Sprint HTC Hero :: File In Root Directory Of Your SD Card Named Search.trace?
Jun 17, 2010Do anyone have a file in the root directory of your SD card named search.trace? I have one that is about 8.5 megs. I took a look at it but it didn't look like the entries were specific to a particular app. Looks like some system log. Anyone know if there would be a problem deleting it?

Feb 11, 2010there is no internal phone search! This seems really strange to me for a phone that has the Google branding. So they?re just for the internet and nothing else!? As a long-time Palm user, this was something that I used very regulary and I was surprised to find this feature missing ? it seems like it should be standard. Every computer/laptop has it in the form of either the Finder or Start/Search and a lot phones have it too. Anybody heard anything adding this one or anthing else relating to it? Or can you do this after you root?

Feb 27, 2010I have a rooted HTC Hero (Sprint), Fresh, Gumbo Kernel that runs wonderfully. Lateley however, my phone is not reading my sd card. Im unaware of the class, but it is an 8gb scan disk minisd. It has worked for over a year. I try to copy my information onto my desktop to reformat the sd, but it stops in the middle of the transfer. I have tried to find info on this issue, and I apologize if a thread has already been started.

Jul 31, 2010So, I was having problems with my Hero not playing videos that were on the sd card, also having problems playing videos on the youtube app. So, I did a nand restore. I also did the restore because my phone was being laggy after installing the DB-OC kernel to speed up the phone. So, I nand restored back to before I flashed the kernel. So it is now running Aloysius 2.1 LWP non-OC. But, now all of a sudden my phone wont register my SD Card, at all. I run Dark Tremor app2sd, and can use some of my apps, while others just force close, or hang. I shut my phone off, and put in a different SD Card, to see if the phone was not registering it, instead of it being the card itself. The phone didn't register the other card.
So, I put in my original sd card after turning the phone off again, and it still isn't registering, and is force closing many apps. Does anyone know what to do in order to fix this? I have no idea why it even started having this problem registering the sd card, as it was reading it just fine earlier. I would do a complete wipe of the phone, and sd card, but am not sure if that will make the phone register the sd card again. When I put my sd card into my laptop, the laptop read it just fine. Please, someone, help me fix this problem! Should I wipe the phone, and sd card, and repartition the card? Or should I boot into recovery and select "wipe data/factory reset"+"wipe dalvik-cache"+"wipe SD:ext partition"?

Apr 6, 2010So I've tried and tried again using RA and other linux based programs (GParted) to get my 8GB card to partition for apps2sd. Everything always runs smoothly and shows that the card is partitioned correctly. But then upon reboot the SD card shows full fat32 memory (6.9 GB). No matter what I do, after reboot, the partitions never happen. When I used GParted, and then loaded the SD card on the phone it always says that the SD card is damaged and I need to reformat. I've done that and rerun everything to no avail. Someone please tell me this issue is that the SD card is corrupted and I should give up. Because I've followed everything to a T as far as partitioning. With that I'll say that I had no problems rooting my phone, flashing ROM's/RA's, etc, and have been able to do whatever I want as far as new things to load. I've finally decided after all this time to do apps2sd, and I literally screwed around for 5+ hrs today, trying to partition the SD card properly. Any thoughts?

Apr 23, 2010So I was told by a Sprint rep that if the phone memory gets below about 80 MB then the phone will start to lag. Well I can't seem to delete enough stuff to get back above 80 MB available memory, I deleted pics, texts messages and various apps that I would have liked to keep. I started playing with my wife's phone which has more apps then mine, I checked her available phone memory and she has 102 MB!!! I can't figure out what I could have on my phone memory that would be taking up over 20 MB of space. Where can I look to try and figure this out? My wife's phone is very zippy and quick, while my phone waits forever when switching apps.
Also, How do I transfer pics I have taken on my phone to the SD card instead of using phone memory?

Jan 28, 2010For the life of me, I can't find a way to search for entries in my calendar other than manually swiping left or right while viewing the day in time grid format. This works of course but it has some obvious limitations. Now I can predict that someone will say, just use the Gmail Calendar. This is because calendar entries input into the Web Gmail Calendar show up in my HTC Hero calendar and the Gmail Calendar has a search option; i.e. so I could go to the Web, open the Gmail Calendar and search for the item there. This method works, of course, but it's kind of double the work and forces me to depend on the web instead of my HTC phone where I'd prefer to search directly inside the default Hero calendar application.

Prior to this issue, when I used either of the search widgets as I typed it would populate search results below the search text box. For some reason now this isn't happening. Jan 18, 2010I have the sprint HTC Hero with the latest update and when I'm to create a back up it doesn't let me do it. I then tried to downgrade the phone installing the the Sprint RUU and when I tried to install the AndroidSDK drivers I can't get to see the Serial Number of my device when I search in the command bar (following the steps of the Unlock). I'm using Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Any help will be appreciated.

Jul 5, 2010I have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
