Android :: Slideit - Horizontal Word Suggestions Compared To Vertical Weird Choice Of Swype
Mar 24, 2010Trying slideit and love the horizontal word suggestions compared to vertical weird choice of swype but:
1) do I really have to hit shift then question mark or exclamation mark each time to punctuate?
2) if I write a word, then put in a numerical, there is no space
3) if I want to go back and as a letter to am already formed word, there is always a space put in automatically, impossible to change a word like dog into dogs, comes out like dog s
4) contacts not in slide it dictionary
Very possible its my inexperience, live swype, hate the venice distracting word suggestion

Sep 18, 2010Is there a way to get slideIT to have the number and symbol keys above the letter like in swype where you can just long press to get those to work? I love swype but sick of waiting for an official release and having to constantly find new apk's that work.

May 25, 2010Everything was fine (since 4/28) until yesterday....all of a sudden, there is a notification in the status bar for 2 new voice mails- I am, and have always used google voice for my voicemail - the notificaiton says to call my gv number, which is unusual, because it usually says that one of my contacts left a voicemail - anyhow, I have no new gv messages - went online and deleted all of them, also powered on and off the phone, even removed the check mark in settings to notify in the status bar......can't get rid of this this notification....there is no "clear" option, as you usually get when checking notifications from the menu button
Even calling my gv number manually, entering my pin, and hearing "you have no new messages" doesn't remove the notification from the status bar....this is very weird. Anyone else exp something like this from gv ?

May 26, 2010I finally found a way to erase the market search history and I thought I'd share with you all. Just download the free app "History Eraser". Install, select "google apps" then clear market search histories. All nice and clean after!

Sep 14, 2010I installed the OTA update 2.2 when it was delivered to my unrooted phone. I want to go back to 2.1, but when I go to settings>SD & phone storage>Factory data reset it gives the warning that it will NOT erase: Current system software and bundled applications. Does this mean that the update 2.2 will still be on the phone, or does it goes back to 2.1?

Jun 10, 2010I took a short video with my Incredible. I can see it fine on the phone, but I want to transfer it to my computer at home. I have mounted the phone and SD card on my computer (macbook, if that matters), and can explore the various files, but the video does not show up in any of the "video" folders. On the phone, when I open the video folder, I see my video plus a video podcast, but when the drives are open on the desktop, I can only find the podcast video.

IMO slideIT is so much better..
I find it find my words better,,,deals with double letter better..i like how you can go back and it resuggests the word..i like how it puts a word on the line you are typing.. you dont have to look up to see if it guessed the right word..it puts a space before the word not after.. helpful when you forget to put a suffix like -s -ed -ing. they just did a update and its looks better then it did before..

Jul 31, 2010While using the predictive text in the DINC I sometimes want to type something that isn't a word like an acronym or some abbreviation. Predictive text will suggest a word close to what I am typing but I don't want that. It offers exactly what I am typing as an option but then it adds that text to the dictionary. Sometimes that's great but most of the time I want to simple use the term once and not add it to to dictionary. If I type space it will change my text. If I select the offered override it adds the text to my dictionary. How do I just keep what I am typing?

The full length songs are still they because they are on my sd card, but the trimmed version is gone and I have to recut it. Apr 19, 2010It has be reported that Apps cannot be saved in the 8gb internal memory but in the 512mb rom. Is that a problem for anybody? Reviews from Infosyncvideos and the androidcommunity stated the problem. I dunno how big apps are but it shouldn't be a big problem.

Sep 22, 2010If I have to keep on posting anew just to get basic answers (such as where Android Linux stores anything), then so be it I will! I like to cherry-pick my icons when an installed theme leaves me with the same one for different functions, or I just think the stock ones look better. This is possible with my home screen app (Dxtop), but I need to know where to find them in the Android system. I actually prefer the stock icons over any available icon paks on the Market, as the 2.1+ set is much more concise and complete than what I see available there (you have the choice of separate icons for camera & camcorder, or messaging next to your voicemail, which are only available from the stock set). The problem is that DxTop can find only the installed icon paks, go to the Market to find more, or call up Astro so that I can search for icons in my system - it has no clue where my stock icons are. Cannot imagine why Android makes it so difficult to use it's default icons, but I want to use them as needed. Can they even be viewed where they are stored on an un-rooted phone? If not, where would they be seen if my phone was rooted?
