I like to make my own wallpapers for my phones. Being new to android and hero. Im wondering what the proper size is. My initial thought is the screen resolution. Just wondering if i need to make them bigger for the hero to scale them?

Can't get wallpaper to size correctly since running the Android 2.1 update on the Sprint Hero.
The HTC wallpaper shows correctly but the resolution of wallpaper set from my photos seems to be about 800x600. The onscreen size remains the same regardless of the original photos size, I've tried everything from 340x480 down to thumbnail and it stays the same.
Also when I try to load a photo as wallpaper I get a horizontal crop box even though the screen is obviously vertical.
Would like to put some photos that Ive taking with my camera, onto my phone, can somebody tell what size they should be to use as wallpaper.
i have done a search, but with no luck
also is there any apps, that will let me set them as a slide show
when i try to select a wallpaper i have to select a portion of the wallpaper even if its a 320X480 size pic.

However if I try to change the lock screen wallpaper, it doesn't give me the choice of "wallpaper gallery":menu -> wallpaper -> lock screen..just takes me directly to my photo albums.How can I choose lock screen wallpaper from the existing wallpaper gallery?

View 29 Replies View RelatedI read that 960x854 should be the right resolution. I did with Gimp an image with that size, copied it to the sd card and set it as wallpaper. What a wonderful surprise when the android tried to crop it. So, I guess, 960x854 is not the right resolution. any insight?

Can someoen clarify for me ha and also when I'm searching for wallpapers do I want pixel resolution or screen size for best look.
I've had 4-5 apps so far do this to me, and every once in a while another app does the same - instead of displaying its proper name, like ChompSMS or wpToGo, the name would switch to the Java version, such as com.p1.chompsms or com.roundhill.androidWP.wpAndroid.
The name change occurs globally - in the app list, widget names, even the displayed name when I start the app. The only place where the names stay OK is the Market.
These changes don't happen after an update - just randomly but once they happen, they stay.
Some other apps include VoiceCallerID and Mystique Chapter 1.
WTF is going on with my phone?
I downloaded pictures off the internet and tried to set them as my background, and it says "This picture has been set as wallpaper" But its just the default wallpaper. So then I tried the Bar code scanner wallpapers and Android themes.com and same thing!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my sd card from the stock 2 Gb to an 8 Gb. Looking at the size from the pc the size reported is correct, just under 8 Gb formatted FAT32. When I look at the a Total Space in the phone it reports just over 7.5 Mb. Anybody know what I did wrong.I did copy the contents of the old card to the pc first, there were no partitions and then copied the data to the new card but the size is being reported incorrectly.

Orange send me a new Hero, exactly the same model, etc. I root the phone, set up some of my apps and notice that THIS Hero is sporting the blue wallpaper (the one with the ocean and blue sky).
