I am keen to upgrade to Android 2.1 but have no 'Check Now' button in the 'About Phone' menu. I am running Firmware 1.5 and Software v.1.0.0.A6288. How to I upgrade on my T-Mobile branded device? Is the best way to download the T-Mobile software direct from the HTC website?

Menu - Settings - Location - Enable GPS satellites
It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"
When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"
So, the question is, should this be enabled?
I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.
I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.
So, to check or not to check?
I have a set of buttons. Usually i can also move between em also with my trackball. But now I have set styles on my buttons and I don't see anymore if a button is focused. What can I do, is there a specific Styles Tag that I can use till now i use: code...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know there isn't a firmware update but for the past 2 days when I go in and check for Firmware updates it says "checking for Firmware update" then it just dissapears, it no longer comes back with "No update available". Anyone else having this problem? I powercycled and pulled the battery and it still does this. It also fails updating my profile and fails updating the PRL. All other data features work just fine.

Anyway he was on this website to check his internet speed on his pre and so I wanted to check mine. I was averaging ~500kbps and I hit 1000kbps once. But my friend, he was averaging 8.5MBps, yes MBps. Obviously same network, at the same time. What up wit dat?
We also tried to go to websites we had never been to at the same time and he was beating me pretty handly. Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys were getting? Site is mobilespeedtest.com, then it run test and post results! Whoa, just did it right now and I got 1311kbps.
I am unable to check the notifications screen. I see the icons for new notifications but unable to get to the screen. when I touch the top of the screen and move it down, nothing happens. It was working fine yesterday. Not sure how to fix it and that blinking light is so irritating..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this really crappy eye disorder I inherited genetically. It means my ability to see low light when other light is on is really poor. It's called Retinues Pigmentation. When the screen of my HTC Hero is on, I can't see the physical buttons at the bottom at all, they just come across too dark to me in contrast to the light screen. What would be really be ideal is for the buttons to stay on as long as the screen is on. Basically, if the screen is lit, so are the buttons. I know this would deplete energy, but it would be totally worth it for me. Do you think there is any way I could implement this, and is there someone I could mention it to for the future?

I do have a problem, hopefully a simple one, that I'm not sure what to do about. When I try to send an MMS, when it comes time to hit the menu button and then attach, there is no attach button to hit. I get all messages, quick text, compose, send, delete and insert smiley.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a Hero the other day, and so for I love it. The only thing I am having a problem with is the button pad. It is creaky, like if I press the menu button, and then press a button the the opposite side, say the back button, it creaks a tiny bit, like plastic on plastic. Sometimes it even clicks a little bit. Anyone elses like this? It doesnt really affect the operation as much as its an annoyance.
