HTC Hero :: Updating New Google Account - Unable To Backup

I changed my main Google/gmail account recently, and decided to update my Hero, but having cleared the data from Google Apps (in Manage Applications) I now can't connect my new account due to the problems described here and here. I'm pretty much resigned to doing a factory reset (annoying though), but is there any way I can back up SMS messages? Some data I can extract from the SD Card, but I can't install anything to backup SMS as I'm unable to install anything from the market. So if anyone has any info on either of these issues I'd be really grateful - I'd either like to avoid having to do a reset, or find some way of backing-up without having access to the market.

I got a htc hero on orange a couple of weeks ago and cannot set up a google account.When i try it says "cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server.This could be a temporary problem or your Sim card may not be provisioned for data services.If it continues call customer care".Am i doing something wrong or is their something i need to do to get this working.

MY messages ARE IMPORTANT, But I cannot unlock phone because of my brother that did too much pattern tries. Then Google account appeared telling me to input my gmail and password but i cannot open it maybe because of my wifi is turned off. how to backup my sms messages even if its locked.

I am just wondering if anyone else is having an issue when trying to connect to Google? I have had zero luck since I purchased the phone yesterday. Signing in... Your phone is communicating with Google servers and setting up your account. This may take up to five minutes. Then two minutes into it the screen goes blank and I get this message: Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care.
Well, after 2 calls to customers care I am still getting the same error. I have full internet access, data capability and even setup my gmail account as the email to use. I can send and receive email/sms/mms, calls, etc... Anyone else have something for me to try before returning the phone to Sprint? (it was purchased at BB).

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S a few days back and was able to sign into the Android market via my gmail account. I even managed to download the BarCode scanner application.That's where the problems begun. Since auto-sync was on, all my gmail contacts were synced with my phone contacts. Now since I did not want to see my gmail contacts every time I try and make a call, I performed a factory reset on the phone (since there was no other way to get rid of all the gmail contacts at once). I then turned sync off and tried to sign in to my Google account, but it refused to do so. I get a message saying: "Unable to establish a reliable connection with server. This may be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please contact customer care if the problem persists." I even tried connecting with sync on just for the heck of it but it still did not work.The Samsung Customer Care service in India is truly pathetic. They said that: "We do not provide support for such technical problem" Wtf? They then proceeded to give a regional center number, which when I called.

I finally installing 2.1 with all English menus.that worked in china.However I cant get my contacts and calendar to sync with google.The mail client works fine with no hitches.But I cant add the google account.when I enter in the full server name:
https://mail.google.com
the next button is grayed out.the only way it will let me proceed is if I remove the https:// and then it try to connect.but it then says :" unable to open connection to server"Any help for what is more than likely an extraordinarily simple problem?

Few days ago i had trouble with the keyboard of my X10, it was, for unknown reason, lock in Korean and i couldn't change it.So i decided to reset my phone to factory setup. This worked and the keyboard came back to french.But now i can't access to any Google app, as Market, Gmail, etc.It's asking me to log in to my google account (it never ask me that before, even when i bought the phone), but it's always telling me that my password is wrong and advice me to connect http:/google.com/accounts on my PC. I did it and i can access to my google account without any problem.Then i updated my phone to Android 2.1, but it didn't solve anything, i tried to repair it with Update service and PC Companion, but it didn't help more.I found on internet that i could put "null" as my password, but then it's asking me to reproduce a capcha, i did but it's asking me to reproduce another one, again and again.I noticed than my phone seems to have some trouble to connect with my SIM card, don't know if it's link.I don't really want to send my phone to repair for 3 weeks, but this is becoming really annoying, what can i do ?

I was trying to setup google account by choosing "Data Synchronization-> Google Sync" It was asking my google account and I was signing in it says "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. Please try again when you are connected. It it continues, call Customer Care."
In my mobile Airtel Live is active. I tried contacting Airtel Customer Care. They say that "this connectivity problem is with you phone. Please contact Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, customer care. I tried "Sony Ericsson Xperia Customer Care, No Use. I'm tired of doing this and I'm frustrated of not using any useful application by having this costly xperia in my hand.

Is it possible to use a google account for features such as google contacts and latitude? I know this is not possible for Android market, but would it be possible for other google products? I saw it is possible on this Android 2.0 review: Android 2.0 Review: Almost Human Did they remove this feature from the 2.1 that Hero uses, or can't I just find it?

