HTC Desire :: How To Put Things Onto Phone?

To get pictures/music/apps onto your phone from your PC and avoid having to use a USB cable, an easy method is to install dropbox from the marketplace and install on your computer. You can then easily place any file into the dropbox on your computer and it will automatically sync. A great feature of the android dropbox is that is allows instalation of .apk files as well, saving time all round. Thought I'd pass on this bit of advice here as i found it to be very useful. How come some of my contacts phone numbers are appearing all screwed up.In one part of the system they show up as 01######### etc, in another area they show up as 44######### but on Google they show up as 01 or +44 depending on the number but never without the + on the 44.Mainly on the mobiles they will not dial even though I have just texted the same number as the contact shows up correctly. If I try to phone the contact from Contacts I get a number incorrect message but if I phone from the sms I can call them?This has only happened since upgrading to 2.1 Orange carrier.

After many weeks of waiting and my fiasco almost switching to an Incredible, my X finally arrived today. I'm new to the forum but have been reading around since ordering my phone. I don't intend to root at the moment because it's not what i need and I want to see how I like froyo. I will be using launcher pro but I really want these, or similar, dock icons but can't seem to locate them. I don't need to root or anything to get the completely transparent dock background do I? And for those with macs, what do you feel that the best way to move things between your phone and mac are? I plan on using double twist unless someone can mention something they feel is better!

it seems like everything just boots when the phone does..i have advanced task manager to end things that arent in use every 30 min but that doesnt take care of them booting up to begin with..like facebook yes i use it but why does it have to be a running app on boot same for the market.

So I am trying to see if there is anyway to set the phone to do different things at different percentages. B/c once my moment it 5% it dims and keyboard no longer lights up. But I know it really isn't that low do to the well battery reading issue.

so ive been using better keyboard since I had my Eris..I just noticed it started to do something annoying that it did on the Eris..and it just came out of nowhere. when I'm typing a text, ill type my first letter, hit space, and then for ni reason at all it switches to the 123 number symbol view...for no reason. its so annoying. any ideas?

Ok here is another thing that gets me. I just got done trying some games that uses the track ball button to induce action. Of course we don't have one. Is there any way to play these things without a track ball? My preference is to not have a trackball but now it cripples some apps.

Just noticed that there doesn't appear to be any kind of optical trackpad on it. How will you be able to do things like move a cursor through text? Are they just relying on the bigger screen to enable more accurate touching?

I'm new here and I want to start things out by asking you guys about certain things Android is lacking. As many of you know, the OS is only a year old but is rapidly evolving. I don't own an Android device yet (I currently have the HTC HD2). I'm waiting for Android to grow considerably bigger so I won't have to worry about future upgrades. Android is an awesome OS and a lot of devices carrying the OS is very good, but I feel there are some things is still lacking. In your opinions, what are the things still lacking? I can only think of one (only because my brain is dried out from work): full flash support. I guess you can also add: more memory but this is more of a micro-SD card issue instead of Android.

I had a Desire but now have the Wildfire and things look bigger on the wildfire then on the desire like Apps icons and when im using the internet so would like to know if there is anyway of making things look smaller? I have a website that I have to log into and out of everyday. I usually do it from my phone to make it easier. I accidentally put in the wrong user name one day and now that user name is saved in there and I have to retype my actual user name to log in. Is there anyway I can clear the history somehwere so it wont save that one?

I am thinking about switching to the evo from my epic I really like the epic but not liking the slider and earpiece on it. My question is I really like the little click noise it makes when you clicking on things when typing and in the menu does the Evo have this feature and I know it doesn't have swype is there anything comparable for the Evo seeing it doesnt have it?

I just about got this, but I have a small problem in the order of things going off.
Specifically, in my thread() I am setting up an array that is used by a Spinner. Problem is the Spinner is all set and done basically before my thread() is finished, so it sets itself up with a null array.
How do I associate the spinners ArrayAdapter with an array that is being loaded by another thread?
I've cut the code down to what I think is necessary to understand the problem, but just let me know if more is needed. The problem occurs whether or not refreshData() is called.
Along the same lines, sometimes I want to call loadData() from the menu. Directly following loadData() if I try to fire a toast on the next line this causes a forceclose, which is also because of how I'm implementing ProgressDialog.
