General :: Root Uninstaller Shows Apps From Previous ROMs?
Jul 23, 2013
This is a weird issue I found when using Root Uninstaller..
Those are apps I had installed in my previous rom (and some are even from the one I had before it!).Is there a way to clear the info of those apps I don't have anymore?
Device: Samsung Galaxy SII (i9100)
Rom: AOKP M2

I have an HTC One X which is rooted, and I am wondering is there a way (or an app) to uninstall other apps without going through the normal uninstaller?
It'd be much faster to select a load of apps and have the phone uninstall them automatically..
I'm asking here rather than the HTC One X area because this is relative to any Android phone.

I have been gone for awhile with life stuff, sorry this wasn't updated. I wont be updating this as I don't have an Eris anymore, but if you want the best info head over to XDA Eris Android Development section. Or if your looking for Android News or other tech news head over to: Hope to see you all in the Incredible or Droid X section. Remember.... ?Never take a person's dignity: it is worth everything to them, and nothing to you.? 2.1 LEAKS & RELEASES & ROOT
I think it's getting confusing w/ all these releases. Let's summarize:Original root: Filename PB00IMG.zip. An "unofficial official" ROM that provides you with initial root. Can only be flashed from a phone running 1.5. Not to be confused with any of the "unofficial official" 2.1 leaks that don't have root.
2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Also an "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.5 phone to a 2.1 un-rooted OS. New 2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Another "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.2 or "2.1 leak" phone to the most recently available un-rooted version of Android 2.1.
** By "unofficial official" I mean that the ROM's are signed by HTC and must be installed from the phone's bootloader. We cannot edit and repack files to be loaded using the phone's stock bootloader, as we cannot sign these ROM's ourselves...........

Perhaps it was only a one time occurrence, but long story short I can confirm that if you have a rooted phone, make a backup, unroot for some reason, then reroot, you can in fact restore to your backup.

I have installed a few custom ROMs, but i'm a noob when it comes to phones, and every time i switch ROMs i start fresh with apps: redownloading them (about 100 from amazon and google), reconfiguring my home pages, and all games start back at level 1. it takes a long time to do all this, but i assumed that switching ROMs is like switching PCs (you need new drivers, you need to reinstall programs, etc, so you can't just copy A to B).
Is there some better way to automate this so that any of the following are true?
-my apps reinstall themselves in a step or two?
-my homepages are reconstructed automatically? i'm guessing this is the least likely, since homepages/launchers/etc probably differ per ROM.
-my game/app data is saved and restored easily? my kids don't want to lose their ice age village
I have titanium backup free, which i have used for complete backups in the event of a phone crash or something, but i don't know about app transfers across ROMs.
(I'm going from rooted stock to CM10 on my nook tablet, if that matters).

I'm new to android, and i just got my htc hero, how do you close applications. I mean, i open an app and when i'm finished with the app then click the "back" button or the "home button" to open another app, but seems when i long-press the "home" button, previous apps are still open... the only thing that sort of close all the apps when i turn off & on the phone. how do you close apps?

I am using this awesome AOKP ROM that lately has had a lot of nightlies. I have found that going back into the play store and redownloading every app.
Also when I do reinstall my apps, all the app data (game progress user logins etc) are gone. How can I back that up?
And finally if I do back up the data from the apps, will that mess with my ROM at all? SGH-I747

I'm looking for an backup application which will allow me to backup my apps and system data on roms based on stock ICS and restore to JB and vice versa.
Titanium backup does the job but after restoring on a new rom I get a lot of fc's and none of the apps works. I cannot restore call log and text messages, accounts, etc.
There's a lot of backup apps, I know. But I would like to be sure that they work as they should. Any app which will do the job?

Ok, there is literally no way that I'm the only one who has asked this question but I can't find the answer by searching. Here's my problem, after I flash my rom and restart my phone the market begins auto-downloading all the apps I previously had installed. I do not want this bc I use titanium backup for all of that.
I know I can avoid it temporarily if I skip entering my email address, but there has to be a setting for me to un check that will make it not try to auto download anything once I do add my account.
I'm sure you guys have all run into this by now, so can someone please tell me what setting will resolve this issue?

I'm trying to create an app that will inject any time an app is uninstalled. Is there a standard uninstaller function that is called regardless of the method used (like via the Marketplace, settings manager, or a third party app)? And is it possible to kill this function before it starts?
Ideally, I'd like to create a listener that listens for the uninstaller function and then injects a standard confirm/cancel dialogue.

