I have a UK Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1-update 1.
Yesterday all my contacts and my google accounts, to which they were synchronised, disappeared. Just like that, out of the blue.
I tried to add the google account again, but I keep getting a "can't establish reliable data connection" error. It is not a network access issue because internet and email (imap, not gmail) work fine, plus I tried with two different SIMs and with Wi-Fi, but to no avail.
I read about people deleting some files from their rooted Android and/or hard resetting their phones, but these fixes don't seem to always work and I'd rather try something else first.
I must say that, even though I like Android, I am getting very annoyed at how unreliable and buggy it has proven compared to my iphone and blackberry. Is it too much to ask to have a phone that doesn't reboot every other minute and that doesn't delete your contacts?

so I just convinced my boss that we should switch from our costly Ms exchange solution to google apps, as it can do all the same stuff we need and more. We all have Android phones and I have set up my HTC Desire (Android 2.2 sense UI) to sync with my google apps account, no problem. However my boss have the Motorola Milestone, and his android version just wont sync with his google account. Every time I try adding a google account with his mail address (name@ourdomain.dk), I just get a no network connection error. But I can browse internet and youtube just fine.I have searched the forums, and it seems other people can add their google apps accounts just fine, while some have problems.

Been reading hotmail is now available to be setup as an exchange account. I've been readying have successfully been able to setup their droid phones this way but heard EVO users were having difficulties. I was not able to sync with the hotmail exchange account and wanted to see if any other Evo users have been successful.

I just got a milestone and tried out the google navigation, it pegged me int he right city like 4 seconds which is good, but then proceeded to say its only accurate to 5000m and said I was on the edge of town, when I was in fact in the center as a store, is there a way to improve accuracy? does it get better when you go into big cities? Can I change the tracker or something? Does it help if I leave the maps on quicker? I only left it open for about 15 seconds, someone said that the gps tracker is very slow, is there a way to change it? I am planning on rooting this phone very soon so let me know.

A friend picked up the EVO on launch day, from Radio Shack where they just handed it to her and offered no kind of walkthrough. I've been trying to hep her get used to the phone, and to Android (I've got an Incredible). There's one big problem, and I've searched the forums and can't seem to find an answer. When she tries to add her Google account (****@gmail.com) in Accounts & Sync, it accepts her account name and password, and says the login was successful. When she hits the "Next" button, it brings her back to the Add a Google Account screen, where the options are to "Create" and "Sign In". Repeated the process multiple times with the same results. Is it just a matter of continuing to sign in until it works? Would a factory reset help?

I have 2 gmail accounts. Unfortunately, one of them is for my calendar and contacts and the other is for my personal e-mail. As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.

I am just wondering if anyone else is having an issue when trying to connect to Google? I have had zero luck since I purchased the phone yesterday. Signing in... Your phone is communicating with Google servers and setting up your account. This may take up to five minutes. Then two minutes into it the screen goes blank and I get this message: Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care.
Well, after 2 calls to customers care I am still getting the same error. I have full internet access, data capability and even setup my gmail account as the email to use. I can send and receive email/sms/mms, calls, etc... Anyone else have something for me to try before returning the phone to Sprint? (it was purchased at BB).

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S a few days back and was able to sign into the Android market via my gmail account. I even managed to download the BarCode scanner application. That's where the problems begun. Since auto-sync was on, all my gmail contacts were synced with my phone contacts. Now since I did not want to see my gmail contacts every time I try and make a call, I performed a factory reset on the phone (since there was no other way to get rid of all the gmail contacts at once). I then turned sync off and tried to sign in to my Google account, but it refused to do so. I get a message saying: "Unable to establish a reliable connection with server. This may be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please contact customer care if the problem persists." I even tried connecting with sync on just for the heck of it but it still did not work. The Samsung Customer Care service in India is truly pathetic. They said that: "We do not provide support for such technical problem" Wtf? They then proceeded to give a regional center number, which when I called.

I changed my main Google/gmail account recently, and decided to update my Hero, but having cleared the data from Google Apps (in Manage Applications) I now can't connect my new account due to the problems described here and here. I'm pretty much resigned to doing a factory reset (annoying though), but is there any way I can back up SMS messages? Some data I can extract from the SD Card, but I can't install anything to backup SMS as I'm unable to install anything from the market. So if anyone has any info on either of these issues I'd be really grateful - I'd either like to avoid having to do a reset, or find some way of backing-up without having access to the market.

