HTC Hero :: Sd Card Size
May 6, 2010
I just upgraded my sd card from the stock 2 Gb to an 8 Gb. Looking at the size from the pc the size reported is correct, just under 8 Gb formatted FAT32. When I look at the a Total Space in the phone it reports just over 7.5 Mb. Anybody know what I did wrong.I did copy the contents of the old card to the pc first, there were no partitions and then copied the data to the new card but the size is being reported incorrectly.

I've looked at retail sites, the HTC site, and Wikipedia, but nowhere is telling me this. When you buy the Desire, what size memory card does it come with?

So I just got me a G1 earlier this week but my question is this. Even though their website says the max size card you can put in is 8GB I have seen somewhere you can put one in a little bigger, so there for I am wondering what is the biggest memory card that can be put in this thing? I currently use a 2GB one that I had in my former nokia 5310.

In order to recover my Android TV box I've tried to copy a recovery image on to my 16GB SD card using a tool called HDD RAW Copy.
Having not been able to recover my TV box, I also haven't been able to reformat my SD card back to its original size. Windows 7 only reads 3.68GB while its actual size should be ~16GB. I have tried to wipe all of its data and see if there were any hidden partitions. I have used EASEUS Partition Manager for that, but that tool couldn't find any. Formatting the SD card to NTFS didn't make a difference in size either.

It seems like whenever I try to send pictures to others via MMS, it won't let me because the pictures are too large. I know I can have my Hero take pictures it smaller resolutions, but I wouldn't want low-res pictures unless I would want to send them via MMS.
The thing is, a lot of times I dont know ahead of time that a picture I am about to take with the Hero will be used to send in an MMS. So its hard to make the decision to take in a low res beforehand. I could just switch the Hero to take all pics in low res, but then what about all the pics I don't need to send via MMS? They will all be low resolution.

what the maximum file size is I can attach to an outgoing email using Gmail? I know Gmail allows 20 megabytes, but is there a size limit I can attach from the Hero? I have had the phone tell me a file is too big to attach, but it was well under 20 megs.

Can't get wallpaper to size correctly since running the Android 2.1 update on the Sprint Hero.
The HTC wallpaper shows correctly but the resolution of wallpaper set from my photos seems to be about 800x600. The onscreen size remains the same regardless of the original photos size, I've tried everything from 340x480 down to thumbnail and it stays the same.
Also when I try to load a photo as wallpaper I get a horizontal crop box even though the screen is obviously vertical.

Just got the HTC Hero from Sprint and so far am loving almost everything about it. One question that I hope someone can help me with:Is there a way to change the size of icon's text or label (or perhaps the text itself)? For example, I have a screen with several Google apps on it, but they look like this: "Google M..." (for Google Maps); "Google S..." (for Google Sky), etc. It would be great if I could just change this to "Maps" or "Sky."

So I'm loading images from a web service, but the size of the images are sometimes smaller or bigger than other images and the visualization looks silly when I put them in a ListView in android. I'd like to fix the size of my ImageView so that it only shows a portion of the image if it's larger than a preset amount. I've tried everything I can think of setting the setMaxWidth/setMaxHeight, setting the scale type to centerCrop, using ClipableDrawable wrapping my BitmapDrawable, setting using Drawable.setBounds(). I've tried setting in the XML and programmatically, but neither worked. I'm very surprised setting max width/height didn't do anything. Below is the XML I'm using ImageView definition in my layout file

All the specs posted on the blogs say the galaxy phones are "expandable to 32GB". Does this mean you can add 16GB card to get a total of 32GB, or that you can add 32GB for a total of 48GB? The way it's been worded on all the sites I get the impression that the max SD card you can put in is 16GB but that seems silly. Can anyone confirm? I'm looking at the US versions, most likely the AT&T Captivate.

Is it possible to easily get the size of a folder on the SD card? I use a folder for caching of images, and would like to present the total size of all cached images. Is there a way to this other than iterating over each file? They all reside inside the same folder?

I am currently developing a dictionary application with voice database. I would like to know about the current Android limitation on the file size. I am using a self-provided sqlite database ( > 50mb ) . I tested that once the built .apk size exceeds ~30mb the app will not be installed onto the simulator (INSTALL_FAILED_ INSUFFICIENT _STORAGE). Could anyone confirm me that if up until now there is no way to embed such large size files in a single apk ( Aimed to sell at Google Market without requiring user to download datafile afterwards). Also, is there a limitation of 1,048,576 bytes for a single file in the assets folder ?