So I rooted a few days ago using Universal 1 Click Method and flashed Xxtrasense ROM immediately (in step 4 of the instructions below).
Step 1) download and install this APK:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8699733/erisone010.apk - VERSION 0.1.0
Step 2) Run, read disclaimer, press button
Step 3) Reboot, once rebooted your phone should have Amon's recovery. Yay.
Step 4) Use the recovery to flash rootme.zip that is now on your SDCard, or the custom rom of your choice.
Step 5) Go into settings, and turn usb debugging on. After you have root, please uninstall this app.
I want to try new ROMs and have read through a number of threads but its only confused me more on the next steps. Questions are:
1. Do I need to do a NAND or NAND+ext backup (I've done a NAND back up shortly after flashing the Xtrasense ROM)?
2. Is Titanium Backup the only way to get my Apps and data transferred to any new ROMs I flash?
3. At what point is a dalvik wipe required?
If someone is able to provide a step-by-step outline (similar to jcase's 1-click eris root noted above).

Please read this before you assume I'm an idiot Anyways, so my thinking is, we can root our Droid X. This gives us access to every system file. amirite? If that's the case, shouldn't it be possible to literally replace everything using some super user priviledged apk? I know linux well, and I know some android development stuff, but I don't know anything about custom roms (on android at least) and how efuse works, so I obviously could be completely off base here. The only hitch I see would be that while the phone is running, many many many of these files are likely in use. It just seems there would be some way to close everything (and I mean EVERYTHING), with the phone still running, and replace all system files with a new set.Now I'm not entirely savvy on how efuse works, and I'm even less sure on how changing the system this way would, from efuse's eyes, differ from a full custom rom flashing, and if, if it did work, you'd still be bricked on the next reboot.Thoughts? I mean it at least seems that we could find a way to replace motoBlur.

I rooted and installed Aloysius and I like it a lot! But I want to try the new Sense-Able or Evil Eris (or any stable rom that supports overclocking) - is this difficult to do? Everybody is posting about trying out all sorts of different roms on their phones but I'm having trouble figuring out that part of the process.

Im thinking of buying my brother a X10 but i have a few questions to ask first. I currently have a HTC desire so i prefer android phones now.
1. I see that its possible to root the phone but there does not seem to be much ROMS available. Is there any reason for this?
2. The main reason i wanted to root and change ROM was to install A2SD but the X10 has much higher internal memory at 1GB. But can i still install A2SD+?
3. I see that you can officially get the 2.1 update now, but are there any custom 2.2 ROMS available?

I tried installing "Black Hole Live" wallpaper from the PlayStore, it failed to install BUT left some sort of remnants in the "Apps Listing" that will not allow being uninstalled. It shows as 00B on all "storage" and is "Disabled". Being from IT, I like things clean and tiddy. This remnant refuses to uninstall, I've even looked everywhere it could reside using ES File Explorer, nothing. HOW do I get rid of this stinker??
Second: I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have to ask again if not. There are Apps that are put on the device from the factory, buried somewhere in the OS, that aren't "free" apps after a ridiculously short "Trial Period". I want to remove them, they're using up storage space and I don't use them. One in particular with an absurd 7 day free trial is PRESS READER. I want it off! I downloaded an Uninstaller called "Root Uninstaller APK", but it shows nothing that any other Uninstaller does and Press Reader is not shown.

I was going through my Uninstaller App today to see what apps I really haven't been using much lately, because even though I have apps2sd, my internal memory is down to 23mb. Despite clearing the cache with cachmate. I have a bunch of apps, and know that they are all taking up cache, but daaaaamn, they take up a lot, lol. I have a 16gb, i think "kingston" sd card, and doubt it's a class 6 (because my wife got it at the sprint store), so I'm not comfortable moving all my dalvik cache onto it in case it screws something up, or makes it super slow. Sorry, got a little off topic. So I came across "com.htc 2.1-update1 10998kb", and wasn't sure if I would brick my phone by deleting it. It's obviously taking up some of my internal memory, and I'd like to have that room back lol. Does anyone know if I'll brick my phone if I delete it, or if it will be just fine if I delete it? I'm running 1.5, with Aloysius 2.1 LWP w/ OC. I refuse to upgrade to 2.1 and lose root. Unless someone has finally found a way to get root again after updating to 2.1?
