Only had my hero a few days but for some reason the incoming message tone has disappeared. I have a tone selected and the incoming call ringtone is working. The message one just seems to be silent.Have been playing around with the settings and have tried the obvious ones like 'Silent Mode' etc but all settings seem ok.

Besides an app, is there a way to change the sounds for incoming messages? i mean to something i made. Or a way to silence it at all? i thought i was in the right menu for changing it, but i didn't see anything about silencing it.I downloaded ringolite.. and it said to silence the normal one first, and i couldn't find where to silence it. just to change it to another stock sound.

Also, every time I receive and incoming text my phone also vibrates. I've looked under notifications and can't find any way to change this. I'm about to pay the restocking fee and get a new phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI love my Hero! There is however, one setting on my Blackberry that I did like that I haven't been able to duplicate on my Hero. There was a setting on the Blackberry while sleeping, the phone would be the only thing to ring or make nose. Email notifications, etc., would be silent. Is there any quick setting or app to do this on Hero?
View 3 Replies View Relatedanyone know how to turn it off? after the update to 2.1, this feature seems to be gone. seems the only way to turn off vibration when receiving an incoming text message is to put the phone on silent. but then you miss incoming calls. also, my htc weather widget doesn't work either. keeps saying "no weather data available", no matter if I have the mobile network on or Wi-fi. anyone else having this issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero a couple of days ago and I can't help but getting a bit annoyed by the fact that whenever I receive a message my phone gives off the double vibrate buzz, followed by most often just a second of silence before the message sound 'pling' goes off. The pause between the vibration buzz seems a bit random and I have experienced it pausing for up to like 10 seconds before a sound plays. I cannot see that this is supposed to happen.What's wrong?My phone has build version 2.73.405.6 (which confuses me a bit since HTC webpages says that the newest build version is 2.73.405.5).
View 7 Replies View RelatedWas just wondering if anyone knew how to turn of the sound and vibration when instant message calls come in?, can't find an option for this anywhere and they are too regular to leave it running whilst at work unless i can switch them off. Also a tip, although it tells you you cannot use over wifi I find it works fine if you disconect the wifi whilst signing in and then reconnect the wifi.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, I've searched for an answer but am not getting any where.. Here is my dilemma. When someone sends an email to my yahoo account, the phone vibrates and the led flashes. Perfect. But when someone sends an email to my Gmail account, I get the Notification sound, the vibration and the led flash. Not good, especially at 1 am when I am sleeping. I can not figure out why gmail is activating the notification sound and yahoo mail is not. (Probably something simple, and I am missing it...) I would greatly appreciate if someone can explain to me how to kill just the gmail notification sounds, without effecting any other notifications. Also, I have noticed that when I get a new message notification, I can open the widget on the main screen to read the email, and it shows read, but the task bar notification is still there, and when I drag it down, it shows the message is still unread. Any ideas.

The only notification there's an incoming call is the trackball lighting up. Obviously this could lead to missed calls. Is there a setting i'm missing so that I can actually get an audio notification of incoming calls when on the dock?

When Android phone receives an incoming call from a specific number the phone's ringing should stop and also the screen should not blink. What I mean is the user should not be able to know that there was incoming call, but actually there was.
I do not want to delete any call logs, just to stop sound on incoming call from a specific number and that too at a specific time.

I want to pass the complete incoming message, (message format included in the code below as this website is parsing the message for me which is my job in the code as well to a function which removes the tags and extracts message name and value and uses it for further action. The readMessage string (in the switch case Message_Read) sends selected characters and omits few special characters. The main thing that is currently annoying me with it is that when I am on a call, it still vibrates when I receive a text message. I like that it vibrates when I receive texts just not while I'm on the phone. How do I change this 'Phone Only' preference? 1.5 always just had a little beep or sound for the notifier never vibrated?

I tried Handcent and I'm now using ChompSMS. With Chomp you get this tiny little ticker at the top of the screen, that is all. Is it possible to have that feature with this phone?
