HTC Hero : Aim App Always Open / How To Close?

The AOL INSTANT MESSENGER (AIM) app is always open for some reason.. I see the Icon on the notification bar and it never goes away, even when I sign out of aim.. This is keeping my awake time at 50%.. Besides rebooting does anyone have a fix for this.. I dont download 3rd party task managers and apps because they seem to slow down the performance of the hero.. I think partiallly because it skipped the 1.6 and cupcake builds.. However there is an internal task manager (Applications>Manage apps> Menu/filter by running) but a force stop here seems not to fix the problem

I'm new to android, and i just got my htc hero, how do you close applications. I mean, i open an app and when i'm finished with the app then click the "back" button or the "home button" to open another app, but seems when i long-press the "home" button, previous apps are still open... the only thing that sort of close all the apps when i turn off & on the phone. how do you close apps?

I am just wondering about this.....I had the same issue with my old LG phone..is it because all these phones have a flash memory? Are there any app's besides task managers that can close the app's for good?

This morning my camera and video camera would open and then immediately close down. I shut the phone down and rebooted. Camera still did not open. Next, I shutdown the phone and removed the battery. After a few moments, I reinstalled the battery and rebooted. The camera still would not open. I had to do other work, so I just set the phone aside for a few hours. When I came back, I tried the camera again and after a short pause it opened, but not as smoothly as in the past. It is still not opening as it should. First it displays a very quick view of the desktop with an error message. It goes too fast for me to read and then it opens the camera app.

So I'm running 2.2 and now my camera wont work. I can open and take pictures using an Fx camera, but anytime I try to open the camera or camcorder it will open for maybe 2 seconds then just close, sometimes my screen will just be completely black, and also sometimes it tells me camera not available try again another time.

Following are details of my Cell --
Model: Samsung Galaxy S Duos (GT-S7562)
ROM: PMP Ultra 8.5.1
Issue:Recently, I switched my s duos from official Stock OS/ROM to PMP Ultra 8.5.1 for better features an usability. As I could see that after installing some apps(~8-10 in count), apps such as Gmail(while opening particular email), Link2SD, Gallery gets shutdown as soon as try to open them.
This issue happens after some time rebboting cell, and persist until next reboot, I could see that I have enough space and RAM available to manage yet more apps.

I am new to the whole rotting thing, I installed the bugless beast on my droid 2 days ago and everything went great and it worked fine, I'm just having an issue with it being really lagy at times and the biggest problem is that it freezes everytime I open or close the keyoard, I have to forse close and wait for it to load everything up again, a message is desplayed and it says:
The application launcher+(process android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then I hit forse close, it usually only happens when I open or close the keyboard but sometime it will happen at random. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it.

Is there an application (or one in the works) that will allow us to apply a sound effect to the slider opening and closing? Maybe base it off of when the screen rotates + keyboard lights up? I would love to apply 2 seperate notifications. One for open and one for close. Anyone got an application like this in the works or know of one that would work on Samsung Moment? I know there is a notification for when you unplug the power, but I'd love to have 2 seperate from that for JUST the slider. I can't believe we can't modify seperate notification sounds custom without apps.

I have an Android game that has an activity for the menu, and then another activity for the game that creates a SurfaceView and Thread to deal with canvas drawing and game logic. When you exit the game and start it up again too much or if you open and close the keyboard (thus restarting the activity), the game runs out of memory, usually when loading a bitmap: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget keeping all my images in memory without loading them again.

I already had one to replace the one that it comes with at home so I didn't have Sprint open it to replace it. I forgot to ask as well.I've searched online and the "chin" hero seems to have a little dent where you can prop it open. The Sprint Hero looks pretty solid... but I know you have to open it to replace the SD card so my question is how do I do it without ruining the molding?

since the latest stable, and now the 133 full, it seems like 5 or 6 times a day im getting LPP force closes. Anyone else getting this or know of a way to fix this? Could there be something Im doing to cause this? Just to clarify, it happens when trying to hit an icon, as well as when trying to close an app with the back button. In the past, I have hit the home button to exit out, but since made an attempt to change my habits, as it seems hitting home keeps the app running.

I'm on Orange and have the new ROM. Ever since it was installed I am getting force close errors on the Calendar service when I try and run the Android calendar. I get the error when I clock the calendar icon and then it is OK when I try a second time. I use Quick Calendar as well to provide a widget with next 2 appointments on - sometimes this report calendat service not found. All my appointments are synced from Outlook (not Exchange). Anyone else getting these force closes?

Has anyone else been unable to sync your Hero due to a force close of the pc_synchronisation?
My PC finds my phone without a problem, HTC Sync runs fine on my PC, the sync runs for about 10-15% until the pc_synchronisation force close pops up on my hero and the sync fails on my PC with the error mobile connection time out
I can find a lot of queries/answers about HTC Sync problems on PCs but I can't find anyone having the problem from the Hero side of the sync.
I'm running Windows Vista, have restarted PC and/or phone so many times and done a factory reset on the phone (which was a real pain and not something I fancy doing again!)
As the only thing I'm left with is that the sync software is faulty in the HTC and I'm facing sending the phone away or getting a new one - neither of which appeals

I use the calendar app for everything..(standard calendar app) and lately i have been getting alot of force closes after entering an event...i was putting in my softball schedule and after 2 or so games, it would force close...i have had this phone for over a month now and it just now started to do this...any ideas on a fix for this?

So i partitioned my SD card per the instructions listed on Flipz site and it was working flawlessly! I couldn't believe it! Then I had to reboot, and that's when the Force Closes started and the phone started dragging like a dog. I'm using a Class 2 card, so that may explain the lag, but why the FCs?
I'm hoping I'm still able to use Apps2SD successfully and that a wipe/restore will fix this, because there just isn't a lot of internal memory to play with.
Fresh 2.1 is out now though, so I may just say screw it and start new. I just don't want to have to set the phone up again and reinstall apps.

I have noticed several times that after updating an application in the Market, the app will never work again. This has happened with Pandora, Key Ring Finder, Audio Manager and countless other apps. With some other apps, after updating the application, it will work fine, but the name will change to something odd like com.chompsms.Well, i was reading through Key Ring Finder update and realized that something is occuring specifically with the HTC Hero that is causing this with application updates.But there is a ::drum roll please:: workaround! When updating an app, do not select the 'update' option! This is where the programs become corrupt. Instead, click 'uninstall', then reinstall the application. The freshly installed copy will work perfectly!

With my old phone I got into the habit of racking up thousands of messages before I bothered to delete them all. I have done this on my phone and now when I go to delete the thread it crashes and eventually forces me to close! It does this every time and as a result the messages keep building up.

I tryed chomp and I can send text but not revive messages . if I cant fix this I will have to go back to 2.1 Villain 12. what can I try ?
