The Wife is up town now getting me the HTC Hero. I've just watched a vid on the internet where it says I need a google account. Ok, I signed up but what's it for? What do I do with it? Also, I need to be able to get emails on my phone, Can I set it up to recieve from ,say my work account and my hotmail account?

When I initally got my HTC Hero, I created a google account using my gmail address.In the meantime I have changed my gmail address and now I don't know how to change it on the phone.Therefor it keeps asking me to log-on, but to the wrong e-mail address.Please, help me to change my Google account so I can refer to my new gmail address and hence start receiving e-mails on my phone again?

So I setup another gmail from my home computer with my favored new address; however, now I cannot figure out how to delete my initial gmail account setting on my phone so I can setup my new one.

The reason i want to change it is because my gmail app only opens email from that account, and I used a new gmail account to register my phone with that was specifically for my contacts, and now i cant check my other gmail accounts email. anyone know a good solution without having to format?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a htc hero on orange a couple of weeks ago and cannot set up a google account.When i try it says "cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server.This could be a temporary problem or your Sim card may not be provisioned for data services.If it continues call customer care".Am i doing something wrong or is their something i need to do to get this working.

Is there something I need to do to find all my synced info? One reason I ask is because it looks like I might have to replace my 3-week-old EVO with a new one due to a defect it looks like it may have, and I want to make sure I know how to back up everything then reinstall to the new EVO.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI wanted to change the Google account that my phone was linked to, so I cleared the google app. Now when I try to sign in using my google account to link the phone with the phone (the new one or the old one) it asks for my login info, then says Signing in and says it may take up to 5 minutes. Then it gives me a message that says: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care." I have called customer care and they can't figure it out. They told me I need to go to a Sprint Store that does service, but there isn't one very close to me, so I'd rather not take half a day to drive there if I don't have to.
I have full bars and everything else works great. I can get my email, use the internet and do everything else that doesn't require the use of the google account. But I can't use the google mail feature or go to the Marketplace. I'm using 1.56.651.2 and haven't really done anything else to the phone as far as changing settings or rooting or anything.
I have contacts in my phone book that I entered manually and wanted to know if there was a way to sync them to my Gmail account in case something were to ever happen to my phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI changed my main Google/gmail account recently, and decided to update my Hero, but having cleared the data from Google Apps (in Manage Applications) I now can't connect my new account due to the problems described here and here. I'm pretty much resigned to doing a factory reset (annoying though), but is there any way I can back up SMS messages? Some data I can extract from the SD Card, but I can't install anything to backup SMS as I'm unable to install anything from the market. So if anyone has any info on either of these issues I'd be really grateful - I'd either like to avoid having to do a reset, or find some way of backing-up without having access to the market.

I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. So for future references I will save to google, I just want to know if the current contacts now can be saved to Google grouped or i have to go in and do them individually.

Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.
Into another android phone and use it like my eris? kind of like a SIM card on non verizon phones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThree times in the last week contact info has disappeared from my google contacts/phone (Incredible). Twice, with different contacts, the home phone numbers just disappeared from both the phone and my google account. Last Saturday I entered a completely new contact info for a friend (incl. a picture) and on Sunday the contact was gone both from my phone and my google account. I always enter this information on my computer via google contacts and then it does get successfully synced to my Incredible and is available for a while.
When the contact disappears it's gone both from my phone and my google account info, it doesn't show in "all contacts" either - it's gone for good. I have created a groupd called "New Friends" where these contacts were placed. I belive they are still also automatically part of "My Contacts". It's been easy to notice the disappearance since I only have a few contacts in this "New Friends" group. I worry about this happening, esp if it's not easy to notice. I've seen other threads with this type of problem over the years when I searched, but there doesn't seem to be a solution for this rather serious problem.
Who studied the way to load in maps in google maps? When we move the screen of google maps, the small maps will be loaded in quickly and pieces to pieces. I want to know the loading-in way or materials.

I can get user Account token from Android AccountManager API, how can i get the related email info from this AuthSub token? i've found no appropriate GData API so far
Why should i do this? i need to make sure the token and email are paired to avoid a fake token which not related to the email account.
My galaxy S2 was working fine. I used google play a couple of days ago without any problem and today when I tried to update my app systemPanel from google play (or any other app), I got the error:
Update for 'systemPanel app/Task Manager' could not be downloaded due to an error. (error retrieving info from server [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])
what exactly does it mean? I googled it and tried the clear data/cache of google play/google frame and it did not work.
I have also deleted then added back my gmail account and it did not work.
I couldn't install any app either. I got the same error when I tried to install any app from Google play store.
I use Google hosted apps with my own domain for e-mail, calendar, chat, etc. and I use the e-mail address from that with my main Google account as well. So, both my Google account and hosted apps account use the same address. I had no problem setting up my account on my phone when I got it Friday, but I've been running into a few issues. First off, every time I try to buy an app in the Market, it asks me to set up a Google account to associate it with, even though I already have. Also, when I try to use Google Listen, it asks the same thing. Is there a way around this, or will I have to create a separate Google/GMail account?
