Jul 16, 2010
Tired of using the same old home launcher program? Want something to add some woah factor to your Evo? Well, you have came to the right place! If you have any questions, please let me know.
1) Download the following app : LauncherPro Beta - Android app on AppBrain
2)Once installed, click on the home button. You should now get this popup :
3)Make sure you click on LauncherPro
4)Now that you have that done, your screen should look like this :
5)Now, lets say you want some custom looking icons like these :
6)Go to the website www.iconfinder.com type in what kind of icon you want, kind of like Home, or anything of the sort.
7)Download them onto your computer (its easier to make a folder dedicated to all of your icons at first). Once done, put the files on your phones sd card.
8)Now, go onto the homescreen of your phone. Click and hold onto the icon you want to replace till this screen appears :
For the home screen button change, (the grid), click on app drawer.
9)You will now get this screen :
10)Select custom icon
11)Find the folder your icons are in
12)Select which one you want to use
13)Now you have this! :
Do this for anyones that you want to change!
If you havent noticed yet, the dock on the bottom scrolls down so you have these :
Want to get rid of them? Simple. Select blank, and it will dissapear. It will now look like this.

I like Sense, but I also like LauncherPro.. especially the animations when you click the 'apps' button and the menu zooms in and has a 3d effect. Is there anyway to add that effect with out Launcher Pro ?

I downloaded it from the Market but it does not show in the installed applications.
So I tried again and again it said it is installed but still no icon.
But it does show as installed under settings, applications, manage Applications.

I saw a thread asking why so many people prefer LauncherPro over ADW, and I was surprised to see that one of the biggest reasons people liked LauncherPro was because of the 3D app drawer. Well being the mass follower that I am, I decided it must be better than I initially thought so I decided to try it out again. I used it for a week or so but just couldn't fall in love with it.
That being the case, I decided to start a thread asking if and why people like the 3d app drawer...I figure I must be missing something still.

So I just started using LauncherPro Plus, and now I can't make widgetlocker home my default like I used to. When I do, it just reverts my home screens back to sense.

I just discovered something very strange. I had installed LauncherPro from the Market a couple of weeks ago to try it out on my Moto Droid, and was able to run it by selecting its icon from my list of apps in my app drawer. I recently downloaded an update for it, and now it no longer shows up in my app drawer. If I go to Settings:Applications:Manage Applications it shows LauncherPro as being installed... However, it is nowhere to be found. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it twice using Manage Applications, but to no avail.
Is this a problem with LauncherPro or my phone? None of my other installed applications have icons that have disappeared like this before.

Just installed 4.4 from the Market. How do you set this thing up? I see that when I hit home I have the option of using it, but I don't see how to actually get into any settings or configuration interface (to choose the number of home screens, etc.)

No massive complaints here, just a couple of weird things happening ever since I upgraded to LauncherPro Plus.First, sometimes when I unlock my droid the browser is magically open and waiting for me, though I never opened it in the first place. Second, the Facebook app randomly closes when I'm using it.Can't really pinpoint anything new I've done to my phone other than LauncherPro Plus.I love the launcher, so I'll keep it, but I was just curious if anyone else if having strange stuff happening to them.I am rooted - BB 0.4, Chevy LV 1.1 GHZ kernel

I love LauncherPro and Froyo, but every time I use a ROM for a few days, LP starts to bug out on me. The problem occurs when I wake up the phone or when I return to the home screen after using a program for awhile.
I have tweaked my settings quite a bit, and I can't seem to avoid this kind of behavior. My overclock settings are 785-245 and I have tried messing with the LP settings, but I can't find that golden combination.
Lots of people say LP is the best option for Froyo, and I certainly like it best... when it's working. So could someone who is having no problems please share the secret to your success?

Anyone have this combination?? It felt like with the adw it was laggy. Is there something i should change in the settings while using launcherpro? or adw? Such as the speed of flicking the homescreens, maybe theres a good set up of settings to go by?

I'm not massively impressed with VillainROM 1.5 to be honest, the battery life is way down on what I used to get with VR12 and I'm debating going back to that but one thing I DO love is LauncherPro and the little dock it gives at the bottom of the screen. My query is:can you just install that onto VR12 (so, just Android 2.1) or not?

