My hotmail account does not seem to update, a few times I have got the new email notification, but most of the time I have had to manually sync. I didn't have to do this with my DInc.p?

I am new to smart phone and got Samsung Fascinate.
I am using hotmail. I had to set up gmail account because it is required with this phone but I want to use hotmail as my main e-mail account on Fascinate. Does anyone know how to set up?
Mine didn't? But my Blackberry did.

View 6 Replies View RelatedLong time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself.And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. But there weren't any apps on the device in the first place that were really out of the ordinary.- Gmail POP3 Yahoo- Corporate E-Mail to Microsoft Exchange Server (No, it wasn't the Exchange Admin sending a kill package, I'm the Exchange Admin)

I have all of those apps and more on my Motorola Droid (also connected to the same Exchange Server) and my device is behaving just fine.I'm trying to think of reasons this might happen and I'm drawing a complete blank.

If you'd like to have your voice mail log in automatically (instead of having to type your password in) go to settings>call settings>Voicemail>
enter *86,1234#
1234 = whatever your pin is.
the "," is a 2 second pause. you may have to play with this and add another "," if it enters the pin too quickly after you call.
In the Fascinate, i use gmail as my stock mail , want to delete the other mail account. Could'nt find a delete option in the email settings.

It locked up and perma-black screened after rooting and installing launcher pro, so I tried to use the backup from Odin to save it. Saved the phone. Seems to work. The verizon backup option successfully restores her contact info.I can't get it to sync with her google account, and I am LOSING MY MIND because I have to leave early tomorrow morning, and I don't want to leave my sis. with a broken phone.And where in the heck do you get the oft-mentioned "update.zip" file from?

I have over 700 contacts and they're all grouped nice and neatly, but that doesn't seem to matter. Any way to merge the phone groups with the google accounts groups?

I'm guessing it has something to do with the screen with the sort of blank white canvas with two tabs underneath it - a pencil & 3 horizontal lines?! When you press on it it brings up the screen 'Choose a mail provider' with two options of 'Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync & Other (POP3/IMAP). Both options have thwarted my attempts and to be honest I've no real idea what I am doing. I've synced the phone with my outlook CALENDAR at work, but not the emails - again no idea how to do that! I have set my phone gmail up fine, but a blindfolded crippled donkey could do that.

I am able to receive my hotmail emails and can send them back but when I look on my laptop it still showed unread messages on both hotmail and outlook even when I have read them on my phone. On my Droid X I can add my hotmail account just fine but it starts importing all of my emails saying they're all new. It acts like as if because all of the emails are new to it then it thinks they're new and labels them new so if I have 100 emails that are in my hotmail account none of which are new. I get 100 notifications on my phone as it imports the emails in saying "new" email.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Hotmail account and I downloaded the Hotmail app and set up my email. However, when I delete an email on the phone I would like it NOT to delete on the server. I have tried looking everywhere for this setting ("Never delete from server") on both the app and on the server itself with no luck. I noticed the native email app has this setting but I prefer to use the hotmail app. I have also tried K-9, and while I really like the UI it has not been reliable in delivering my hotmail (gmail gets delivered right away).

Now hotmail supports PUSH email I figured I'd give it a go on my Desire but everytime I add the account, I always get an error message saying:

I have a BT Yahoo account working fine on it, but Hotmail refuses to work. O2 have sent me the settings and I have put them in manually too, still nothing works. The phone just sits for hours with the message "checking incoming server settings".

Tried tech support, but they were of no help. Said I needed to use gmail instead. Can't change everything over at this late date. Have archived stuff in hotmail going back years. Did I load hotmail to the X10 incorrectly? Is there a way around this? They may get the phone back.
