The alerts and ringtones don't show up on the list when I go to messaging and gmail and then to pick what I want. How do I make them as an option?
I tell you, I love this phone but I hate it. Compared to a Windows Mobile device where everything is as simple as dragging and dropping into folders, this phone gives me such headaches with its overly simplistic (and limited) processes. threads on making your own mp3 ringtone, I've got a kick-ass sampling from The Church's "Under the Milky Way" (you know the part. The synth bagpipe bridge). BUT I can only save it to the storage card. Which isn't a problem except until I get some spare cash, I can't quite swing a 16gb yet. Lots of little 512mb (don't laugh!) cards that I swap frequently (and I'd like a little sit-down with the person who designed the card slot cover to only be opened by gerbil paws). Is there a way to save my custom ringtone directly to the phone? Or will I have to stick it on every card until that glorious payday when I can get a 16gb?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Desire is changing the ringtones I've set to seemingly random mp3's stored on the phone. I reset all my ringtones last night (for Calls, twitter notification noise, sms alert noise and reminder noise). But this morning they are all set to different mp3's. Ruling out that someone stuck into my room overnight and manually changed them all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.
I updated to the newest leak version last night successfully, and it's the first time I've rooted. It's kind of annoying how I lost all my ringtones and alerts for texts and stuff. The only option is 'Default Verizon' which annoys the hell out of me. I'd rather not have to download an app to get a simple ringtone for texts and google talk and phone calls. Any way to just get the regular list back that came with the phone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I get my custom ringtones from rooted media folder to show up in selection menus?
I am rooted and have successfully copied .ogg .wav or .mp3 ringtones to system/media/audio/ringtones, notifications or alarms folders. I can even play them from those folders on press.
My hassle is I am not able to select these as my tones. They don't show up in the menus. I want them in the root because if I am connected to my pc and an email/text/call comes in that is assigned a Custom tone on sd, then my tones revert back to a default tone and I have to reset them all when i disconnect from pc
I have set up the folders necessary on my SD card so that I can access the notification alert sounds that I would like to use. The problem I am having now is that I want to set one alert sound for contact a, a different alert sound for contact b, etc... I was able to set my ringtones this way but can't figure out how to set the notification alerts.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI want to have a different alert tone or ringtone for different types of notifications: a different one for texts, for emails, and for voicemails. I have been able to do this with just about every other type of phone I've had in the past; I can't understand why these more expensive, more technologically advanced phones dump them all into one category ("Set as notification tone"). Am I missing something here? Is there an app I need or a setting on the phone I'm not seeing?
Just to be clear, I care less about whether I can use customized ringtones for these alerts than just being able to distinguish between when I'm getting a text or an email. And if it helps to know, I have a Samsung Moment and my husband has a HTC Hero, and we are both having this problem.
I downloaded some ringtones the other night using an app on my Evo. Only set up a few of them at the time to specific contacts. Went back in today and cannot find where they went to. Can anyone tell me where to look? New phone for me, (used to be a confirmed crackberry user and ready to go back, lol) still in the learning curve!
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I had a few ring tones that were set exactly how I wanted them for timing etc for my iphone. Well I have Mabilo ring tones installed and it works well. (After finding out about the .no media thing so they don't show up in my music player.) So what I did was convert my M4R to MP3. Then I went into Mabilo and downloaded the ring tones they had for the songs that I wanted. I then copied the file name and overwrote the name for my version of the mp3 and then copied it into the mabilo folder. And voila, my ring tones are there. No need to edit and crop all over again etc on the phone. Hope this is useful for someone out there. And with my luck someone will say oh just use "X" app and it is much better. But being the android nub I am and wanting to contribute to this forum this is my first shot.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am having some trouble with my g1. At first, I was able to set ringtones for when people call me but I tried to do something on my memory card so that I could get ringtones as my text message alert so I put everything under "notifications" "alarms". Then I realized there was no ringtones anymore. Okay so now the only way I can set a ringtone is through the music player thing. I've reformatted my whole memory card thinking that would help but it didnt.
