View 4 Replieswhen using it with an imap (not gmail) mail account, can k-9 upload the emails you send from the mobile to the 'sent' folder on the imap server? I searched several forums reviews blogs etc but couldn't find anything on this point. It would be very useful because it would allow me to easily keep track of the emails I send from the mobile, just like I do with Profimail on my Nokia at the moment.

I want to be able to look at a of couple of different IMAP servers. I would like the number of new items in each folder (I filter on my server) a tree view of folders (so if I have a folder/subfolder then the subfolders are hidden ability to search for messages with a particular subject.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists. When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days. After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.

It is now up and running but I've noticed within my GMAIL account some IMAP folders have arrived, these are new folders all emails that are used on the phone now arrive with one of these labels on. I tried changing the titles of these within GMAIL but then it sets up the Imap ones again. anyone know if I can either get the phone to stop doing this, or if I can change the label?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 hotmail accounts, a gmail account, and another account. After doing some digging it seems that the only IMAP IDLE or other push-email support for hotmail is if you have a BB. There was something about a new feature coming out with the next windows live update but that is a while away.
1. What I'm trying to do is get my gmail set up in K-9 with the IMAP IDLE. As I understand it this is near enough instant email delivery which is exactly what I need. I entered my details into K-9 using the automatic account setup. Is there a drawback to this? What about security like SSL/TLS? and authentication? And whats this about compression on Mobile/WiFi/Other networks?
I sent an email from my hotmail to test if IMAP IDLE was working. It took a 3 minute delay for both my desktop and phone to pick up the email.
I am running K-9 2.6 on a Hero 1.5
2. It is likely it was just the latency between email servers at peak time, but are there any steps I could take to tune K-9 into a leaner meaner email receiver? In the options I see 1st class folders, 2nd class folders, folders to check with push, other folder options, configuring ingoing/outgoing mail servers.
3. I understand that the 1st/2nd class are priorities but what do the above options mean for me?
4. I'm going to forward both hotmails to my gmail. Any ideas for a better setup? Or have they tried similar and had problems?
"Unable to open connection to server." That's the message I'm getting from my Droid every time I try to set up a connection to my web hosts SMTP server using IMAP. The settings I put in the Droid work fine on my laptop and on my blackberry.
I've tries using ports 25, 1025, 465 and 587. I even tried 143 and 585. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anyone else having trouble with SMTP/IMAP connections to their email server? Right now I can't send emails from the Droid and that's a HUGE problem.
Current configuration Use Android emulator and GAE tools (to access local GAE service I set uri http://10.0.2.2:8888/XXX and it works.I would like to use Android device(phone) via USB to call web service running on connected "local" computer. What is best configuration practice ((I don't have static IP) I am using mac and linux)?

View 3 Replies View Related[Imap]/Drafts
[Imap]/Sent
[Imap]/Trash
Why did gmail create these labels? All of them are empty so can I just delete them? I use the gmail app and not the HTC one.
Just today I have started having a strange issue with Gmail on my Droid. If I delete a message from my phone, it appears to delete OK, and disappears from the phone. If I go to the computer and log in, however, the message will still be there, no matter how long I wait. This is causing my Gmail counter widget I have installed on the phone to show an incorrect number, as it is counting the messages on the server, not the phone. No matter how many times I try to resync Gmail, once I delete a message from my phone, it will not show back up on the phone, but will remain on the server until I log into a computer & delete them from there.

Does the built-in email app support imap idle on an 'ordinary' (i.e. not exchange, gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc) imap mail server? Or is k-9 email the only way to go for imap idle on an Android?

Problem is! NO PUSH? There's even an interval setting in the options, that asks how frequently to check, but NO PUSH...
I could have sworn when I had my first Nexus a few weeks back that my yahoo emails were getting push'ed but now I'm not so sure...

View 15 Replies View RelatedI'll be new to Android starting on June 4th and I'll be retiring my Blackberry Tour. There are a few apps on my Blackberry that I really like and use daily. So I have a few questions for the Android gurus out there.
1. Exchange Email- I work for a Computer Company that blocks access to their Exchange Server and although I've requested access repeatedly, they deny me every time. Is there a work around for Android similar to the Blackberry Desktop Redirector?
2. Sirius/XM- I know it's not available yet for Android but I was wondering if anyone has an update on the future availability of this App for the Evo.
3. Password Keeper- I would not be able to survive without this App on my Blackberry. Is there something as good or better available on the Android Market?
4. Can anyone recommend a good Chess Application for the Evo?

It's the only way the can access tp their emails and other documents securly. Do you know any free or paid software to perform this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt my campus, to get internet connection, I need to log on to a SSH server like they write:.you must manually log in to the firewall server, by establishing a pseudo-tty-less ssh connection to it. The following command can be used on most systems: ssh -T -l [username] [server-URL]I must be logged on to the server for as long as I want internet.Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish this on Android?I have a little experience in writing basic apps for Android, but not much with SSH, any help is appreciated.
/Update
Tried ConnectBot, but the server replies "You may only connect without a pseudo-tty!" at login attempt. I have no idea what "pseudo-tty" is, and I have looked in the settings of ConnectBot, there is no mention of this.
/Update2
Searched for any further info about the pseudo-tty-less function, in connection with OpenSSH. No luck so far, only a definition of the -T parameter which has no equivalent in ConnectBot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PPTP VPN connection that I use from time to time to access files on my Windows server at work when I am at home on my laptop or on another computer. It works great... I just map the drive in windows and bingo, my files are there.
So, I was excited when I set my VPN connection up on my Samsung Captivate (it is rooted, if it matters). I set everything up, and it connected on the first try. I sat there and looked at the screen and thought, "okay, what do I do now?"
Perhaps I am missing the boat on this whole VPN for Android thing, but is there a way to access the files on a VPN server? I have the ability to map the drives on a PC, but I can not find a spot to do it on the Android.
