Sep 2, 2010How come some of my contacts phone numbers are appearing all screwed up.In one part of the system they show up as 01######### etc, in another area they show up as 44######### but on Google they show up as 01 or +44 depending on the number but never without the + on the 44.Mainly on the mobiles they will not dial even though I have just texted the same number as the contact shows up correctly. If I try to phone the contact from Contacts I get a number incorrect message but if I phone from the sms I can call them?This has only happened since upgrading to 2.1 Orange carrier.

Sep 19, 2009I've just updated the ROM on my hero and the improvements are instantly noticeable. One thing I have seen is in the Albums menu I have another Videos directory. After looking at this I find a vid I uploaded to my phone a while ago, but before it wasn't listed. The directory is in the root of the SD card called videos. After playing around and trying to add another vid, this directory has now disappeared from the Albums list.
So, how do you store videos on you sd card and access them from the albums list? The other bits, I'm wondering about are: Can you add pics to the phone and link them with your music albums, or do the images have to be embedded in the mp3? Is there a way to download peoples facebook pictures without going to the website and doing it manually?

Jan 11, 2010i have a few questions,the first,is rom update and firmware two diffrent things?just got the htc hero on orange uk and tried to download the rom update for orange and it said my phone wasnt applicable,fair enough if its up to date but then some applications say i need a updated firmware,if this is a diffrent thing,how do i update it as there is no link on the actual phone as would be on other phones and cant find any such link on the site to download it?

I found that 9/24 nightly made things lag when you have the music player running. i've never experienced so much lag until I used my music player. Just a heads up. Great battery life. Was charged at 67 last night and woke up this morning and I'm at 16 percent and the Battery Info says it's been off the charger for 12 hours. Imagine if I was at 100 percent instead of 67. That's with the collins battery tweak with kernal 14
9/13 didn't give me a lot of freezes and restarts, but lately it started. I'm assuming this is because of jit maybe?
As a previous thread I made, the latest nightlys give you the ability to "swipe" your individual notifications instead of just pushing the "clear all" button. nice addition.

Jul 22, 2010To get pictures/music/apps onto your phone from your PC and avoid having to use a USB cable, an easy method is to install dropbox from the marketplace and install on your computer. You can then easily place any file into the dropbox on your computer and it will automatically sync. A great feature of the android dropbox is that is allows instalation of .apk files as well, saving time all round. Thought I'd pass on this bit of advice here as i found it to be very useful. I don't intend to root at the moment because it's not what i need and I want to see how I like froyo. I will be using launcher pro but I really want these, or similar, dock icons but can't seem to locate them. I don't need to root or anything to get the completely transparent dock background do I? And for those with macs, what do you feel that the best way to move things between your phone and mac are? I plan on using double twist unless someone can mention something they feel is better!

During the day I have "data enabled" most of the time because if someone sends me an email I want to be able to reply. However data enabled does cause significant battery drain and my email only gets checked every hour.
Is it possible to create a tasker task that turns on "data enabled" and checks emails once an hour and then turns off "data enabled"?
HTC Hero :: Saving Battery Life
Jul 9, 2010I don't have the Hero in front of me to experiment as I've given it to the missus.
Basically she lives in a low reception area right on the edge of where 3G signal drops out and her battery is lasting hours instead of days (when I tested it in a good reception area). I figure the battery is getting eaten up having to keep reconnecting to the mobile network.
She uses the Gmail app alot (not the other Mail app where you can specify when to check for mail). She would also no doubt have Facebook, Twitter, Gtalk, Googlemaps' Latitude, MSN Talk all active. I dunno if there's anything else that needs data in the background :P
Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a way to control all of these apps so that they either don't need data as often or super easy ways to turn things off/on. I guess what I mean is that if you have to go and check each of these things manually.
