I'm not massively impressed with VillainROM 1.5 to be honest, the battery life is way down on what I used to get with VR12 and I'm debating going back to that but one thing I DO love is LauncherPro and the little dock it gives at the bottom of the screen.My query is:can you just install that onto VR12 (so, just Android 2.1) or not?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Moment, it's running the Radioactive Froyo rom(so it's rooted)...but I cant seem to download Launcherpro. I have tried to download it straight from the market...NO DICE! I went to the launcherpro website downloaded it straight to SD and used OI Installer AND Appinstaller to install...NO DICE! All I keep getting is an error message that says "install unsuccessful". Launcherpro's FAQ says that if this happens then you have an android OS that is not compatible, but says nothing on how to fix or what to do about it.
Searched high and low for help in other threads, but most of them focused on once the app was already downloaded (including the launcherpro website), I cant even get this one installed, I'm really stumped...and I dont want to be "that guy" who didnt do a search in order to find an answer to a simple problem, but honestly, I've been trying for two days to fix this.
If it's possible to have FroydVillain 1.5 just as standard Froyo without any type of launcher like LauncherPro and ADW etc? I've been looking around and can see that you can remove LauncherPro using Titanium Backup but they always say to have another home launcher installed before doing so.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded Launcher Pro, I currently still have ADW installed as well. When I use LauncherPro my home screen (and other screens) are not set up the way I currently have them. I spent a lot of time setting my current screens so they are exactly the way I want them. Any way to save that config when switching to LauncherPro? It does seem faster so I want to give it a shot, but I'm dreadig setting everything up again- widgets, apps, etc.
I have an HTC Hero, rooted, latest Cyanogen with LauncherPro Plus. But I don't know if it's a rooted issue so I posted here. Sometimes scrolling slows to a crawl, sometimes it takes a minute to go back to the home screen, LauncherPro crashes a lot, the lock screen takes a few seconds to unlock. Other times all of that zips through. It's maddening About 24 megs of free storage on phone. What could it be? And the phone reboots a lot on its own also.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my HTC Hero yesterday. I was very impressed, but when I wasn't able to connect to my wireless AP I got very frustrated.The router I have is a NETGEAR MR814v2. I normally use it with 64bit WEP security. When I try to connect on my hero, I get prompted for a password, which I then fill in, and then it just says "Remembered, secured with WEP". So it doesn't connect. And it doesn't give me the Wifi icon in the top.

Just got my Class 6 in the post and I am trying to sort AppstoSD on my Hero.
I have repeatedly tried to partition using ATSD2 but it won't work. It says it is dont and to reboot, but nothing has changed on the SD card.
Also: if I do get this done, what exactly does ATSD2 do in comparison to A2SD (in terms of what I have to do manually?
Neither the default browser, nor Dolphin works when I use wi-fi. It just says "processing" or something like that, but they can never finish loading the page in question. Sometimes they even claim that I don't have a data connection, even though I have my wi-fi turned on (and the wi-fi works flawlessly, I can use the Market and other apps without problems). Opera Mini works fine. However, when I browse through my 3G connection, they all work perfectly.

1) Download the following app : LauncherPro Beta - Android app on AppBrain
2)Once installed, click on the home button. You should now get this popup :
3)Make sure you click on LauncherPro
4)Now that you have that done, your screen should look like this :
5)Now, lets say you want some custom looking icons like these :
6)Go to the website www.iconfinder.com type in what kind of icon you want, kind of like Home, or anything of the sort.
7)Download them onto your computer (its easier to make a folder dedicated to all of your icons at first). Once done, put the files on your phones sd card.
8)Now, go onto the homescreen of your phone. Click and hold onto the icon you want to replace till this screen appears :
For the home screen button change, (the grid), click on app drawer.
9)You will now get this screen :
10)Select custom icon
11)Find the folder your icons are in
12)Select which one you want to use
13)Now you have this! :
Do this for anyones that you want to change!
If you havent noticed yet, the dock on the bottom scrolls down so you have these :
Want to get rid of them? Simple. Select blank, and it will dissapear. It will now look like this.
I have the HTC Hero on Orange, got the new version of Sync a few weeks back and I just can't get it working, now, when I want it to. The previous version was just as bad, really. It seems to be a running issue with a lot of users, though.Is there an alternative? Is there a way of converting my Outlook contacts that are on the phone into Google contacts so I don't have to deal with Sync at all? What with this, plus the new Sync not working with my Outlook 2003 when I DID have it working plus the phone recently not notifying me of new voicemail over a 2 week period (which cost me a job interview), I'm seriously considering ditching the phone. Too many things keep going wrong!

Now i have read that rooting from 2.1 is easier than rooting from 1.5 cupcake. But when i put the month forward to get the ota update, it first upgrades my firmware, then resets my phone , then i get a picture of a phone with a phone and a triangle with the exclamation mark. I then press home and power and comes up with the android system recovery and says E:Failure at line.

So I usually have to manually copy album Pics from the net and paste them in the info section. However my hero either doesn't show the artwork or replaces my pic with some other random artwork pic. Anyone experience this and know how to fix this?

For applications like the GPS tracker and my position they did not work in places where there was no phone coverage. Could some one please let me know whether this is the case or do I need to change my settings for the GPS to work independently of Phone coverage.
