Oct 4, 2010I just found this on my phone. What is it, is it to use my phones. Data allowance on a PC or laptop. Something like a dongle for mobile broadband. Do I just connect USB to phone and com press start and then it uses my 1gb off my phone data?

Aug 6, 2010I can't get a fully functioning data connection on my Galaxy S through my current SIM card. I can browse with Opera (which doesn't seem to care what the APN settings are) but nothing else works, (unless I get a wifi connection, which works fine). The problem may or may not disappear when I move countries soon (to Indonesia) but I'd like to understand what's going on.
I bought it in Singapore - it's got a SingTel setup (sticker on the back, boot screen, links on home) but it's supposed to be unlocked (and SingTel say they sell them unlocked too). A guy at the Samsung service center in Singapore said it was "locked" for other countries though because they don't yet have the Galaxy S - but once phone companies have the right settings for the phone it should be fine. I used it with a different Singapore phone company (StarHub) with a data plan for a couple of days that worked fine. I browsed and used the Google Maps app, no problem.
Then the problem. I came to Malaysia a week ago and bought a Maxis SIM card. At their service center they entered the APN settings (they already sell the Galaxy S), and the internet worked when I tested it on a few pages. 30 min later I tried again and got nothing, and it didn't come back. I returned to the service center, they made small changes to the settings, and it worked again... for a few minutes only. Then I discovered that I can browse in Opera - even if I use dummy APN settings (random numbers in one field and everything else blank or default).
However after I restarted the phone again, I couldn't repeat the success. I stopped unneeded apps, I uninstalled NimBuzz, I tried restarting over and over... but I get no connection other than with Opera. I've tried other internet apps (Maps, sync in GTasks, OkCupid, NimBuzz) and none work. Any clues as to what's going on?

I had played around yesterday to try old different things to extend battery life and must have changed something dang it! I tried menu-->wireless&networks-->mobile networks-->enable always on....and marked it. and I also tried to unmark it.

didn't want to do hard reset because I had to put in all contact manually...ugh

Sep 1, 2010ok the weather and gmail turn em selfs off all the time , in sync and also today mobile network keeps switching itself off. is ther anything i can do to resolve this

However, I'd like to also sync my calendar... or at least be able to get my work calendar to show as a "new" calendar in the Droid, without transferring all my personal calendar stuff to my work calendar.

Aug 21, 2009I've imported all the contacts from outlook to my mobile without any problem but when I open People they are divided in two alphabetically sorted lists: i have some contacts sorted from A to Z and then the remaining sorted as well from A to Z but this second batch has dividers between contacts starting with different letters.All my contacts are there but it's very annoying to have them divided in 2 lists, any idea how to organize them in a single list?Second problem is that I can't sync new entries in the mobile's calendar with outlook. HTC Sync doesn't see them at all. Any idea how to fis this as well?

When I use the program "mail" on my Eris and input my email and password it automatically uses an imap server. I notice that on the imap server I cannot use WiFi to check my email. When I use the Yahoo mail as a pop server it works perect on WiFi. I don't understand the difference. Which is better imap or pop?

I only ask as i wish to connect to my Uni email address and the IMAP settings are restricted on undergraduate accounts, so cant sync in the usual way via IMAP. However, people who have BB's at uni have no issue in connecting to their emails. On asking the IT guys why this is they explained "The reason people are able to use Blackberry?s is due to the fact that they provide there password to an external company to access there mail on behalf of them which is strongly against the terms and conditions of there university account, and as a result should not be doing this at all." Essentially i need an app that mimics this. his new HTC desire?

Feb 13, 2010I configured a couple of yahoo email accounts I have... got them setup no problem, did the manual setup, and selected IMAP... entered all the IMAP settings for incoming and outgoing servers... got it connected and receiving emails...
Problem is! NO PUSH? There's even an interval setting in the options, that asks how frequently to check, but NO PUSH...
I could have sworn when I had my first Nexus a few weeks back that my yahoo emails were getting push'ed but now I'm not so sure...
HTC Hero :: IMAP E-mail Not Working On New Hero
Aug 29, 2009just got my new Hero yesterday and spent last night setting it up.I pull e-mail from my home e-mail server (an Excito Bubba) via IMAP, and had settings that worked flawlessly with my old HTC Tyntyn I entered these these into the Hero and although the device 'accepted' them it's not downloading any e-mail.I've searched through all the settings including how many and how frequently to download e-mail and all seems ok.It's really frustrating as it should be so simple.I've also tried a simple pop3 account that I have with lineone and no joy in setting that one up either.I called Orange tech support but they couldn't help either and I don't really want to return the phone.I have also tried a factory reset a few times and re-entered the settings via the wizard and manually but still no joy.

