View 2 RepliesCan we use j2me packages in android development? I just mean to say like for eg: sax parser is supported in both the platforms. So can we code the business logic in j2me platform and use that class in android platforms and vice-versa?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a xsd and I created Java objects using Castor. Then I imported this in my Android project and tried to build an XML from the object, using the marshal method. Marshaller.marshal(v, writer); I received some wired exception trouble processing "javax/xml/parsers/DocumentBuilder.class":... So my question is Can I use Castor inside Android, If yes how can I work around this. If no, what is the neat solution available to convert object to xml and xml to object in Android, similar to Castor.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have some back end web services, SOAP web services. I would like to create an android client to use these. I'm under the impression that SOAP style web services are non trivial to setup on android, and I would prefer to use REST if possible Is there any utility that can convert REST calls to SOAP and back again? Or will I need to create my own application that listens for REST calls, makes the appropriate SOAP calls, then sends the response back as REST?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis tip comes in courtesy of Mark, who was kind enough to help out fellow Android addicts get their contact syncing issues sorted out. While it?s easiest to just use gmail to sync contacts and calendar, it?s certainly not required. Here?s how you can back up your contact list for easy retrieval anytime you need them. Open your contacts application Make sure All contacts are visible, unless you only want to back up certain groups.
Hit the menu button
Hit the Import/Export button
We can verify that this works on HTC Sense phones, as well as the new Galaxy S series phones. If you?re using something a bit more vanilla, you will have an option to do the same thing but using your SIM card (through SIM Manager in the contacts menu) instead of the microSD card. Lastly, if you?re using the latest CM6, you have the option to do both!
On Windows 7 laptop. Htc sync is installed, but so far out of about 30 tries i have only managed to connect the phone once. I'm hoping to root my phone, but am not gonna have any luck if they can't bloody see each other!
View 6 Replies View RelatedBarring any complications, I will be preordering the HTC Droid Incredible on Monday, April 19th, to be shipped to me on launch (April 29th). I currently have the Blackberry Storm 1. Has anyone heard of how to import the contacts from the Storm to the Incredible? Since I will be doing the activation once I get it shipped to me and I haven't messed with the Android OS or anything with the current HTC phones or whatnot, I am not sure what it takes to get the contacts from the Blackberry to other phones.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have to move my existing contacts from HTC TyTn Windows 6 powered to HTC Hero on Android. Is there a way to export and import without going through google or any other cloud computing servers? I have PIMBackup running on HTC TyTn and that exports contacts in a CSV format. I have also located a new application (not tried it yet) will export them in XML format. Will this help with the importing? I am not able to find 1 application that will run on both the phones. I have loads of information on my contacts (from addresses to groups to different phone numbers) and I don't want to lose any of this information.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've done this app Bookmarks Easy Import that import pc bookmarks (and folders too) in Android bookmarks but it required root because it read and write directly an Android database.
know if is possible read and write Android bookmarks from b4a or java application (via API?) in a non-rooted phone?
I would like to have the same bookmark folder structure on my phone as on the computer. Chrome and stock will do this, but both insist on refreshing old tabs every time they are opened. Opera was great at this, but I can't install it at work. Dolphin proudly says it syncs with Chrome, but does nothing. All others just take all bookmarks out of the folders and throw them in a pile.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am kind of new to the G1 and this site. I've only had my phone for a few weeks. I've been using the chrome browser for it's download functions, but I can't seem to figure out the program in depth. There's some buttons that will flip between pages that are open, but I can't seem to figure out how to save bookmarks with it. Is there a text file or instructions on how to use this program?

View 2 Replies View Relatedrecently I've started using Dolphin on my android phone, and I'm wondering if there's a way to move all my bookmarks from my desktop browser (Opera 10.60) to Dolphin since I have a lot of bookmarks and having to manually add all of them would be a huge pain.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy browser got a bit out of whack (for some reason the default Google search page stopped displaying the search field). Also the 'data' was taking up almost 10MB and I'm running low on application disk space (dammit they have to find a way to let us store apps on our sdcards) Anyway.. I did a "clear data" thing on the browser, thinking this would only clear temporary internet files, but it reset everything (wiped out my favorites and saved passwords.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the "large" bookmark widget on one of my screens. Everytime i go to the websites from this link it comes up with a version of the site that is maybe a day or 2 old. For instance i just went to phandroid.com and at the top of the page it shows the latest article as "Android 2.2 allows Auto Updates" when in fact if i go on it on my laptop there are 13 new articles..... even when i refresh the page (on my phone) it does the same thing...

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough I have DolphinHD and Skyfire browsers loaded on my DInc, I generally use the default browser. Yesterday, for no apparent reason, the bookmarks would not load...instead I get a Force Close option:
Sorry! The application Internet (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try. again.
I tried loading the HTC Bookmarks widget to see if I could grab my bookmarks that way. It claims I have no bookmarks.
So, I go to the market and add the app "Bookmarks to SD". I use it to transfer those supposedly non-existant bookmarks to the SD and then I sync them to the DolphinHD browser. Voila...the bookmarks are fine and working in DolphinHD.
So, the default browser is pretty useless now since it won't let me retrieve bookmarks and I'll just use Dolphin from now on.
Is there an app which will allow you to import your bookmarks from your pc browser?
View 1 Replies View Relatednormally I have sync turned off to prolong battery life but it also removes the capability to see the desktop bookmarks while in Android's Chrome browser. I thought the bookmarks were stored locally and then synced back when sync turned on.
To see desktop bookmarks I have to flip the sync on do my thing and then flip it back off when I'm done browsing.
