HTC Hero :: Storing Videos And A Couple Of Other Things

I've just updated the ROM on my hero and the improvements are instantly noticeable. One thing I have seen is in the Albums menu I have another Videos directory. After looking at this I find a vid I uploaded to my phone a while ago, but before it wasn't listed. The directory is in the root of the SD card called videos. After playing around and trying to add another vid, this directory has now disappeared from the Albums list.
So, how do you store videos on you sd card and access them from the albums list? The other bits, I'm wondering about are: Can you add pics to the phone and link them with your music albums, or do the images have to be embedded in the mp3? Is there a way to download peoples facebook pictures without going to the website and doing it manually?

Not sure how to do this. Unfortunately it's not as easy as erasing them from a my es file manager. I'm trying to get rid of the standard music player (Rock On from SlideMe is still a tad glitchy, but it's mostly fantastic for it's ineffable ability to land artwork for every album and the last.fm tour finder) and also Sprint Navigation (pointless with Google Maps).

When i download things from the "Shop" i cant choose where to save it. It only starts to download.
I find the SDHC 8 GB in the phone and i have formated it.

How come some of my contacts phone numbers are appearing all screwed up.In one part of the system they show up as 01######### etc, in another area they show up as 44######### but on Google they show up as 01 or +44 depending on the number but never without the + on the 44.Mainly on the mobiles they will not dial even though I have just texted the same number as the contact shows up correctly. If I try to phone the contact from Contacts I get a number incorrect message but if I phone from the sms I can call them?This has only happened since upgrading to 2.1 Orange carrier.

i have a few questions,the first,is rom update and firmware two diffrent things?just got the htc hero on orange uk and tried to download the rom update for orange and it said my phone wasnt applicable,fair enough if its up to date but then some applications say i need a updated firmware,if this is a diffrent thing,how do i update it as there is no link on the actual phone as would be on other phones and cant find any such link on the site to download it?

A few of you have a widget that is 4x1 and controls things like Wifi-GPS- Screen Brightness - and Mobile network. It is one, whole widget, that looks clean and neat. What is the name of said widget? I searched the forums, and when I typed in "4x1 widget" 11 pages of results came up, but when I typed only "4x1", Nothing came up. I tried to search fr it. My phone is NOT rooted.

I really like the new Google Navigation, and it would be really handy for when I go abroad cycling, apart from the roaming charges. Any apps that can cashe the maps and store them, or must I always be connected?

Lets discuss the best nightly combos with kernals and other things to make CM6 better.
I found that 9/24 nightly made things lag when you have the music player running. i've never experienced so much lag until I used my music player. Just a heads up. Great battery life. Was charged at 67 last night and woke up this morning and I'm at 16 percent and the Battery Info says it's been off the charger for 12 hours. Imagine if I was at 100 percent instead of 67. That's with the collins battery tweak with kernal 14
9/13 didn't give me a lot of freezes and restarts, but lately it started. I'm assuming this is because of jit maybe?
As a previous thread I made, the latest nightlys give you the ability to "swipe" your individual notifications instead of just pushing the "clear all" button. nice addition.

I'm trying to use the GeoCoder to get the lat/lon for a couple of addresses. I'm running into an error where the address list comes back empty sometimes. It seems to be completely random. I have a start point and an end point to draw and route. Sometimes I can't get either one, sometimes I can get the start but not the end, sometimes I can get the end but not the start. I never seem to be able to get both. Not sure why. Yesterday it worked fine.

Took these last night in a dim room. The illumination was from the phone's flash. It took a few attempts to get them in focus, but the results are pretty good for a camera on a phone.

Given a choice, I would still prefer my regular shooter, but I am quite satisfied with what the EVO camera can do in a pinch. Video is still a bit disappointing, but again, good for a phone.

Steps necessary to add a couple simple attributes to the stock Android Contacts application. Also, in the event the vendor has shipped their own Contacts application, will the same solution apply equally well to those handsets shipped with custom apps? I'm not looking for anyone to supply code; just a design pattern and any caveats I need to be aware of. I am writing an application that requires a couple new properties on the contact.

