General :: Edit Lockscreen Items / Layout - JB 4.1.1
Mar 24, 2013I am using Micromax A110. It has JB which is almost vanilla JB - as comes from google (with some bloatwares added, thats it).
I was quiet used to lockscreen layout where swipe left unlocks the screen and swipe up launches google now. My device manufacturer rolled out an update and now it has swipe up to unlock and no google now shortcut.
I believe this is driven by some XML in layout..I am not expert but have decompiled the framework-res.apk but coudnt locate the place where I should change to get my favourite lockscreen layout back...
HTC Hero :: Unwated App Starts
Oct 18, 2009Strange behavior on my Sprint Hero - apps I haven't asked to start, suddenly appear in my Tasklist, after sitting on a charger for extended periods of time... Example: Today, while the phone was sitting on my desk and I had just force-closed a few apps, the Navigation, Calendar and Clock apps all started to run. The phone screen was off, sitting on a table and I had just confirmed that NONE of those apps were running before I turned off the phone.
Is this a bug in the Hero overall, just the SpLint implementation or something with just my phone?

Sep 16, 2009After upgrading my Hero there has occurred a problem.When attempting to move or remove shortcuts the application starts.I press and hold the short cut i wish to move or remove on my home screen waiting for the little vibration and for the trash can to appear.But the short cut instead runs the application.Sometimes it works, sometimes not.This is a bit annoying.Anyone else have the same problem, or better yet have a solution?

Mar 15, 2010Basically when connecting my phone to my car's aux in socket, the music player starts up & plays over whatever else is happening. As an example, if I want to listen to a podcast on Beyondpod, the moment it starts playing, the music player kicks in & plays whatever track was last being played. I use Taskiller to close it down but it's starts up again after a few mins or even seconds. It also occasionally dials the last number I called, just to really wind me up. It also occasionally does this when watching a video with headphones in.

Oct 28, 2009I have taskiller and it seems that I have to always close programs and they wont stay off. Is there a better program out there that I can get to pick and choose what starts up when I turn the phone on?
My main issue with this is my camera. I have to turn off almost all of my programs in order to use my camera smoothly other wise its all choppy and sucks!

Jul 21, 2010Had no problem getting my phone to play nice with our exchange server at work and emails are coming/going fine.
However, there are some configuration items I have a big issue with as it relates to the 'look' of the email (coming from a BlackBerry).
1. Is there any way to have a single folder show my received items and sent items combined? My BB had this and it was very useful.
2. How can I edit the way my folders are displayed at the top horizontal bar? The sidescrolling folder display is awkward, it puts my inbox first (good) but then all subsequent folders are listed alphabetically; it pays no attention to their order on my desktop and also shows sub-folders of other files. Any way to change this?
3. Is there a way to change the way emails show as unread? The difference b/n read and unread is only a shade of grey, and difficult to see outside.
HTC Hero :: Restoring Bought Items From Market
Feb 4, 2010Right so heres the story, my phone has been severely acting up, freezing, unable to delete items etc. so i thought upgrading to the newest Orange ROM.After all that has been done i needed to Download My Back Up Pro to restore and also Filecover, these are both apps ive downloaded and paid for before, so ive tried looking for them in the market to redownload (as it shouldnt charge me twice over) but they arent turning up in the Market.has anybody got any advice as to being able to redownload them.

Sep 27, 2010For some reason, the navigation app will just start it self up. I thought maybe I was accidentally touching the shortcut on my home screen so I removed it, but it still happens. I "went along with it" as it asked me to show my gps settings since I have gps disabled. So I enabled it to see if it would bring me to a map, but it just brings me to the default navigation screen. Running 2.2, stock rom, but super user access.

Jun 22, 2010Been having some weird MMS related problems in the last couple of days. To try to resolve them i've been trying to edit the APN settings, however, i've got 4(!) APN setttings on my phone which are locked, can't be edited or deleted. I'm sure i could edit them at some point in the past, but now all of them have little padlock icons next to them.
Phone was purchased unlocked but pre-configured for vodafone uk. Am i missing something obvious or has my brain gone wrong?

Sep 15, 2010I just signed up on this forum the other day on a whim and a thread thats still floating hereabouts. I thought I'd never have any questions because lurking solves most of that. I've long since learned that forum participation, while entertaining, is very time consuming if not relegated strictly to office downtime. Alas I have a problem, and I beseech this wise forum for wisdom.
Righto, so I love my Eris and have had barely any problems. Sure it lags a bit but I'm not rooted so its my own fault. I've had a problem the last two days with the SD card. Basically my phone suddenly starts saying the SD card is missing. Which is total BS since its still in there like a good little card. So like any reasonably technical person would do I popped it in and out. Lo and behold it works again. I think nothing of it and go about my business until it happens again later that day. Wtf right. So i pop that sucker out again, and reinsertion cured the problem.
At this point I'm slightly annoyed but just happy that my Eris works reasonably well. Seriously I had just finished telling someone, I could see myself keeping this phone even if I could upgrade. But the problem recurred even worse.
This morning all was well and my Eris woke me up to a bright sunny day. Except after a bit of browsing online suddenly my SD card flips out again. But heres the catch, reinserting didn't help. Reinserting it twice didn't help. So again like any reasonable person I powered it on and off. Didn't help. I then powered it off, took out the card. Waited, then put it back in then powered up. Didn't help. Folks this took a lot of patience because I have some classes to go to today, and not a lot of time to mess around. I then powered down, powered up, and then reinserted again once everything settled down.
Didn't help... In fact the problem got worse. Now its telling me the "SD card is empty." "Well this is frelling great", I thought to myself. I desperately reinserted to an even worse message. "The SD card is damaged and needs to be formatted." At this point I'm rapidly losing faith in this Eris that has kept me all the way since December. Reinserted once again... and didn't help.
I wasn't about to give up, after maybe a few more times it finally reads and I hastily backed up the card to my desktop. I'm relieved but unnerved. My first inclination is to whine to Verizon. Afterall they did swap this phone out 3 times already in the past, I had this weird restarting problem which they couldn't figure out. I had to run countless tests on my own which were never conclusive, but seemed to be related to app installations. It eventually went away so I stopped complaining Late May and got this 4th phone. Meaning I had my original, swapped out once, swapped out twice, swapped out thrice.
So this could be the opportunity for a new phone. Do I want a nice new model, yes. Am I willing to keep my Eris, also yes. As you all know its very aesthetically pleasing and conveniently portable. I'm trying to figure out what I should do next.

Jun 7, 2010I updated my Nextheme 2.1 droid to the new Froyo (gonna check out Fabs newest in a few minutes here) but one thing I have noticed is that for some reason whenever my droid is connected to a computer it auto starts USB Mass storage. I cannot for the life of me find out where I go to stop this from auto connecting, sometimes I just plug my droid into the computer to charge while I am working. Normally when I want the USB storage enabled I use SD share widget.