I used Google Maps as I had some running around to do. I was not using GPS, I have it turned off and have full HSPA (H) showing on phone. Anyways, I put in my first stop and GMaps gave me the directions right away... so no problem.After I was done at the first place, I put in my second stop. GMaps showed exactly the same directions . I've been home now for about 1/2 and still, the exact same directions no matter what I put in.I have not turned the phone off/on or anything like that, because quite frankly, I shouldn't have to!Anyone get this happening with GMaps?

I haven't been able to figure out how to change the google account I originally activated my hero with. The reason i want to change it is because my gmail app only opens email from that account, and I used a new gmail account to register my phone with that was specifically for my contacts, and now i cant check my other gmail accounts email. anyone know a good solution without having to format?

The Wife is up town now getting me the HTC Hero. I've just watched a vid on the internet where it says I need a google account. Ok, I signed up but what's it for? What do I do with it? Also, I need to be able to get emails on my phone, Can I set it up to recieve from ,say my work account and my hotmail account?

Newb here. We got my wife and I HTC Heros about a month ago and I am trying to come up to speed but there is a lot to learn and a lot to figure out. My wife's phone gets backed up on her mail server at work because her IT guy set her up to get her work email on her phone. She has some quirks with her system but we are working through those.
My problem is that I do not want work email on my phone so I am flying solo for backup. I cannot get HTC Sync to work on my home computer and I am trying to embrace the cloud. I have a google mail account but for the life of me I cannot get my phone to backup to my google account. It never asks me to sync and I cannot find any button on my google pages to initiate backup. And my contact list and calender on google remain empty yet the contacts and calander on my phone have stuff to backup.

I just got a Hero from orange, everything is great, I can browse the internet, sync my exchange emails etc however whenever I try to sign in to my google account to use market, gmail etc it says that my sim is not provisioned for Data!

I bought a HTC Hero the other day and when I started it the first time I must have gotten the google account password wrong, cause everytime I start the phone it says I have to reenter a valid password before it will synchronize, How do I tell it the right password so I dont have to reenter it all the time?

When I initally got my HTC Hero, I created a google account using my gmail address.In the meantime I have changed my gmail address and now I don't know how to change it on the phone.Therefor it keeps asking me to log-on, but to the wrong e-mail address.Please, help me to change my Google account so I can refer to my new gmail address and hence start receiving e-mails on my phone again?

I wanted to change the Google account that my phone was linked to, so I cleared the google app. Now when I try to sign in using my google account to link the phone with the phone (the new one or the old one) it asks for my login info, then says Signing in and says it may take up to 5 minutes. Then it gives me a message that says: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care." I have called customer care and they can't figure it out. They told me I need to go to a Sprint Store that does service, but there isn't one very close to me, so I'd rather not take half a day to drive there if I don't have to.
I have full bars and everything else works great. I can get my email, use the internet and do everything else that doesn't require the use of the google account. But I can't use the google mail feature or go to the Marketplace. I'm using 1.56.651.2 and haven't really done anything else to the phone as far as changing settings or rooting or anything.

Is there a way i can group all my contacts to my Google account that are saved to phone. I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. So for future references I will save to google, I just want to know if the current contacts now can be saved to Google grouped or i have to go in and do them individually.

I updated the firmware on my HTC Hero some time ago from Modaco to Firmware 1.5.I just got an N1, so I restored the Hero to give to my wife, and the next thing I noticed is there was no Google Maps. I went in to the Market and again...I couldn't even pull it in a search even though I pulled it in searches on my N1.
Does anyone know what's up here? Do I need to upgrade my firmware? If so, does anyone have a link to the install?

For some reason, I can only see my personal calendar and my exchange calendar on my Hero even my studio and wife's calendar are shared to my account. I seem fine on my PC but I can't see them on my phone. My wife has a hero and she can see my calendar and the studio calendar without any issues.

Every time I open Google Maps, a little pop-up window says "Unable to load the URL" The program works fine, it's just kind of annoying. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a known solution? I cleared the cache and data and force-stopped the ap, but it still happens. For what it's worth, the same exact thing happened on my Moment (well, on the Moment Google Maps didn't work at all due to the POS GPS)

I have rooted my phone, backed up with android, and installed the darchstar 2.8 ROM.I love the senseless UI and am really glad that I did it.The only problem is I cannot find the Market app.I have downloaded the Google Shits file but I have been unable to install it.Can someone point me in the right direction so I can get access to the market?

Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.
