I just got my HTC Hero yesterday. I was very impressed, but when I wasn't able to connect to my wireless AP I got very frustrated.The router I have is a NETGEAR MR814v2. I normally use it with 64bit WEP security. When I try to connect on my hero, I get prompted for a password, which I then fill in, and then it just says "Remembered, secured with WEP". So it doesn't connect. And it doesn't give me the Wifi icon in the top.

So, I installed the N1 News and Weather App and find it to be awesome!
My question...are there any other apps from the N1 or other android phones that will work on the Hero?
I'm running Windows 7 on my main PC and netbook - are there any issues with the Hero and Windows 7? i.e. HTC Sync? Really excited and looking forward to getting the phone - still not sure what to do with the N97 - speaking of which are there any REALLY good fm transmitters that work with the Hero for in-car playing?

Just got my Class 6 in the post and I am trying to sort AppstoSD on my Hero.
I have repeatedly tried to partition using ATSD2 but it won't work. It says it is dont and to reboot, but nothing has changed on the SD card.
Also: if I do get this done, what exactly does ATSD2 do in comparison to A2SD (in terms of what I have to do manually?
Neither the default browser, nor Dolphin works when I use wi-fi. It just says "processing" or something like that, but they can never finish loading the page in question. Sometimes they even claim that I don't have a data connection, even though I have my wi-fi turned on (and the wi-fi works flawlessly, I can use the Market and other apps without problems). Opera Mini works fine. However, when I browse through my 3G connection, they all work perfectly.

The previous version was just as bad, really. It seems to be a running issue with a lot of users, though.Is there an alternative? Is there a way of converting my Outlook contacts that are on the phone into Google contacts so I don't have to deal with Sync at all? What with this, plus the new Sync not working with my Outlook 2003 when I DID have it working plus the phone recently not notifying me of new voicemail over a 2 week period (which cost me a job interview), I'm seriously considering ditching the phone. Now i have read that rooting from 2.1 is easier than rooting from 1.5 cupcake. But when i put the month forward to get the ota update, it first upgrades my firmware, then resets my phone , then i get a picture of a phone with a phone and a triangle with the exclamation mark. I then press home and power and comes up with the android system recovery and says E:Failure at line.

So I usually have to manually copy album Pics from the net and paste them in the info section. However my hero either doesn't show the artwork or replaces my pic with some other random artwork pic. For applications like the GPS tracker and my position they did not work in places where there was no phone coverage. View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot get the calendar reminders to work. The reminders are enabled and I have selected "Show as alert" in the calendar reminder options. Nothing happens.
When the time for the reminder to show has come, the phone does nothing.
Why does the calendar ignore the reminders?
I am reletively new to this but have now successfully updated and backed up my hero a few times. I;m not sure whether this problem is due to a ROM upgrade or me just being stupid but i cannot connect to the internet on my orange hero unless im hooked up to my home wireless? when i go to use the internet without wireless on i get the message "web page not available. check to make sure your device has a signal and data connection.reload this web page later. view a cached copy of the web page from google? im assuming its a problem with my settings but dont know how to sort the prob out.

Having just spent a couple of days, using a hotels wifi system without a problem on my hero, I've decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a new router.i'm currently running a linkseys wrt54gr, which works some of the time, then drops wifi a lot of the time.the annoying thing is it works perfectly with everything that is wifi including laptop, itouch and internet radio!i spoke online to a linkseys guy who tried to help me change my routers settings, but with little success. he did say it was running with the latest software.SO PLEASE, WHAT CAN I BUY THAT WORKS, ANY SUGGESTIONS?
