I am a weather geek and like having animated radar available on tje phone. The best one to me is Weather Underground, and the mobile version is fast and easy to use. It worked well on my Centre and it loads on the DI, however, the radar remains stationary. I have played with the animations setting and no difference.

Didnt work on the Hero, was sort of hoping EVO would magically work with it. Is this something FroYo can fix? Its such an standard format.

My wife's Incredible is coming in tomorrow and she said she saw a video with an Incredible that included an animated weather widget. I didn't ask whether it also had the clock.Is this one that comes with Sense or is it one I should download for her somewhere? Is there more than one of these out there?I have a Droid and I see that Beautiful has a nice weather widget, but I can't tell if it is animated.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been reading these forums for a while deciding to trade in my old dumbphone LG VX8300 on an Incredible. As a software engineer, I do lots of study before I commit. So yesterday when I get my new Incredible, I'm shocked to find out that the browser doesn't support animated GIFs! I don't care about the ones with smiley faces poking another smiley face in the eye with a stick, but most of the weather apps use animated GIFs to simulate live radar. That is one of my big uses on the old VX8300 (I do lots of motorcycle riding in the summer and want to know which way the rain is heading)The Weather Channel, AccuWeather, etc. all think they have moving radar images but none of them work. I did find RadarNow in the app store but that wasn't sufficient. I eventually found that WeatherBug Elite ($1.99) has moving radar images (they must use a different technique). I finally found a discussion over at the Android developers list of known issues Issues - android - Project Hosting on Google Code that discussed the issue. The developer has made a change for Froyo for large memory phones like the Incredible to enable animated GIFs. There is a mention of this over in the Motorola Droid forum, but with all the new folks jumping on the Incredible, I thought it might get better visibility here. So here's one thing that Droid doesn't. that the iPhone (and my ancient dumbphone, and Blackberry, and Palm, etc.) does.I just thought I'd share my experience so others can find it later.

Currently the only things that I can see to make animated are Views but Overlays don't extend View functionality. My next thought was to try to lodge a View into the overlay, but the redundancy makes it seem like this solution is incorrect. I grabbed the android source hoping that I could just look at MyLocationOverlay source and that would let me know how the animation was supposed to be done, but I can't find the source for anything involving maps. If that is available somewhere it would help. Can someone point me to the MyLocationOverlay source or let me know what the paradigm is supposed to look like for animating map overlays?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to have a couple of layouts and have one of them animate to reveal the layout below. I've attached a crude image of what I'm attempting to do.
As the top layout animates out of the way, I want all of its contents to remain in their relative positions. The same goes for the layout behind.
I have tried setting one of the layout's height to 0 and then animated it to be full height, but this reeks havoc on the scaling and the placement of the elements inside. I also tried implementing the solution in the link below, but it didn't do what I needed.

View 29 Replies View RelatedAny good weather apps(or direct sites) with ANIMATED radar that will load on non-Flash Android.Droid-X(until Froyo comes out...for real).I noticed Weather Channel DOES have an animated app that will load but it takes forever for it to load slower than animated radar would load on my Storm(which was relatively quick) but I thought this Droid-X was supposed to be fast. Yeah I know the problem is probably on TWC's side of things as they always seem to be slow.Had Accuweather on the Storm and I had the animated radar saved as a favorite and could one-click to get it.

Unfortunately, we have found that we can't do that on the Android's browser (or Opera for that matter). I've read some posting saying that this might get fixed but there were never any specific dates. Does anyone have some news on when we might be able to use Animated GIFs in webpages? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on good ways to develop quick animated visual prototypes of apps for Android? In particular, our design folks (who are handling the visual stuff) know HTML, Javascript, J-query but don't know Java and we would prefer to NOT have them learn another language, if possible as this is really just for rapid prototyping.

I assign a Traslate Animation to this TextView, so that it moves from position A to position B in the screen.
The Animation works as expected.
My problem is due to the fact that it does not matter in which position the TextView is during its movement: in order to trigger the "click event" I need to touch the screen only in the starting position (A).
EXAMPLE: Imagine that the TextView is in the bottom left corner and it starts moving toward the top right one. Imagine that the TextView is now in the center ofthe screen. If I touch the TextView where my eyes "see" it (= in the center of the screen), nothing happens. Else if I touch the starting point at the bottom left of the screen (which is a blank place because the TextView has moved from there), the event is triggered.
I just want to display an animated GIF file. I tried and its static only, its not animating. There are other ways like frame by frame or using animation classes.
But I want to know, whether android supports animated GIF image.
Suppose I have the URL for large animated gif and I wanted to make a youtube like activity that displays the animation in a streaming way. How do I
stream in the image?
get it do display with actual animation?
I know ImageView is not the answer as it only shows the first frame.
A bonus would be having access to its buffering status so I can synchronize streaming sound as well -- this is part of a YTMND viewer application. While I could create a service that transcodes the public gif files into a nicer format, I'd like the app to function without additional dependencies.
