View 2 Replies View Relatedi put loads music on my sd card, the phone found them no problem. i set 3 folders for alarm,notification and ringtone, but when i go through the phone sound setting to change them, it doesnt come up on the list , just the preset/preloaded tones. what am i doing wrong? do the folders need to be put in a certain place, or what.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I mount my SD Card to add some pictures to it, upon ejecting the EVO rescans it (and it takes forever). Once that happens I lose all my personalized ringtone settings in contacts. Any fix?
It happens when I mount the card on a PC or Mac, and I'm ejecting before pulling the cable on both.
I just got my Captivate this past weekend and love it so far. I came over from the HTC Aria so I am a little Android savvy. Question is this. I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. Thirdly, I want to access the external SD card when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, but for the life of me, these 3 issues I cant seem to resolve and they were cake on the HTC.

Specifically, I want to be able to open /system/media/audio/ringtones so I can put new ringtones in there. Is there a good way to do this? I tried copy/pasting with astro file maager, but it won't let me paste into that directory, I assume because I don't have permission.

When pressing one of these buttons it will be disabled and will perform a heavy task in the background (in a different thread to avoid screen blocking). After the action is completed the button will be enabled again and the row updated with some results obtained from that "heavy operation". Im filling my List with a custom SimpleCursorAdapter, its getView method calls super.getView and in the view (row) returned I access its button through findViewById and set my click listener (to disable it, and launch the heavy task in the background). Once this heavy task is finished I need a reference to this row view to find the button and re- enable it. SimpleCursorAdapterīs super.getView() reuses row views shown on screen to avoid creating many different rows instances, so when my "heavy task" is finished the row view reference i need to reenable its button may have been reused in a different row, so in the end I am modifying a button in a different row! I have tried different solutions, for example giving different ID to each row view (useless because it gets overwritten when the row view is reused) Obviously creating a different row instance for each row whether its shown on screen or not isnt the best solution.

When you are running the 3G mobile hotspot you have the ability to manage users, like an ACL (access control list). This option is grayed out and isn't configurable. There is a update file leaked before Froyo for the DINC which made 3G mobile hotspot available. It also gave permission to 'allow users only'. Does anyone know how to change the current behavior and make the option available?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe reason I KNOW its not me changing these ringtones in all of the assignable designations for media files to be played for the ringtones and such is that I have not a single of my music files within any of these settings as an option to assign in the first place. They are showing up randomly. This morning I awoke to Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin, and earlier today a friend called my whose ringtone was changed to 99 Red Balloons.
Let me reitterate; I have never assingned a music track as a ringtone, alarm, or notification. The previous ringtone still exists in my library and is functional IE; i can reassign the same ringtone to a person again. I THINK that only ringtones which are NOT DEFAULT are changing. What is going on here? I have lookout AVP app loaded and running at all times.List on my runnng apps on EVO:

I do have an abundance of navigation (gps, turn by turn, ect), some news, a widget for quick settings (wifi, bluetooth, ringer on/off, gps), Music (shazam, pandora tunee music, The house FM christian radio) Astro file manager, Emulators, facebook integration.I have noticed some coming on by themselves. Ill try to note when I have done nothing to activate them.
I am enjoying my new phone but having trouble finding apps with up to date mp3 music/ringtones on and could someone explain how i save mp3 tracks/ringtones to my memory card.

For example, is it better to put music on my phone with the music app, clip and cut my ringtone in that app and store my tones that way.
Or is it better to clip up a song on my computer using something like Audacity and then send it to my phone via Bluetooth or USB Tethered? And if I did do it that way, where would I store it on the phone, folder, some in depth storage preference? On the first phone there are some stock ringtones I like that are not on the other phone (both regular ringtones and notification ringtones). I want to copy the ones I like from the first phone and put them on the second phone. I tried looking through the folders on the first phone and can't find any ringtones. Neither of the phones are rooted.
