General :: Applications Close Automatically Right After Launching
Oct 6, 2013
Suddenly, my android phone have trouble with the issue that some of Applications close automatically right after launching, especially right after I reboot phone. What are the cause ?
After reboot, my phone still has about 200MB RAM free. however, after reboot about 1 or 2 minutes if I open Facebook,/xda,/viber ...it will automatically close immediately and back to home screen. BUT if I take the phone rest about 15mins, it becomes operating normally. No trouble with the issue that some of Applications close automatically right after launching anymore. So I don't know what's happen.

Being new to the Android, I was wondering if there is a program out there that will close your application permanently once you're finished with it? I know Task Killer is out there, and use it quite frequently, but I'm noticing that when I get out of DroidLive, Google Maps, etc. they stay running in the back ground and the phone will start to get sluggish.
Also on Bootup the phone boots Facebook and Google Maps. Any way to disable this?

My mobile information.
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102
Android 2.3.6.
I am using the Stock ROM, My mobile is rooted.
I am also using GO Launcher EX and Go Locker.
Each time i lock my phone and keep it for a while ( 15 minutes or more i think ) The Facebook Messengers and Whatsapp's Background service closes automatically, which lead that i don't receive any notifications.
BUT .. When i unlock the phone the service restart and opens again, but this made me lose many conversations because i didn't receive the notification. And Here is a test i made :
1- Lock the phone
2- keep messaging periodically my phone and i kept receiving notifications for long time ( 1 hour + )
3-but when i stopped sending myself messages and the phone was idle for 15min+ then i messeged my phone again, no notifications were received
4-after i unlock the phone and then i instantly gone to "Running Service tab" to check the service i found them " Restarting".
5-after they finished their restart i received the missed notifications.
Note : I Don't have any Auto-Task killer applications ( i had before but uninstalled it )

I'm looking for something that will close apps (and the commands that make them relaunch) in an automatic way (i.e every time the said app is beign activated).
I need something non root ( the apps being closed are not an internal part of the rom), preferably free, and that is trustworthy (security wise).

I have a few folders filled with apps set up on one of my home screens. When I open a folder to use an app inside, the folder stays open. If I hit the home button, then scroll back to the page, the folder is still open. I'd like the default action to close the folder after I launch the app.

I am new to Android and I have installed "Advanced Task Killer" which I have noticed something that is really confusing me. If I kill all of the apps running, then check back moments later there are a ton of installed apps running in the background which I did not launch. Example: right now there are 27 apps running in the background. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Every so often I check my memory with Advanced Task Manager and I see certain applications running in the background and my available memory has dropped quite a bit. Now I am using the HTC Incredible so I still have about 127 MB free, however what concerns me the most is why the programs are even launching themselves in the first place. I could see some application having to start themselves, like a twitter client or an email client, however one of the programs that seems to be launching itself is the eBay app. I installed the app in case I wanted to view an ebay listing however I never use the program and it still seems to launch itself. Is this an example of a poor application design (i.e. ebay app) or is there some other reason these programs are launching themselves?

I'm launching a webbrowser via an intent, which allows my app user to login to Google Docs in a 2-legged oauth dance. This works fine, and the browser callback comes to my app with the right authentication string.
I just want to be able to kill that browser window once we are done - having it sitting there is confusing and messy.
How can I kill a browser window I started up?

I have a simple list view with some check boxes in an alert dialog. I need to option to add a select all/none but you can't bring up the menu in an alert dialog, and I want to do this function from a button. From what I've seen any kind of button (positive, neutral, and negative) all close the dialog regardless.
So, is this possible? If no, what alternatives do I have? My last mitigation is to simply create a new view and recreate everything. Is a new view the best solution?

Brand new to droid land, and was wondering.yesterday I got a droid 2. from playing with it all day, at the end of the day, it seemed overly sluggish. so, I was wondering ,when I am in an application like the browser, to exit it, I just tap the hooked arrow key on the phone, guess it's like a back button. anyhow, I just tap that until I get back to the home screen. so, if I do that for every application I run, does that mean at the days end, I've got however many apps running in the background?

Although I have seen several threads and tutorials on this topic, I guess I still have some confusion on how an application can be chosen from a list of applications to display a file.
I have a Activity which has a list view in it. This list view is bound with file paths (so a file browser of sorts). When we click on a specific file type, I need a list of applications that can open that file.
So far this is what I have in the OnItemClick for the list item:
CODE:............
When I run this on my phone, the error is:
No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW cat=[android.intent.category.DEFAULT] dat=file:///
When I do the same in a file browser application (downloaded from the marketplace), I get two options (QuickOffice and Word to Go), both of which I have installed on my phone.
Could someone guide me as to what else is needed here? Things I have tried besides the above:
Add the following entries to the manifest:
CODE:................

Why don't apps on Android have Close/Exit? I never know if an app is truly turned off. Internet is perfect example. If I have navigated down a series of web pages and hit the return button, when I reopen the internet it's on that last page as opposed to the home page.

I have noticed that many of my applications seem to automatically close making the phone seem "slower" when I try to reopen recently opened applications. The main applications that I have noticed closing are Handcent and the home screen (extremely annoying when the home screen needs to reload randomly). I have Advanced Task Manager (put the items i dont want closed on exclude) and noticed that when i click refresh some of the items sometimes disappear. I've tried turning off Advanced Task Manager and still have the some issue...Here are some things to know about my droid:
Rooted, Running Bugless Beast v1.0 -
Running at up to 1ghz (tried lowering and didn't make a difference)
Using Helix Launcher 2 (tried switched to default home screen and also no difference)

I download and installed Koush's Froyo Rom in ROM Manager. After I logged into my google account, and everything synced down, I got a message in the notification bar saying "35 applications restored"? My applications didn't get restored when I went from DroidMod 1.0, wiped everything, and then went to CyanogenMod 5.0.7.1 with a full wipe of 2.1. Is this a new feature of 2.2?

Are new applications automatically stored on the memory card? Do all photos/videos go to the memory card by default? What is the max memory this phone can handle? Can photos/videos be renamed? I haven't been able to find an menu setting to do this.

I've just started picking up Android development for a personal project I’m working on. It’s a very simple app that just sends color values to a web service. However, testing this app has been a nightmare. I’m using Eclipse with a Galaxy S4 and the first time I uploaded my program to the device, it worked pretty much as I intended. I noticed some typos in my Toasts so I went back to fix them and tried to rebuild and reupload and Eclipse was got stuck at “Launching myProject: (100%) and refuses to move beyond that. I’ve done a Clean and rebuild and tried unplugging my device and it uploads maybe 1 out of every 20 attempts. I literally spent about three hours trying to fix this last weekend and even did a removal of Eclipse and the Android SDK and started fresh but no dice. Running adb devices from the command line shows my device but it hangs when I run adb install. This app and project would have been done several days ago if not for these issues.
I don't want to use the emulator as it takes forever to boot up and is incredibly slow
