I am unable to check the notifications screen. I see the icons for new notifications but unable to get to the screen. when I touch the top of the screen and move it down, nothing happens. It was working fine yesterday. Not sure how to fix it and that blinking light is so irritating..

My notification light comes comes on as it should , but only blinks for maybe two minutes then stops. Is there any way to have it stay on until you check ( like on all my other phones i have had ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am realizing sometimes when I get new gmail, I don't get the notification even though notifications are set to ON and auto-sync ON. I check my gmail app and the new mail is there but it says Inbox(0), NOT Inbox(1) like it should be even though the new message is bolded in font like it should. Then when I delete the message it says Inbox(-1) This might be the reason I don't get a notification sometimes. Has anyone else encountered this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe issue in a nutshell is that my hero fails to respond to input. I have wiped and loaded up a custom rom, and put it back to factory with no luck. Below are the details.I had 2.1 installed from Sprint but started having response issues, so I loaded up Fresh 2.3.3 but I don't think the problems are with the ROM. The main issue was that the phone was just generally unresponsive, aka, unable to unlock the screen, and if it would eventually unlock, you couldn't click on anything on the screen. This was why I wiped and loaded up a custom ROM but it didn't change anything.I was able to get into the adb shell and look at the processes. CPU usage was only about 15 to 20%, so fairly normal (in comparison to my Hero, I'm working on Joes). I also looked at the log and it records the touch screen input instantly, but it never actually responds on the display. It would note a few things that were timing out, but I don't recall what they were, nor did I recognize what they were.
So I was trying to reload the factory firmware on it last night but every time the Hero would reboot the PC could never connect to the bootloader. I tried it on my work PC and it did the same thing. So I tried it on a Win XP box it worked fine. I got it loaded back to the factory firmware this morning (twice actually), and after it boots up, again next to no response from the screen.Anywho, I have no idea what the problem is, but I'm going to take it to Sprint today and see if they can do somethign with it. I bought it off ebay, and after rooting/custom ROMs, I'm not sure if they will touch it. I think I've wiped any sign that it was ever rooted off there, but I'm not sure.I can't get back into the shell because I can't get far enough into the phone to enable USB debugging, in fact I can't even get past the intro on how to type because it won't respond.
Okay, I've spent 2 whole hours making sure that I'm not repeating a thread and I couldn't believe no one has made a thread on their fav widgets yet and how they use them! This is something similar to Khaag27's forum so plz dont hit me with copyright infringements.
To start out, I don't have a screen capture, so I can't just show you the screen shots, which I strongly encourage others to use if they have it..rooted bastards lol..but I'll tell you which widgets I have on which screens. I also know that widgets take up a lot of your battery, but I don't see many people using them on their screens. It's like why not?
On my furthest screen to the left, I just have 3 widgets, which are my personal favorite because they tell me all my interest in life! (well almost) They are Gaming Buzz, US Sports Buzz, and Mobile Buzz by AdMob. Great widgets that I've never seen others use.
Next is just my gaming screen.
Next is the SportsTap widget. Like to stay updated with my Rockets and the Black Mamba
Home screen is the second HTC calendar widget..smaller version..i have the smaller version of HTC's weather app, which I update manually..I have the Ringer toggle widget..which is great for quickly configuring your vib..silent settings..and I have the Bible Daily verse..which is great for starting my day off
Next is Tune Wiki, which I rarely hear about lately, and Pandora. I also have iSearch..which I never see either..I'm starting to think if I'm really the only one using these!!
Next is the toggle settings for wifi..gps..etc..then the contacts widget..the smaller version..
I recently removed the mail widget as I saw that this was hogging up a lot of battery and I don't like nosey people really lol..

A few days ago the GPS notification icon started popping up at the top of my screen at random without me even running an app that requires GPS. I have tried to kill any app that potentially uses GPS with taskiller, disabling GPS all-together, and rebooting my phone to get it to go away. The only temporary solution I have found is to enter and then exit google maps. That works for a little while but then, bam, out of nowhere the little satellite icon appears again. I don't mind if it is just a little glitch and my GPS isn't actually being accessed, but if it is, that is a serious hit to my battery life. I haven't noticed a dramatic change in battery life since it started happening but I do seem to get less time out of the phone. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is it a big deal and how do you fix it?

However, if I reboot or kill the browser via a task manager, then go back to bookmarks, it is set as sort by Newest. Can anyone confirm they are getting this as well?

