If you tap the captive button twice in the browser it will bring up the quick search option (search your phone). Yea I know a lot of people already knew but I didn't so I mentioned it!

Something fishy is going on with her phone. On the home screen when the back key is pressed it brings up the Quick Search. OK, that's no big deal. Not the end of the world.When you navigate through regular menus like Settings the back key works fine. But if, for example, you go to Contacts, Open a contact, tap the address to show it on a map, click on the map to see Street View, you would expect that the back key would back-track you through all of those steps right back to the home screen. But it doesn't. The Quick Search keeps popping up instead and it's quite a job to get back to the home screen.Reboot doesn't change that.Anyone else seen this or has any ideas? It can't be a dodgy button because the navigation works as expected in other circumstances.

I am using LP so i don't know if it is part of Android or the launcher but I found this pretty neat.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLurked for short time. Good site. Wife and I got Eris each. hers does not 'buzz' when tapping the 'home, menu, back and search' touch keys. Could not figure it out. Any suggestions? (Love the phones by the way!) OH!!! And, bought the Seido 3500 mah battery. it really is not that big, fits in my hand nicely. I will let you know how it lasts. charged last night and still strong today. But I will keep updated.

How can I disable this? Even I have Easy Touch Mode "unchecked" it still answers only with tapping.

Before, when I pressed the search button (the one with the magnifying glass) it cued up the google search bar. Now, after theming, the search button does nothing from the homescreen, but does still work while in applications, the browser, the market, etc. I am running launcher pro, deodexed w/ revolution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my droid eris recently and I am loving this thing but yesterday I sat down to slowly enter all my contacts into the eris and I noticed something. There is no contact list, am I wrong? Because I have spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out where the contacts are on this thing and its just not there. By contacts I don't mean something complicated, I mean literally a button on or in the phone that will take me to a window which will allow me to enter a name and a number, and then will show me in alphabetical order, simple as that. I cant find it.

I don't get the little favorite option. My favorites home screen works, but on the call>menu I have People and Call History, but no Favorites button? When the Verizon upgrade came up, the first time I did not use the option to clear data. Big mistake. Make sure you clear data when upgrading to 2.1.

Has anyone noticed that when you hold the power button, the Silent Mode will be listed as ON when the volume is on? Isn't this backwords? Then to silent the phone, I tap the Silent mode, and it switches to OFF and then the phone is silent (with the (/) through a music note in the taskbar)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Captivate for a few weeks now. I've noticed since day one that the search button 'hard button' on the lower right of the phone, mysteriously 'pressed itself'. The first few times I figured I pushed it on accident with my pinky or something. That Is Not The Case. I know I'm not going crazy but every once in awhile, the hard button lights will go on and the vibrate (I have vibrate set to on) will go on and the search will pop up. All on it's own. This happens at least 5 times a day. If not more. It doesn't do it on any one specific page, it does it no matter what I'm doing on my phone. Sometimes I'll literally watch it just laying in my hand when my phone is on and the search will pop up.

alright. Here's what i would like to know. I bought this phone just recently. And i love it. I want to find out one thing. The landscape orientation does not have the send or search button. The phone is from TIM.
I'm curious why anyone would use the Google Search box (and take up that home screen space) when all you have to do is press the magnifying glass for the same feature (and on any home screen, without having to scroll back to the widget). A long-press opens voice search, so I see no benefit in even using the widget at all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an activity which starts with a progress bar and I do not want the progress bar to go away until the processing is done, I have set the dialog to be setCancelable(false) so now user cannot cancel it with back but there are several other situations which hides the dialog for eg pressing 'search'.On clicking of 'search' button the search box and keyboard pops up,back button hides it and shows my activity which is always in the background but the dialog is gone.I can disable the search button but ideally I would want dialog to come back when the activity comes in foreground again. Any ideas how to do it?
