I'm new to android, and i just got my htc hero, how do you close applications. I mean, i open an app and when i'm finished with the app then click the "back" button or the "home button" to open another app, but seems when i long-press the "home" button, previous apps are still open... the only thing that sort of close all the apps when i turn off & on the phone. how do you close apps?

I am just wondering about this.....I had the same issue with my old LG phone..is it because all these phones have a flash memory? Are there any app's besides task managers that can close the app's for good?

Issue:Recently, I switched my s duos from official Stock OS/ROM to PMP Ultra 8.5.1 for better features an usability. As I could see that after installing some apps(~8-10 in count), apps such as Gmail(while opening particular email), Link2SD, Gallery gets shutdown as soon as try to open them.
This issue happens after some time rebboting cell, and persist until next reboot, I could see that I have enough space and RAM available to manage yet more apps.
The AOL INSTANT MESSENGER (AIM) app is always open for some reason.. I see the Icon on the notification bar and it never goes away, even when I sign out of aim.. This is keeping my awake time at 50%.. Besides rebooting does anyone have a fix for this.. I dont download 3rd party task managers and apps because they seem to slow down the performance of the hero.. I think partiallly because it skipped the 1.6 and cupcake builds.. However there is an internal task manager (Applications>Manage apps> Menu/filter by running) but a force stop here seems not to fix the problem

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my 2nd Android phone now, as I've just upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S from my previous HTC Hero. Love the Galaxy S to bits, but was wondering what I do about some of the old apps on my old phone? Like World War for example, is there anyway of continuing the account on the new phone? Or do I have to start a new game?
Also, the HTC had a really good weather widget where it used to auto update with weather about the location you were currently at. I think it was a HTC thing, as I can't find anything that does the same as this for the Samsung, you can only store certain locations.
I've had an app on the market for over a year. Recently customers have been reporting a crash; all customers have been running Android 2.1 or 2.2 (note sure if the crash is limited to those platforms tho; interesting that this does work on the simulator but not physical devices. Maybe devices renamed the component name of the image gallery?). The crash occurs when I attempt to lauch the Image Gallery app.
Is there a preferred method to launching the Image Gallery?

I constantly see the same apps opening throughout the day. I think I have narrowed it down to when I get a text message it opens up a few other things. I have installed Handcent and disabled the stock message app i think. I have closed all apps and recieved a text and here is what opens everytime. Voice Dialer, com.coremobility.app.vnotes, sprint navigation, and still the Messages app opens even though it comes through Handcent.

I'm using SenseHero and in the past I've restored nandroid backups a few times. I've also wiped the phone before restoring a backup.But after I've used Titanium to re-install apps, the manage applications shows apps that have been uninstalled. When I select them in manage applications, I get a FC.I've investigated a bit, and it seems manage applications thinks the apps are still installed for some reason. If I find the app in Market, then Install and uninstall it, it no longer shows in Manage Applications.Is there a way to force a refresh of Manage Applications? I don't want to have to install/uninstall all the rogue aps.The main reaons for wanting to sort this, is so that when I backup/restore from Titianium, I don't have this issue and I can create a Nandroid backup that is correctly up to date.

Next, I shutdown the phone and removed the battery. After a few moments, I reinstalled the battery and rebooted. The camera still would not open. I had to do other work, so I just set the phone aside for a few hours. When I came back, I tried the camera again and after a short pause it opened, but not as smoothly as in the past. It is still not opening as it should. First it displays a very quick view of the desktop with an error message. It goes too fast for me to read and then it opens the camera app.

View 19 Replies View RelatedSuddenly, my android phone have trouble with the issue that some of Applications close automatically right after launching, especially right after I reboot phone. What are the cause ?
After reboot, my phone still has about 200MB RAM free. however, after reboot about 1 or 2 minutes if I open Facebook,/xda,/viber ...it will automatically close immediately and back to home screen. BUT if I take the phone rest about 15mins, it becomes operating normally. No trouble with the issue that some of Applications close automatically right after launching anymore. So I don't know what's happen.
I am new to the whole rotting thing, I installed the bugless beast on my droid 2 days ago and everything went great and it worked fine, I'm just having an issue with it being really lagy at times and the biggest problem is that it freezes everytime I open or close the keyoard, I have to forse close and wait for it to load everything up again, a message is desplayed and it says:
The application launcher+(process android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then I hit forse close, it usually only happens when I open or close the keyboard but sometime it will happen at random. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it.
Why don't apps on Android have Close/Exit? I never know if an app is truly turned off. Internet is perfect example. If I have navigated down a series of web pages and hit the return button, when I reopen the internet it's on that last page as opposed to the home page.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk, there is literally no way that I'm the only one who has asked this question but I can't find the answer by searching. Here's my problem, after I flash my rom and restart my phone the market begins auto-downloading all the apps I previously had installed. I do not want this bc I use titanium backup for all of that.
I know I can avoid it temporarily if I skip entering my email address, but there has to be a setting for me to un check that will make it not try to auto download anything once I do add my account.
I'm sure you guys have all run into this by now, so can someone please tell me what setting will resolve this issue?