When I get and answer a call, when the call ends its dropping to the people app, vs Home or where the phone was BEFORE the call.
Just wondering if I am alone in that as I find it kinda annoying.
This is a multi question post kinda =). If I kill Handcent with task killer and put my phone in sleep mode with a single press of the power key I will not get any texts until I wake my phone up and then they all roll in. If I don't kill the task I seem to get texts while the phone is idle and asleep. Also I set the default text app the hancent now when ever I send a text it only opens handcent which is good, but if I receive a text it opens handcent the default app and google voice.
Any ideas on how to sort this out ? I did a forum search but did not find any thing that solved my issues.
Can't send picture messages or receive em' regular texts work fine already tried calling Sprint-

View 49 Replies View RelatedI know there isn't a firmware update but for the past 2 days when I go in and check for Firmware updates it says "checking for Firmware update" then it just dissapears, it no longer comes back with "No update available". Anyone else having this problem? I powercycled and pulled the battery and it still does this. It also fails updating my profile and fails updating the PRL. All other data features work just fine.

Anyway he was on this website to check his internet speed on his pre and so I wanted to check mine. I was averaging ~500kbps and I hit 1000kbps once. But my friend, he was averaging 8.5MBps, yes MBps. Obviously same network, at the same time. What up wit dat?
We also tried to go to websites we had never been to at the same time and he was beating me pretty handly. Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys were getting? Site is mobilespeedtest.com, then it run test and post results! Whoa, just did it right now and I got 1311kbps.
Does anyone else want the stock (white) nofication bar on the Sprint Hero? If any one has it on their please share how to get it. I think because its a HTC phone it is made with the black bar, but is their anyway to extract the APK from any other android phone if such a file exists and just install it on the Hero, I really prefer the white one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been successful showing a notification, starting an activity, or loading the home screen *during* a call on the Droid? All three of these actions can be done with the emulator running 2.0, but will not run from the Droid. I don't receive any type of notification that these actions fail on the Droid. Although, every action works when a call is *not* active. Missed calls during a call *do* show up in the notification bar, so I am hoping there is a way.
I understand that the notification bar can not be accessed by users during calls, but it would be nice if a notification could at least be delivered. I also understand the security and usability concerns of displaying a window or action during phone calls. Although, there are a lot of users who would like actionable functionality based on calls.
Is there any way to get a notification of a missed text/call/etc? Like maybe an occasional flash of the screen?
I often keep my phone on silent so I don't always notice texts. My old phone had the LED light to notify me, and before that I had an iPhone which would flash the display with a notice about the missed text/call.
I'm aware of NoLED, but I tried it and wasn't a fan, the icons are annoying. Plus it seems like it would take up battery.
Alright well I got my Hero on release date(After going through 3 Pre's! ). Well so far I love it. Battery life has been just fine(And thats with the system at 100% lol), and the apps are amazing. But I have a question. I noticed there's two LED lights at the top of the phone. Yet I've only ever seen one light up! Is this how it is for everyone else? Only my left one lights up(green for texts, and amber for charging). And my friend's G1's Scroll Wheel also lights up, and was just wondering why ours doesn't.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a CDMA Sprint HTC Hero running 2.27.651.6 If I have read the FAQ/Stickies/Walkthroughs correctly the first step in rooting my phone is to downgrade it to 2.27.651.5.I downloaded and attempted to run "RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.27.651.5_R_signed_release " however it doesn't complete. The program is "Waiting for Bootloader" for about 80 seconds and then fails with "ERROR [171]: USB CONNECTION ERROR". I am able to hear the Win7 sound effect of my device being disconnected when the program says "Rebooting Device" and I hear another sound effect right after it, like it is trying to reconnect the phone to my PC but the sound is different. I think something may be wrong when the device attempts to reconnect to the PC. At this point my phone is connected to the PC via USB and the phone is now stalled on the black screen with white "HTC" logo. If I unplug the USB cord at this point I get the white screen with skateboarding Androids at the bottom (which I assume is the bootloader). The following text is at the top of the screen.

well I successfully have my phone rooted and was finally going to get around to installing a new ROM on my phone today. However when I tried to make a nandroid backup my phone wouldn't start up into the recovery thing to let me make a backup, instead it would just sit at the white and green HTC page indefinitely until I would pull the battery at. Any ideas on how to fix this?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI recently flashed to the Fresh 2.1.2 rom, and i'm having trouble using the "Wireless Tether". I've uninstalled the one that came with the rom, and i've installed a fresh new copy from the Marketplace. But every time I've tried hitting the "tether" button, it says "Unable to start tethering, please try again!"
My superuser app isn't doing anything, this might be the problem. Whenever I open the superuser app, it's a complete blank screen.
The Sprint CSR that I spoke with last night went through some settings with me but eventually she escalated the call and I was disconnected shortly thereafter due to a terrible connection. I just spoke with another Sprint CSR and once again I was told that there is no way to share the Internet connection with my PC, yet I see that there appear to be many people who are able to do this. The CSR said that some of the legacy customers were grandfathered in... is this the case? I am running OS 2.1 Update 1 according to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Firmware version
I would REALLY like to have this capability when I travel... I don't need it here at home, but on the road, it would really help, especially in the airports.