Few days ago i had trouble with the keyboard of my X10, it was, for unknown reason, lock in Korean and i couldn't change it.So i decided to reset my phone to factory setup. This worked and the keyboard came back to french. But now i can't access to any Google app, as Market, Gmail, etc. It's asking me to log in to my google account (it never ask me that before, even when i bought the phone), but it's always telling me that my password is wrong and advice me to connect http:/google.com/accounts on my PC. I did it and i can access to my google account without any problem. Then i updated my phone to Android 2.1, but it didn't solve anything, i tried to repair it with Update service and PC Companion, but it didn't help more.I found on internet that i could put "null" as my password, but then it's asking me to reproduce a capcha, i did but it's asking me to reproduce another one, again and again.I noticed than my phone seems to have some trouble to connect with my SIM card, don't know if it's link.I don't really want to send my phone to repair for 3 weeks, but this is becoming really annoying, what can i do ?

I'm trying to add the primary Gmail account to my new Milestone with 2.1.I tried all the three ways that requires you to add such account as a 1st step:
- Through the "Gmail" button.
- Through the "Market" button.
- Through "Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account > Google" And I tried both via WiFi and via 3G.

I was trying to setup google account by choosing "Data Synchronization-> Google Sync" It was asking my google account and I was signing in it says "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. Please try again when you are connected. It it continues, call Customer Care."
In my mobile Airtel Live is active. I tried contacting Airtel Customer Care. They say that "this connectivity problem is with you phone. Please contact Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, customer care. I tried "Sony Ericsson Xperia Customer Care, No Use. I'm tired of doing this and I'm frustrated of not using any useful application by having this costly xperia in my hand.

What exactly is "Sync Internet" and how come it is failing on more than one device?

Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

I did all the steps I could, but I still can't get the phone to sync with my sister's Google account. It locked up and perma-black screened after rooting and installing launcher pro, so I tried to use the backup from Odin to save it. Saved the phone. Seems to work. The verizon backup option successfully restores her contact info.I can't get it to sync with her google account, and I am LOSING MY MIND because I have to leave early tomorrow morning, and I don't want to leave my sis. with a broken phone. And where in the heck do you get the oft-mentioned "update.zip" file from?

I get emails to my yahoo account from an organization that puts links in its emails.
I have to click on some of these links to email the organization. Clicking one of these links opens up an email with a form I have to fill out.
I'm having a problem using my yahoo email because of something google does involving sync. This is on my nexus 7 which I bought in 2012.When I click on a link in an email, a full-screen window opens up that says
Gmail Account not synced / This account isn't set up to sync automatically.
Touch Sync Now to sync mail once, or Change Sync Settings to set up this account to sync mail automatically.
At the bottom of the screen it has "Sync now" and "Change sync settings" buttons.
I don't want to have to sync; I would just like to avoid or opt out of the whole thing and use the computer normally, without any interference from google. But for what it's worth, I have tried syncing. It never works. I have gone into settings and tried changing sync on and off, I have tried logging out of my gmail account, rebooting; I can never get the link to work. Always the window pops up when I click on an email link.
I have tried copy-pasting the link to the url window (same thing happens). I have copy-pasted it into a text editor and examined it. It has mailto followed by the organization's email address and a string of commands that creates the form-letter body of the email. I need that form letter, I can't just open a blank email to the organization.

I have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.

I've recently (today, earlier & just now) added a few Google contacts to my phone. They don't appear in my contacts on my GoogleMail web page. I've manually synced them on the phone and refreshed the web page to no avail.I created one much earlier on (maybe even yesterday) and it's there. If I create a new contact on the web it appears almost immediately on the phone.

I'm trying to purchase an app, but everytime I enter in my Google Apps premier account info, it just takes me back to the Account Sync page. The app never gets purchased. Is there a way I can fix this issue? I have purchased numerous things using my Google Apps account and all the information is current.
I did a number of searches regarding this issue, but either the question goes unanswered or the response is "just create another Google account to buy the app". I would rather not have to create another account just for this. If anyone knows how to correct this, please let me know.

I just got my first android phone, a samsung galaxy s4 and love it. I have been able to set it up as I want for the most part. One thing I cant figure out though, how do you set google account sync to only sync over wifi? I know you can go into the data section and choose which apps can update over wifi, but I don't see one for google account sync. Is it called google services or something? In the google plus I was able to set it to update photos and videos over wifi, but what about the calendar, app data, drive etc.?

Up until November 2011 I had an older model Motorola Droid X. I was able to take photos using the phone camera and those photos would automatically sync with my Google accounts and could be accessed by Google+, Blogger, etc. All was well and I was happy.
In November 2011, I fried my Droid X when I spilled Gatorade on it and it was immediately replaced with a HTC Droid Incredible 2. I just downloaded Google+ (over six months after replacement) and the photos that I take NOW, sync just fine. But the photos that I took during the last 6-months did not synch up with my Google accounts.
Is there any way to synch the photos taken during the 6-month period that I did not have Google+ installed to be included in the Instant Upload?
