View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a xsd and I created Java objects using Castor. Then I imported this in my Android project and tried to build an XML from the object, using the marshal method. Marshaller.marshal(v, writer); I received some wired exception trouble processing "javax/xml/parsers/DocumentBuilder.class":... So my question is Can I use Castor inside Android, If yes how can I work around this. If no, what is the neat solution available to convert object to xml and xml to object in Android, similar to Castor.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some back end web services, SOAP web services. I would like to create an android client to use these. I'm under the impression that SOAP style web services are non trivial to setup on android, and I would prefer to use REST if possible Is there any utility that can convert REST calls to SOAP and back again? Or will I need to create my own application that listens for REST calls, makes the appropriate SOAP calls, then sends the response back as REST?

Why did gmail create these labels? All of them are empty so can I just delete them? I use the gmail app and not the HTC one.
Has anybody successfully made the switch from googlemail to gmail in the UK. I stupidly made the switch but my hero wouldn't play so I had to go back to googlemail.
I am considering trying again as I am about to change to a different rom but does anybody know if the market is clever enough to spot that @googlemail and @gmail are the same address or will I lose my paid apps?
I've just got my HTC Desire and configured it all as standard i.e. followed the install walkthough. It is now up and running but I've noticed within my GMAIL account some IMAP folders have arrived, these are new folders all emails that are used on the phone now arrive with one of these labels on. I tried changing the titles of these within GMAIL but then it sets up the Imap ones again. anyone know if I can either get the phone to stop doing this, or if I can change the label?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 hotmail accounts, a gmail account, and another account. After doing some digging it seems that the only IMAP IDLE or other push-email support for hotmail is if you have a BB. There was something about a new feature coming out with the next windows live update but that is a while away.
1. What I'm trying to do is get my gmail set up in K-9 with the IMAP IDLE. As I understand it this is near enough instant email delivery which is exactly what I need. I entered my details into K-9 using the automatic account setup. Is there a drawback to this? What about security like SSL/TLS? and authentication? And whats this about compression on Mobile/WiFi/Other networks?
I sent an email from my hotmail to test if IMAP IDLE was working. It took a 3 minute delay for both my desktop and phone to pick up the email.
I am running K-9 2.6 on a Hero 1.5
2. It is likely it was just the latency between email servers at peak time, but are there any steps I could take to tune K-9 into a leaner meaner email receiver? In the options I see 1st class folders, 2nd class folders, folders to check with push, other folder options, configuring ingoing/outgoing mail servers.
3. I understand that the 1st/2nd class are priorities but what do the above options mean for me?
4. I'm going to forward both hotmails to my gmail. Any ideas for a better setup? Or have they tried similar and had problems?
Is there a way to open attachments in either gmail or the imap email with out having to have ms office?

Does the built-in email app support imap idle on an 'ordinary' (i.e. not exchange, gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) imap mail server? Or is k-9 email the only way to go for imap idle on an Android?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI configured a couple of yahoo email accounts I have... got them setup no problem, did the manual setup, and selected IMAP... entered all the IMAP settings for incoming and outgoing servers... got it connected and receiving emails...
Problem is! NO PUSH? There's even an interval setting in the options, that asks how frequently to check, but NO PUSH...
I could have sworn when I had my first Nexus a few weeks back that my yahoo emails were getting push'ed but now I'm not so sure...
just got my new Hero yesterday and spent last night setting it up.I pull e-mail from my home e-mail server (an Excito Bubba) via IMAP, and had settings that worked flawlessly with my old HTC Tyntyn I entered these these into the Hero and although the device 'accepted' them it's not downloading any e-mail.I've searched through all the settings including how many and how frequently to download e-mail and all seems ok.It's really frustrating as it should be so simple.I've also tried a simple pop3 account that I have with lineone and no joy in setting that one up either.I called Orange tech support but they couldn't help either and I don't really want to return the phone.I have also tried a factory reset a few times and re-entered the settings via the wizard and manually but still no joy.

I was receiving RR emails thru GMail on my Droid but now they are not coming thru...I do not have Weatherbug loaded..just got phone 2 days ago so only have Pandora and SportsTap loaded. Here is what I have done so far. I set up my GMail to use my RR email as well. I went to GMail Settings. I added RR as my POP3 email account..."POP Server" set to pop.roadrunner.com and Port set to 110. In the "Accounts and Imports"..."Send mail as" the RR is set to Default. Do I need to change any of the settings in the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" section of GMail Settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to this forum. Just bought my Hero the other day and am loving it! As a die-hard Apple fan who's stuck with Sprint, I'd say the Hero get's high marks in my book.Anyway, I'm a MobileMe subscriber and have all my various email addresses funneling down to my MobileMe account. I set up the Mail app to retrieve email from my MobileMe account via IMAP but am having a bit of trouble with the Sent and Trash folders. The Android Mail client is creating a secondary Sent and Trash folder even though "Sent" and "Trash" already exist in MobileMe. I noticed that there's also a Deleted Messages and Sent Messages folder as well in the Android Mail client.I tried out the K-9 Mail client which allows you to remap the folders (I remapped Sent to Sent Messages and Trash to Deleted Messages), but I'm not a big fan of K-9 and love how the default Mail app works.Does anyone know how I might be able to remap folders or get the Sent/Trash folder in the Android Mail client to map to the Sent/Trash folder in MobileMe?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists. When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days. After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIMAP is supposed to be more efficient (and thus may save battery life), but either way on the Hero you must tell the phone to check for mail at a specified time interval (for example every 5 min.) Thus it seems that in this particular implementation neither POP or IMAP would be more efficient than the other. Anyone tested this in terms of battery usage on the Hero?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen i initially set up my evo i used a gmail account witch i no longer desire to use. I would like to switch to a newer gmail account that i set up. I thought this would be fairly simple but it turns out it isnt. From my searches people say you have to reset the phone. I would really like not to do this. I saw this on the G1 forum
Settings>Manage Applications>Gmail and then hit clear data to delete the e-mail address. Next time you open the app it asks you for your login, which would be your new email address.
I have set up email sync for IMAP and receive new emails when on Wifi. However, for some reason the sync does not work on Mobile Broadband.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Hero on o2 (an unlocked G2 Touch to be specific) which is set up to connect to my work email using the on-board mail app (the non-gmail one). As I have folders for my emails, I use IMAP both within Outlook 2003 at work and on the Hero. This all worked swimmingly for about 2 months and then recently I have noticed that I have been getting a lot fewer emails both on the Hero and within Outlook. I have also seen emails which I received during the day in Outlook disappearing after about an hour or so. I have spoken to my email provider and they tested it by sending me an email (genius) which strangely is still present in outlook, although it didn't appear on my hero. So in summary, it seems that I have two problems - my hero doesnt seem to download any emails, and my IMAP account is losing emails. I should probably add that my hero is configured to show all emails (irrespective of age or size). I have also checked my webmail and the emails are missing from there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get the mail app to display unread counts for imap folders?
I have a bunch of server-side filters that move unread email into different folders, but its not possible on the Hero to see which imap folders have unread items (except In box). I've tried both the Mail app and K-9 but couldn't find a setting to show them. Anyone else figured it out?
IMAP path prefix is missing in the HTC mail app when setting up a new email account so basically you can't set up your IMAP mail properly.
