Android :: Ultra Keyboard Or SlideIT
Oct 14, 2010I know Ultra comes with a lot of features. but I ONLY need the "swype" type features. and Money is not really an issue i know SlideIT costs more. which one works better overall for the Swype Features.

Sep 18, 2010Is there a way to get slideIT to have the number and symbol keys above the letter like in swype where you can just long press to get those to work? I love swype but sick of waiting for an official release and having to constantly find new apk's that work.

IMO slideIT is so much better..
I find it find my words better,,,deals with double letter better..i like how you can go back and it resuggests the word..i like how it puts a word on the line you are typing.. you dont have to look up to see if it guessed the right word..it puts a space before the word not after.. helpful when you forget to put a suffix like -s -ed -ing. they just did a update and its looks better then it did before..

Mar 2, 2010I'm using Swype now, but it is kind of frustrating me with its inconsistency adding words to the user dictionary. I also hate having to slide my finger off the keyboard to capitalize a letter and the fact that it doesn't auto-capitalize with new sentences. I used ShapeWriter previously, but I always had problems typing symbols with it, and the large number of proper nouns that came with its user dictionary really annoyed me. I have yet to try SlideIT.

Feb 22, 2010I had thought that the "Lite" version of SlideIT was nagware -- that you could use it for free as long as you were willing to put up with occasional interrupts by a pop-up asking you to buy the full version. That turns out not to be the case: the "Lite" version is actually a "demo" version that stops working after a while (apparently a week, if I have my dates straight).
Apart from the fact that it's deceptive advertising to promote a time-limited demo as a "Lite" version, the full version is still not available for purchase in the market.

Mar 24, 2010Trying slideit and love the horizontal word suggestions compared to vertical weird choice of swype but:
1) do I really have to hit shift then question mark or exclamation mark each time to punctuate?
2) if I write a word, then put in a numerical, there is no space
3) if I want to go back and as a letter to am already formed word, there is always a space put in automatically, impossible to change a word like dog into dogs, comes out like dog s
4) contacts not in slide it dictionary
Very possible its my inexperience, live swype, hate the venice distracting word suggestion
Android :: Ultra Keyboard Not Working
Oct 26, 2010Well after flushing down the toilet on Swift key I decided to flush some more on Ultra Keyboard and I can't even express my disappointment enough. What's the deal with these "suggestions"? I go to write a quick text message to someone and when I type in "Hi" the Ultra Keyboard 'suggests' that I meant "Highman". I with there was a way to just have these auto-correct spelling mistakes instead of trying to predict what I'm going to type because they are just terrible at it.

Jul 3, 2010I was typing on my keyboard (landscape view) and noticed that the "Y" key didn't work. I though it was nothing, until I tried to exit out of my navigation app, but the exit button wouldn't work. So i downloaded a draw app to see it maybe it was just my screen, and what do you know, i was able to draw swiping up and down holding the phone upright. But when trying it side to side, a whole panel doesn't work. wth? Tried to reboot and nothing. Anyone else have this issue? Looks like its back to sprint this evo goes. Peep the pics.

Sep 13, 2010Whenever possible I always use the landscape keyboard but have noticed that sometimes in messages (and web browser) that if I spot a mistake and use the trackpad or touch the screen to go back and correct whatever I type on the keyboard will not appear in the text. The keyboard still responds as you can see the popups for the keys when you press them but the text doe not go into the box. The only way I found to cure this is to close and reopen the keyboard and everything then starts working. I am running the recent OTA firmware update on a completely unrooted unbranded Desire.

Android :: Hide Soft Keyboard Not Working
May 9, 2010I'm developing on the Droid Incredible (and have tested on a 1.5 AVD Emulator as well), and one of the tabs in my tab widget consists of a listview and a row with an EditText and a Send button (for a chat feature). I am using the following to close the soft keyboard once I click Send, but it's not working. This is identical to code I've found elsewhere that people have upvoted as correct.
See anything I'm missing?

I also tried changing the flag to 0. No luck. Anyone know what's up? Just realized I was originally using hideSoftInputFromInputMethod() instead of hideSoftInputFromWindow(). Changing it didn't make it work though...

HTC Droid Eris :: Keyboard Randomly Stop Working
Apr 27, 2010Tipping I can stand all the pains of the Droid Eris, But the keyboard issue I've been having is on top of the list. The keyboard randomly stops working. I go to respond to a text, or search the Internet..And the keyboard shows the flashing line as if to type, But it wont type. I will randomly enter letters and the spell check box still pops up. I restart it, or remove the battery but once i turn it back on and try typing again and still same issue. Then 5 min later it works. Its random. Annoying. And Ideas what could cause it? or fix it?