If it's possible to have FroydVillain 1.5 just as standard Froyo without any type of launcher like LauncherPro and ADW etc? I've been looking around and can see that you can remove LauncherPro using Titanium Backup but they always say to have another home launcher installed before doing so.

How do you launch this application? On my old phone, it was listed under programs. Now on my new phone, I downloaded it and do not see it there anymore. I've looked everywhere, how does one launch this app?

I've got a question or problem.
If I've got LauncherPro as my standard launcher I have a problem when I boot my phone up. If I do not put in my PIN in time it further boots up without the SIM loaded. That means that I can't text, use data (except for WiFi), call.
I then have to reboot the phone again and put in my PIN. That's quite annoying when you're booting the phone up, which takes a LONG time. If I lay down my phone for a few seconds when it's booting up and I pick it back up, I can reboot it because I didn't put my PIN in time...

just got my first Android phone today - a Captivate. I've been doing some reading and think I might want to try out Launcher Pro (the paid version?) and Beautiful Widgets. I just want to make sure there wasn't a whole lot of overlap in these two products. Do they work well together? Do most of you run both of them at the same time? This could be a pretty silly question as I totally not even sure what exactly both of these apps do.

It didn't take much time for me to fork over the $2.99 to buy the full version of LauncherPro (avaliable free, however some features are locked). This home menu is incredible. You can literally customize everything. LauncherPro is extremely responsive. I haven't experienced any lag using LauncherPro. My phone is rooted, and I use OneClickLagFix (free on market). I have not tried LauncherPro without the lag fix.
Before, I was using Home++, and was unhappy with the amount of lag I was experiencing. Even with OneClickLagFix, Home++ was laggy. I've tried numerous different home menus, and thought Home++ was the best I was going to get. I'm glad I found LauncherPro.
The feature I liked the most is the dock on the bottom. As you look at the pictures I've provided, you'll notice the dock changes on each photo. You have the option to set the number of docks you want, up to 3. The dock floats, and you can slide through the docks on any screen. I like this because I dont like having all my applications scattered across my home screen. LauncherPro comes with the option to use their custom icons for applications, rather than the default icons. I used LauncherPro icons for my main dock, and default icons for the other 2 docks. You have the option to display the number of unread messages or unread emails. You can see below, I have 2 unread emails.
On my default home screen (screeenshot1.jpg), I've got the Google search widget, Clock widget (free on market), Weather (weatherchannel app free on market), Battery Watcher (free on market) and Signal Strenght widget (free on market). You'll notice I have no applications on my home screen (as mentioned before). All the applications are on my dock. You'll notice that the google search bar doesn't take up a whole row like it normally does. LauncherPro allows you to resize your widgets. Just long click the widget you want to resize, and a resize box will appear. Resize is another one of my favorite features.
I have 3 home screens on my Vibrant, however you can have up to 7. On the screen above, I used the LauncherPro Messages widget. This widget posts all my text messages so I can read and reply to them. To reply, just click on the message you want to reply to. I also have the Power Control widget on the bottom.
On the screen above, I used the LauncherPro Facebook Widget. I find this widget a lot more easy to navigate than the default facebook widget. I resized the widget, because the default takes up the whole screen. I added the Pandora widget to the bottom. Pandora is free on the market.
Finally, the above picture is my application drawer. You'll notice towards the bottom, the applications look like they're folding into space. This is a beta option on LauncherPro, may not work so smooth on some phones. It works great with my Vibrant. It reminds me of the Star Wars introduction. You also have a home key option.
The screenshots and descriptions are some of the major features of LauncherPro. Download LauncherPro on the market, and play around with it yourself. It's easy to navigate. You wont be disappointed.

I've been posting my customizations to LP+ all over and I figured it makes more sense to just start a thread. The LP+ theme is based off of manup and fabulous's revolution theme. All widgets are themed the same way, and yes the facebook widget is included. I plan on replacing the .apk with the most current version as soon as the new one is available, so please let me know if I need to make the new one.
*No root required*
Backup current launcherpro settings
Uninstall launcherpro
Put .apk on sd card and install via astro or any other file manager
Push home button then restore backup (non LP+ widgets will have to be readded)
Adding the market version with remove all customization
Tomorrow I'm going to remake the google search box and add it to this. And I'm open to making maybe another color or two and some other widgets (free or common ones)
