I have been reading these forum guides for days now, trying all the guides. sadly always failing at the last steps. Now i have read that rooting from 2.1 is easier than rooting from 1.5 cupcake. But when i put the month forward to get the ota update, it first upgrades my firmware, then resets my phone , then i get a picture of a phone with a phone and a triangle with the exclamation mark. I then press home and power and comes up with the android system recovery and says E:Failure at line.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk, my phone worked perfectly before I installed 2.1. I did a hard reset before I installed 2.1. It ran fine for about 20 minutes while I played with all the new features (I really like 2.1 when its working) but literally about every 20 minutes when I check my phone, the damn thing is OFF. Its really pissing me off. So I turn it back on, and within 20 minutes its off again. Im about to smash this damn thing. I've reinstalled 2.1 twice, hard reset, soft reset, and every combination of the 3. WTF is the problem!?

So far i am enjoying the updated UI however, i have noticed some changes, for instance, before i could easily assign ringtones to anyone now when i try to assign tones that are saved on my sd card to specific contacts it will not allow me to do so. The phone now only lets me set a default tone which can be any tone (sd card or factory) but all contacts have this tone & i cannot assign specific tones for certain contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with the clock/weather widget on my Hero. I have it set to Current City and I noticed the other day that the weather wasn't updating. ( I live in Long Beach, CA) It was stuck on one weather. I especially noticed when it still said partly sunny at 11pm. It doesn't work even if i try to manually update.
I thought it was just the current city function that was having trouble registering but when I go to other cities nearby it updates fine. And when I specifically set it to Long Beach, CA, it was still stuck and not updating.
Anyone else having this problem? Is there something wrong with the weather equipment in Long Beach?
I have google voice and use it for every phone call I make. I heard that there were issues with several gvoice updates, so I haven't updated google voice since 0.2.8 and it is working just fine- every call connects, no problems. Is it worth updating to the newest version of google voice with push? For those of you with 2.1 on your Eris- does google voice work for you?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am only drawing off my knowledge of the Eris here, but we have a similar issue where certain kernels dont work or everyone. The issue for us is that the eris ships with 2 possible touchscreen drivers, depending on the driver a kernel may/may not work on your phone-the touchscreen may become unresponsive after flashing.
I want to see if this could be the same reason for you guys. Can you post what your touchscreen driver is and which kernels do/dont work for you? You can find your driver version under the fastboot menu under touchscreen. (Fastboot is Send + End for the Eris)
I've launched emulator with -dpi-device option. But any icon size is not changed. Is there other options I must apply?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI actually have an app that I test with two devices. One LG GW620, and one Samsung Spica. I would like when User touch the screen, the device vibrate. In fact, On the LG GW620, the device vibrate when I touch it. But on the spica doesn't... I looked for settings on the spica, but Vibrator is check, so I don't understand why it doesn't vibrate.
In my app I have : <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.VIBRATE"></uses-permission> and in the code :
Vibrator vibrator =(Vibrator)getSystemService(Context.VIBRATOR_SERVICE);
vibrator.vibrate(100);
But I think it is not the best thing to do that. I wish device vibrate for every click, but I don't know if I have to do a Vibrator for each OnClick ? Or if I could do only one Vibrator for all the application? And especially why it doesn't work on Spica?

I'm developing an app using android 2.1. I have a problem with using session cookies to login to a RESTful web service. The code works fine on the emulator, but when I run it on my HTC Magic, the cookie logic doesn't work. I've confirmed that the magic is receiving cookies in the headers by listing them (see attached). Can anyone say why the cookie store would be empty even tho they are in the headers?

This morning I got a question to upgrade the operating system on my phone so I said YES. It went through the whole process and when it finally booted up it does not work. It now keeps booting up. I did a master reset and cleared the data but now it just keeps booting by itself and so the new operating system must be at fault. Any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI went through all the troubleshooting steps in the "Update Available From Sprint" thread, making sure I was on v1.29.651.1, yada yada. Worked on this for a week and a half. Spoke with Sprint, spoke with HTC, no luck. Going to firmware update always reported NO UPDATE AVAILABLE.
Took the phone back to Best Buy and demanded an exchange. After receiving the new phone, went to try to firmware update, it showed that one was available. I asked for my old battery back since it was charged fully so that I could do the update. Put my old battery back in, went to update, NO UPDATE AVAILABLE!
Turns out it was my battery? Put the new one back in and the update was successful. I had scoured the net before but did not notice anyone with this particular issue. I
