HTC EVO 4G : Losing Custom Ringtones On SD Card Access

Jun 14, 2010

If I mount my SD Card to add some pictures to it, upon ejecting the EVO rescans it (and it takes forever). Once that happens I lose all my personalized ringtone settings in contacts. Any fix?

It happens when I mount the card on a PC or Mac, and I'm ejecting before pulling the cable on both.

HTC EVO 4G : Losing custom ringtones on SD Card access

HTC Desire :: Losing Access To SD Card

May 17, 2010

Sometimes when I turn on the screen there's a notice saying that backing up to SD had failed, so I try to look at the contents of the card and I can't see any of my files. Sometimes I notice it when I try to take a picture and it'll say that it doesn't have the required access. Other times, I've just wanted to access something on the card and noticed it had happened. Now, this sounds like it happens all the time, but it's only a couple of times a week, but quite annoying nonetheless.

The only solution I have found is to turn off the phone, and then turn it back on again. I have tried with the programs SDRemount and SDRescan, but neither have any effect. Is it an issue with the SD card that would go away if I got a new one? I have searched for this topic several times in here, without finding it, but I think something goes wrong in the search process (even if I just search for SD, nothing is found, and I'm quite sure SD has been mentioned a couple of times in here.

Samsung Captivate :: External SD Card Access & Ringtones

Jul 27, 2010

I just got my Captivate this past weekend and love it so far. I came over from the HTC Aria so I am a little Android savvy. Question is this. I put a 2GB SD card in my Captivate and want to set one of the songs on it as a ringtone. I would also like for the external SD to be the default location for pictures when I take them. Thirdly, I want to access the external SD card when I connect my phone to the PC via the USB cable, but for the life of me, these 3 issues I cant seem to resolve and they were cake on the HTC.

HTC Droid Eris :: Organizing Custom Ringtones On SD Card

I have a bunch of custom ringtones in mp3 format on my sd card. When I attach a file and pic to send as mms in handscent they are all alphabetical but in 2 sections. i'll scroll down through a-z, then after that it starts a-z again with other rigntones. They are all stored in same folder. Why is there 2 sections of ringtones instead of just all in one a-z list?

HTC EVO 4G : Custom Ringtones Drain Battery / Default Resided On SD Card

Jun 15, 2010

I discovered something interesting today. I installed some custom ringtones to my SD card last night by creating a ringtones folder on the SD card and copying the ringtones into that folder.

I then selected one of the custom ringtones as my default ringer.

Today my battery was drained over 60% by 11am. (unplugged at 6:30am)

Before adding the custom ringtones, I was easily making it to the evening hours without any battery problems.

I checked the battery status and was alarmed to see that my up time and awake time were nearly 1 for 1!

I rebooted the phone thinking there was a run away app. After being up for an hour, same problem, a 1 to 1 ratio.

The battery use indicated Cell Standy as number 1 with Android System as number 2.

I knew something was wrong as usually Phone Idle is number 2 in my list.

So, I deleted the Ringtones folder I created on the SD card and rebooted.

I checked the phone over the last couple hours and awake time an up times are back to normal, as is my battery use indicator.

Long story short, it appears that the system may have been staying awake to keep the SD card powered since my default ringtone resided on the SD card?

HTC Incredible :: Contacts Losing Assigned Ringtones

May 5, 2010

I have looked around for a fix but haven't found any yet. When I create trimmed ringtones via the htc trimmer and assign them to a contact, they will work fine until I reboot the phone. I tried some fixes like moving the ringtones to the SD card and that has allowed the phone to find them upon reboot but it will not put the tones back with the contacts. Is there a way to permanently stick the ringtone to the contact so they don't un-link after a reboot?

General :: Flashed Custom Rom To Device But Can't Access Internal SD Card

Jan 23, 2014

Recently I have flashed a custom stock rom of my nextbook 8 se. I'm enjoying it, but I have ran into some issues. When I flashed it I can't download very many things, because it tells me to use an external sd card(which only has 2gb of space). I want to access the internal sd card i already have, but I don't know how.

P.S. I don't have any backup, because I flashed a stock rom due to my tablet being bricked.

Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

Android :: Prevent Custom Views From Losing State Across Screen Orientation Changes

Aug 22, 2010

I've successfully implemented onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() for my main activity to save and restore certain critical components across screen orientation changes.

But it seems, my custom views are being re-created from scratch when the orientation changes. This makes sense, although in my case it's inconvenient because the custom view in question is an X/Y plot and the plotted points are stored in the custom view.

Is there a crafty way to implement something similar to onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() for a custom view, or do I need to just implement methods in the custom view which allow me to get and set its "state"?

HTC Desire :: Corrupt SD Card - Losing Date?

Aug 5, 2010

A few days ago my Desire flashed up a warning that in future I should unmount my SD card correctly to avoid losing date. I hadn't touched it or even connected the phone to the PC.

Two days later and I wake up to find my phone has gone flat overnight and turned off, when I turned it back on it warned me that my SD card is blank and displays a permanent SD card symbol with question mark at the top of the screen.

Apart from my photos/music/video clips etc, what else should be on the card? I've noticed voice navigation doesn't work any more, the turn-by-turn just chimes at me to tell me a junction is coming up, also I've lost all my bookmark screenshots. I'm guessing there is a load of software on there such as HTC Sync?

I was hoping to use one of the free data recovery programs to see if I can recover my stuff...but tried a Sandisk demo one and it said it couldn't find any files to recover.

Only other possibility is I have 'wavesecure' installed, but once I realised you had to pay for it I left it alone. Only the backup facility is available on the demo mode, will it have done this automatically meaning I could pay for the app and be able to restore the data, or do you have to instigate the backup manually?

Samsung Galaxy S :: Kies Connection And Losing SD Card

Aug 26, 2010

Kies is complete crap. In fact, I wish I'd stuck with my iphone now because the Galaxy is not great. Heres the latest. If I set USB connection to Ask then when I connect to PC, it asks me. I select Samsung Kies. For some reason I then get a message in the status bar saying USB disabled. Run Kies connects OK. But heres the best bit, on my phone if I go into SD card and phone storage it says both internal and external SD card are not available. Disconnect no difference. Only way to get them back is to reboot the phone. Good news is that at least it works in mass storage mode.

LG Ally :: Custom Ringtones - VZW

Sep 24, 2010

My "New Every 2" comes up on 10/6 and I'll be ordering an LG Ally for myself and my wife. if Verizon has blocked the ability to create custom ringtones and not force you to use their app? With my old RAZR I had to "hack" the registry to get it to work. With my current LG enV2 I had to use a free 3rd-party app (the name escapes me at the moment) in order to add files to the Ringtones folder. I seriosuly doubt that app supports Android phones.

Nexus :: Custom Notification Ringtones

Mar 26, 2010

I recently set a custom notification ringtone to alert me when I receive a new text message. The ringtone sits in my SD card under the folder "Notifications". Sometimes, I will get a text and my phone will vibrate and pulse light, but the notification ringtone will not be heard. When this happens, I go to Menu>Settings>Sound & display>Notification ringtone and then reselect my ringtone. What will happen on most occasions is as soon as I tap the ringtone I want to set, it will not sample the sound file and the menu will freeze and force close. What happens after this usually involves some cursing and a reboot. Why is my phone forgetting my notification ringtone selection? Why does it force close like that and how can I prevent this? If it makes any difference in your diagnosis, I am rooted.