As a die-hard Apple fan who's stuck with Sprint, I'd say the Hero get's high marks in my book.Anyway, I'm a MobileMe subscriber and have all my various email addresses funneling down to my MobileMe account. I set up the Mail app to retrieve email from my MobileMe account via IMAP but am having a bit of trouble with the Sent and Trash folders.The Android Mail client is creating a secondary Sent and Trash folder even though "Sent" and "Trash" already exist in MobileMe. I noticed that there's also a Deleted Messages and Sent Messages folder as well in the Android Mail client.I tried out the K-9 Mail client which allows you to remap the folders (I remapped Sent to Sent Messages and Trash to Deleted Messages), but I'm not a big fan of K-9 and love how the default Mail app works.Does anyone know how I might be able to remap folders or get the Sent/Trash folder in the Android Mail client to map to the Sent/Trash folder in MobileMe?

Jan 28, 2010I've tried searching for this issue around the forums, but I can't find anything similar.I bought a Hero about a month ago, and I use the Gmail app to get my Google Mail with no problems at all.I set up the default Mail app to get my work e-mail using an IMAP incoming server and SMTP outgoing server, and that's where my problem exists.When I set up the account on the Mail app, everything works great and it downloads the e-mails I've received within the last few days.After 12-24 hours, it stops downloading any e-mails into my Inbox. If I hit refresh, it refreshes without any error messages, but no mail shows up.I tried deleting the mail account several times and setting it up anew; each time the same thing happens it works for the first 12-24 hours and then stops downloading.(I can still send e-mails with no problem.I've tested that.)The strangest part is that if I hit Menu from my Inbox and choose the Folders option, I get a folders list that has some of my IMAP folders in it, but then where the list should include folders that have sub-folders, it instead begins a list of literally thousands of folder names like {33}, {51}, {20}, {27}, {22}, {34}, and so on. (The numbers in the brackets appear as the folder names, and the numbers often repeat, but not in a recognizable pattern.) Overall, the list of "folders" with those numbers in brackets is thousands of items long.

Nov 22, 2009IMAP is supposed to be more efficient (and thus may save battery life), but either way on the Hero you must tell the phone to check for mail at a specified time interval (for example every 5 min.) Thus it seems that in this particular implementation neither POP or IMAP would be more efficient than the other. Anyone tested this in terms of battery usage on the Hero?

Mar 18, 2010I have a HTC Hero on o2 (an unlocked G2 Touch to be specific) which is set up to connect to my work email using the on-board mail app (the non-gmail one). As I have folders for my emails, I use IMAP both within Outlook 2003 at work and on the Hero. This all worked swimmingly for about 2 months and then recently I have noticed that I have been getting a lot fewer emails both on the Hero and within Outlook. I have also seen emails which I received during the day in Outlook disappearing after about an hour or so. I have spoken to my email provider and they tested it by sending me an email (genius) which strangely is still present in outlook, although it didn't appear on my hero. So in summary, it seems that I have two problems - my hero doesnt seem to download any emails, and my IMAP account is losing emails. I should probably add that my hero is configured to show all emails (irrespective of age or size). I have also checked my webmail and the emails are missing from there.

Here is the spec's include a 3.5-inch WVGA display, 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, 3.2 MP camera with 30fps video record/playback, and Android 1.6. So this is great news for us that already have the Eris on Cricket because now there will be a way to fix the mms problem and the broadband work around. As soon as they release this phone I will be digging in to fix these problem that we all have right now I hope that they go with a mobile IP lets all keep our fingers crossed.

But when i try to go to a website in the browser it will not load the new page and after a while it says "web page not available the web page at www.website.com might be temporarily down or it may have been moved permanently to a new web address. here are some suggestions : Check to make sure your device has a signal and data connection. reload this webpage later. or view a cached copy of the web page from google. So it will not connect to another website. So i went to the verizon store and asked them what was wrong, but then my droid connected to their wireless network just fine. So i came home and the same problem happened again with my wireless connection. Has anyone else had this problem and if so then how do you fix it. Is it my droid, or my wireless router.

Sep 10, 2010Droid Incredible running 2.2 OTA. When watching live streaming content using NFL Mobile app over my wifi connection(which is Cox Cable), the feed loses its connection after exactly five minutes of streaming. At the five minute mark, the feed will freeze and the V-Cast loading icon will appear spinning, then an error message will appear saying that NFL Mobile could not establish a connection. Back out at any point during this and hit the button to play live content, live content will work again flawlessly for exactly five minutes. Then the feed will freeze, etc...There are no problems with live streaming content when I am using 3G. I have tried using several different routers at different settings and the problem occurs the same with all of them, and I have no problems with streaming content over wifi other than NFL Mobile. This problem also never occurred with the versions of NFL Mobile prior to the current 2.0 version. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The app streams much better over wifi, but that's not worth having to restart it every five minutes. A big reason of mine for being with Verizon is the NFL Mobile app so if anyone knows anything please let me know.