I had a quick question about the AMOLED Screen the Incredible uses. I noticed that if you have for example white text on a black background for an extended period of time and go to a full black screen you can still see the ghosting of the text like it has been temporarily burned into the screen. It goes away after a couple of seconds. But I'm worried a display on for too long could result in a more permanent burn. Could this be a case of burning or is it just the way the screen refreshes? As I am not too familiar with the AMOLED Screen. Hopefully some of you more screen technology savy people may know what's going on. And hopefully this will be helpful to others as I couldn't find any other thread relating to this. Thank you in advance.

I just have a couple of questions:
1. What is the risk of bricking my device really? Has anyone here ever had a problem with it before?
2. Does rooting absolutely void your warranty no matter what?
3. If it does void your warranty, can they turn you down if your phone breaks for something unrelated to rooting? For example if I root my phone now, and then 4 months later I drop it and it breaks will they fix it?
4. How do they know if you rooted your phone? If I brick it accidentally is there any way for them to know that it was rooted if I don't tell them? I mean it could have just as easily been a manufacturing error, they wouldn't know until they've restored it to it's original state.

I have lost a couple of pictures from the people widget yet the photos have not been deleted from the phone.When I view the relevant contacts in people or receive a text then the relevant photo appears at the side of the contact but not in the widget.

Music plays automatically at a couple of instances:
1) Whenever I turn on my car and it connects to bluetooth (not a big problem)
2) Whenever I hang up a call
3) Most of the time if I Ignore an incoming call
I was in a meeting today and answered a phone call. I hang up and BAM, the music starts playing automatically. Of course at this particular time I was listening to Opie and Anthony and the first two words were something I'm not even allowed to say on this forum. I had to defend my damn job after that. This happens with both the default music player and Audible and has happened with other 3rd party music players, so it's not just an isolated incident with one particular app. Only one app plays at a time, and it seems to be whatever app I used last? I absolutely love the droid platform and my Incredible, but I'm going to have to get rid of this phone if I can't fix this problem. I see no reason that a music player should start automatically after hanging up a phone call.

I've been using AppBrain to interface with the Android Market and I have been running into an issue where I try to install a couple of apps, it says it's starting download, but then nothing happens. I even turned on and off my 3G a few times, with no luck. This has happened once before. Is there something wrong or is this a case where the Android Market is a POS?

I have a rogers branded and locked magic that I am using in toronto. My device is not rooted, yet. I have had an issue recently where my phone will not be able to use any data, even though i have a connection to the rogers network. I looked at my phone and noticed an error in the notification bar that showed an exclamation point next to the sync symbol (for syncing to my exchange server). At first I thought it was a server issue and proceeded to try to manually get it to sync several times, but it would not.
I noticed that my signal strength showed a couple of bars, but there was no indication that data was being transmitted (usually I see the G or H over some arrows). I opened the browser to see if it would connect to the internet and sure enough it would not. It happened on sat and now it happened again this morning. I tried pulling powering it off and on, pulling the battery, etc, with no luck. Each time I had to go into the network settings and select the rogers network before it would work again. The rogers network showed as my provider and the APN showed rogers as well.

I'm putting my X back to stock and unrooting for eventual froyo. I've got it all from a package except one: com.vznavigator.I cannot find it anywhere. Did our phones come with vz navigator? If so, where can I find this app? Downloaded systemapp2.1 and it's not in there either.

I am new to android and trying to create a customized list. Every item in the list has TextView and one Ratingbar. I now want add a couple of command buttons at the end of the list (like BACK, HOME, , NEXT). When I add these extra views to the layout xml file then they get added along with every item in the list. I think there should be another layout defined for the buttons to be displayed separate from the list. Anyone has an idea on how to do this?

Ok, my camera is slow! It takes a couple minutes sometimes to open, if it even opens at all! Everything else on the phone works fine, but this slow camera is very irritating. Any ideas on what I can do to get it running a little quicker?
