May 1, 2010I thought it was a bit curious that they wouldn't and I was wondering if there was a setting somewhere I was missing.

View 13 RepliesIs it possible to view them on the incredible? I've tried using both the default browser and dolphin HD with no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are doing some prototyping for an Android app and we wanted to use Animated GIFs via webpages to get a sense of animation. Unfortunately, we have found that we can't do that on the Android's browser (or Opera for that matter). I've read some posting saying that this might get fixed but there were never any specific dates. Does anyone have some news on when we might be able to use Animated GIFs in webpages? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on good ways to develop quick animated visual prototypes of apps for Android? In particular, our design folks (who are handling the visual stuff) know HTML, Javascript, J-query but don't know Java and we would prefer to NOT have them learn another language, if possible as this is really just for rapid prototyping.

Can an android boot animation be an pre-animated gif or does it have to be sequential gifs with a script?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several animated gif's I had converted over to png's with Fireworks 8 but when I place the frames in the folders part0 & part1 then use the developer SDK software and upload the bootanimation.zip files they will not work. I have other bootanimation.zip that work but I can't figure out what the difference is.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnimated GIF images rendered by Android's WebView do not seem to animate. Has anyone figured out how to make them work? I'm testing on an N1 with 2.1-u1. None of the web settings available seem applicable.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've looked around but I can't find anything on it. I just moved some animated pics to my photo folder on my Behold II and when I view them in the photo gallery it's just stuck on the first frame and stays that way like a regular picture. Is it possible to have animated gifs "move" on this phone or is it not supported?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been reading these forums for a while deciding to trade in my old dumbphone LG VX8300 on an Incredible. As a software engineer, I do lots of study before I commit. So yesterday when I get my new Incredible, I'm shocked to find out that the browser doesn't support animated GIFs! I don't care about the ones with smiley faces poking another smiley face in the eye with a stick, but most of the weather apps use animated GIFs to simulate live radar. That is one of my big uses on the old VX8300 (I do lots of motorcycle riding in the summer and want to know which way the rain is heading)The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, etc. all think they have moving radar images but none of them work. I did find RadarNow in the app store but that wasn't sufficient. I eventually found that WeatherBug Elite ($1.99) has moving radar images (they must use a different technique). I finally found a discussion over at the Android developers list of known issues Issues - android - Project Hosting on Google Code that discussed the issue. The developer has made a change for Froyo for large memory phones like the Incredible to enable animated GIFs. There is a mention of this over in the Motorola Droid forum, but with all the new folks jumping on the Incredible, I thought it might get better visibility here. So here's one thing that Droid doesn't. that the iPhone (and my ancient dumbphone, and Blackberry, and Palm, etc.) does.I just thought I'd share my experience so others can find it later.

View 21 Replies View RelatedWhat is your preferred general method for instituting animated GIF support in browsers that don't have it? I use the Animated GIF Player app for GIF files, but even the Galaxy S3 failed to play a humorous North Korean GIF the other day when I browsed to the URL on my friends phone trying to show it to him.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a javascript that plays audio in the browser, using the html5 <audio> tag. It works fine in the iPhone browser, but not in Android. (Testing using a htc desire with android 2.1.) Anyone know why?By the way, I am also trying to enlarge the audio button that shows up in the iphone (the default one is quite small), with no luck so far - would be grateful for any ideas!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI see where Dolphin is highly recommended, but after doing some playing around I noticed something pretty strange. I like to listed to music streaming and the stock browser seems to allow Flash play audio, but the Dolphin browser can not recognize it. The problem with listening with the stock browser is that when the phone goes into standby mode, it stops playing. Does anyone know how to keep it playing when the screen turns off?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy wife's Incredible is coming in tomorrow and she said she saw a video with an Incredible that included an animated weather widget. I didn't ask whether it also had the clock. Is this one that comes with Sense or is it one I should download for her somewhere? Is there more than one of these out there?I have a Droid and I see that Beautiful has a nice weather widget, but I can't tell if it is animated.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am a weather geek and like having animated radar available on tje phone. The best one to me is Weather Underground, and the mobile version is fast and easy to use. It worked well on my Centre and it loads on the DI, however, the radar remains stationary. I have played with the animations setting and no difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA while ago I found a tip somewhere on how to get to some additional hidden android browser settings including how to change the user agent string so that the browser would identify itself as a desktop browser or iPhone browser while surfing. This setting is reset between sessions, I didn't use it frequently and eventually forgot how to go about making the change. Recently I had a need to access these hidden browser settings again and it took quite a long and frustrating search effort to finally locate this information which does not seem to be widely publicized. So, in an effort to save anyone else this trouble, I figured I would post the information on how to do this on a couple Android boards that I frequent and also include a few words that might be picked up as search terms for anyone else trying to find this info. The procedure is very simple. I currently have an HTC Sprint Hero running Android 1.5, so I'm not sure what other devices or builds this will work on..
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using the Alcatel OT-918d (stock rom, root access enabled) and while playing videos in the browser, I do not get an action prompt to choose from the available video players and browser plays the video using "default video player".
The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)
