View 4 RepliesI wasn't able to find anything on this after a cursory search, but it seems like my music player sometimes kicks in when the screen is off and the phone is stowed in my pocket. I can't seem to recreate the behavior predictably by playing with any buttons, though, so I'm not sure what's triggering it.
I have the new HTC Hero on Sprint.
Any ideas what might be causing this behavior, or how I can stop it? It's pretty embarrassing, and I'm nervous to go into a theatre with the phone at all now, even when it is on silent. Even short of the music player, more often the phone will wake from screen-off with some other page up front (not the main home page, but one of the other views like the home page, the ones you get to by flicking right or left from the home page...
Any spell check programs you guys recommend?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems I have multiple programs that will start on their own and run in the background. The main ones are mp3 store, voicemail, sprint nav, sprint tv and qik. I haven't even ran those programs yet, but they're still starting up.
I went so far as to download ATK and kill them...only to see them running again 5 minutes later. I tried to put all the settings the same as what I had on my hero, but these running in the background are driving me nuts for some reason.
Why out of the box does my fascinate currently with absolutely NO programs running use 290/325 of my RAM? This does not seem right to me!
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am constantly finding programs running on my phone, regardless of what I've used. For instance, "Easy tether", which I never use while in town, would come up as "running". "Where's my droid", which have not used since installing 2 months ago... or "Voice dialer? What makes things run, when they haven't been used?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIt seems like whenever I play around on the phone for a bit and the go to close my apps with TaskPanel the following are always running even though I didn't touch them:
Alarm Clock
Corporate Calendar
Calendar
Settings
Messaging (even though I have not used it at all)
and one other that isn't showing up right now but was something like mobile.? or
Some of these I don't care if they're running (I assume the Calendar is running since I need it to run for my Google calendar widget to work), but why is Alarm Clock and Corporate calendar always running? Is there a way to turn these off?
Is there an app out there that will not just stop a program from starting up but from running at all? I have to continually kill progs like Footprints (or something), Amazon mp3 store, etc. I'd like to streamline the phone and only have programs running that are essential.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using the free Advanced Task Killer app save as much battery life as possible.
After I "kill" all the apps, the same programs tend to run all over again (Alarm Clock, Corporate Calender, Settings, etc). How do I block programs that I don't use but tend to open continually?
I have found that if I am trying to run Eclipse with the G1 connected (vis USB), logcat will only output info from programs running on the phone - not when I run code on the emulator. If I disconnect the phone and then run the emulator version, logcat provides the desired output.
I also have now discovered that if I connect the G1, the SD Card on the emulator shows the contents of the G1 SD Card, whether I am running code on the emulator or the phone. This was a little confusing as I expected the AVD to control the SD Card when I run a virtual version, not the attached 'real' phone.
When my Epic boots off a fresh restart I have approximately 140M of Ram available but over the next day for so it drops to as low as 60M and I will notice sometimes when i kill apps with ATK it kills 22 apps and then it will raise my RAM up to ~120. It seems that when my ram runs lows it shuts off my live wallpaper and reverts to the standard. My question is why do all these programs load and eat up the RAM when i have never used them. IE media hub, amazon mp3 , qik etc etc they all just start on their own running in the background. Is there anyway to get them to stop loading and is killing all of them at once a bad idea?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best way to reboot the device? I have done a shutdown and a battery pull, but when it comes back up, I still see quite a few apps running from a fresh state. Is this normal?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was reading one of these threads, and someone mentioned that there was a way to stop apps from opening on launch.I have apps that randomly open by themselves and i want to prevent them from doing so. View 1 Replies View RelatedMenu - Settings - Location - Enable GPS satellites
It states that enabling this will "require more battery plus view of sky"
When checked, it states "deselect to conserve battery"
So, the question is, should this be enabled?
I imagine for some applications, knowing your precise location should be useful, especially if the turn-by-turn maps are installed and used.
I'm thinking to deselect this, and selecting it at times when I need it.
So, to check or not to check?
how to check that the service with some name is running once? also if i go out from my activity then my service is running & when i come to my activity the onCreate method is called so my service is created again in this case or running service will be attached again?
public class ServiceExampleActivity extends Activity { Intent intent; Button start,stop; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); intent = new Intent(this, ServiceExample.class); // service example is service class Log.i("-----service------", "Service Created"); }
I am using this method to identify if a thread is running at any point of time, irrespective of whether the enclosing activity is running or not. Is this the right way?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am newbie to android. I have client server based application. Server keeps on sending the update notifications to client after every single minute and at client side my app receive those updates and display it using Toast. But now my problem is whenever my client app goes into the background server keeps on sending the update notifications and my client display it as if the application is in foreground. I am not getting how to check that application is running in background.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes (it's not usual, but sometimes it happens) my phone (Nexus one, CM7) runs quite slowly, and not fluent at all, just because of an app that is eating all the memory / processor. If I kill that app, problem solved.
When this happened the first time, I went to the running services section in settings, and I checked that the services listed are not ALL the running processes, so even if I kill all the services there, there are still running apps. Then, I tried to install several app killers, just to check if they kill all the running apps, but not only they don't list all the running apps, but also when killing all, there are still apps that keep running (like some games), and the only way I found to find them is checking one by one in the apps list, if they are running or not.
Is there any app to check at once ALL the running apps? I have looked for it, but all I have found are apps to do exercise ("running apps", D'oh!), and stuff like that?
I am trying to set up a script with Script Manager which will check if com.facebook.katana is running and disable it, but if it isn't running then it will enable it.
The enable and disable part is easy using pm enable/disable but how do I check what is running?
