it should, but her phone has been awake 100% of the time since she downloaded Good. After a week of trying to figure out what is keeping her phone from sleeping, I think I have found the answer (and developed a mild case of OCD).
My question is: does anyone know how to set the sync interval for Good? The problem seems to be that it is constantly syncing, which never allows the phone to go to sleep (Up time = Awake time).
