I have installed open home as my main screen replacement and last time I was in the menu option I selected the default button to Open Home. So now when I click the home screen I dont get the options to switch between Open Home, HTC's standard and or ahome etc. How do I remove the default setting?

Wotcher all, I've had my HTC "Hero" (daft name) for about a week now and since the first few days after I'd installed a few apps, when I long-press the Home screen button, the list of last-run apps appears as expected, however the TouchFlo app (or the Home app if I'm experimenting with stock android) also appear in this list. The next time I use the Home button it gives me the choice of using Home or TouchFlo and setting one of them as the default. I hit the "use as default" button and hit TouchFlo and all is well again. However as soon as I use a long-press of the Home button again, the phone forgets the default setting and reverts to asking me which one of Home or TouchFlo I want to use as the default action for Home button presses.Does anyone know a fix for this? I've gone into App Manager and unset all the defaults, but that's had no effect. I am living with it by just not using the long-press of the Home key, as long as I avoid that the phone remembers to use TouchFlow as the default action for Home presses. I've also tried switching to using the stock Android Home app instead of HTC's but still get the phone forgetting the default when I use the long-press of Home.

Now, because of the new features added to Open Home i want to switch back, and every time i open 'Open Home' it only opens until i hit the home key. Then it does not ask me what i want to use as my default as it used to. I went to settings>applications>manage applications>open home to clear all defaults but it is not highlighted for me to select it. How can i set Open Home to my default again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have started using Waze for my GPS navigation needs. The problem is, I had previously told my phone to use Google Maps Navigation (or simply "Navigation", the one with the blue arrow icon, instead of the other option at the time which was TeleNav GPS Navigator), but I can't seem to remove that default app setting.
I have gone to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All to look for the Navigation app and clear "Launch by Default" setting, but it does not appear in the list of apps at all.
Is this a thing about Google apps, that they are kept hidden and forever locked into being your default app once you tell it so? I thought maybe it was part of the regular Google Maps app, but the setting there says there are no defaults set to be cleared.
I use dxTop as a home screen replacement, but also have Open Home, and GDE installed as well. Every now and then, maybe once every other day?, when I press Home, it asks me which home screen app to use. I always click on the one I want (dxTop) and check the box that says use as default. It remembers it for a while, but it'll forget again.

Before I rooted my phone I was having the issue that, despite checking the "Use by default for this action" box, my phone just plain refused to save what homescreen app to go to when I tap the "Home" button.I've tried clearing the cache. I've done factory resets and data wipes (although I did restore "all apps with data" with Titanium Backup). I've tried using the Home Switcher app. Nothing works.Right now my phone is running the current version of BB, ChevyNo1's 1.0Ghz 5 slot update.zip for OC, and am using AdamZ's Smoked glass theme. I want to use the "HelixLauncher" app as my default homescreen, but it's rather obnoxious having to constantly select it when I hit the home button (it'll save my default action for a few clicks, and then I'll have to set it again).

If u look on the ear piece of the phone it looks like there is another light on the right of it. Do anyone know anything about changing the settings for this?

I have found the settings to adjust the delay on the screen itself blanking, but when using the phone in the dark, the backlight behind the home, menu, back, etc, keys turns off too quickly. I might be reading and email and want to go back, but by the time I have read it, the keys are dark.
Is there a way to adjust this setting?
Remove widgets from the home screen? I searched this forum and didn't see anything on it. I am a new owner and new to this forum and I LOVE my phone.
But it has shown me that I am not nearly as tech savy as I liked to think I was. I am a little overwhelmed with this phone.
I do not have a refresh button on my htc hero default web browser. A lot of people are stating it is on "menu" then the bottom left button but my bottom left button is "bookmarks" and no option to refresh page.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI Just installed the Dolphin browser instead of Steel as I was using before. So uninstalled Steel, but have a little problem now. When I press the search button on my home screen and search for anything, it opens the default browser and searches, and not Dolphin. How do I change this? Thought it would ask for which app it needed to execute the order with, as it did at other places it would go online, but not here. Has been in the manage applications and delete the default browser to be default, and inside settings in the dolphin browser and the check it to be default, but it does not work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I'm running android 2.1 on my Sprint Hero, but I want to disable the Sense UI so I can run the Android OS default home (just to check it out). Most of the things I've read online say to do the following...
1)settings
2)applications
3)manage applications
4)HTC Sense
5) Clear default
The only problem is, there is no default to clear. I can't even click on it and force close does not work.
The problem - when viewing a webpage such as craigslist, if I click into an ad and then go back to the previous page my location on the previous page always defaults close to the top of the page instead of that last link I clicked. This is a very annoying problem if your a hardcore craigslist junkie like me because you can be you have to scroll back thru all of the ads you looked at just to get back to where you originally were.
Trying to fix the problem using two kinds of soft resets, a hard reset, resets followed by reinstallations of 2.1 ,etc etc, I finally went to a sprint store to get it checked out and the rep had a Hero that did the same damn thing! Apparently he didn't have a problem with his phone doing this because he just kept giving me some dumb blank stare.
1.5 never had a problem with web pages forgetting their locations when using the back button. Yet I haven't seen anybody else complain about this. Is anybody else able to recreate this problem? One thing to look for, after I reset the phone, reinstalled 2.1 or cleared the internet cache, the phone will do fine for a few minutes, recognizing pages like its supposed to, but after usually 4-6 times of clicking links the phone goes right back to forgetting locations.
I upgraded to 2.1. With 1.5 I had a phone I loved that worked fine and the only problem I had was a laggy phone-book, now I have a phone with a laggy dialer and that doesn't do web pages correctly. BTW, it does this with all browsers, not just the stock browser and Dolphin.
I have just got my hero back from RMA with a new screen. (the old one was fubar). But now the back button is bringing me the homescreen. And not the last screen. So if I browse my settings, and go 4 screens in. I want the back button to bring me to screen 3 (like it used to), and not to the home screen.

Until it stops working again.
Anyone having the same issue? Anyway to resolve it?
If you press and hold the 'home' button for a second or two it brings up a list of your most used (I think) apps.

View 16 Replies View RelatedWhenever I am using any app and press the home button, the home screen blacks out for a few secs and it takes around 10 sec to get all the icons back and before I can start using my phone again. I am using a non rooted mytouch 3g.
This problem does not happen if I exit an app by pressing the back button. It becomes very annoying at times.
I have 3 activities in my app: Activity1 -> Activity2 -> Activity3. Inside Activity3, if the user presses Back, I would like to return to Activity2. In Activity3's onPause event, I added a finish() statement. That's probably not even necessary, but I wanted to make sure this Activity gets cleaned up. This works fine.
However, while in Activity3, if the user presses Home or starts a new app (through notification bar or some other means), I want both Activity3 and Activity2 to finish. If the user returns to this app, he should resume with Activity1.
I have figured out how to do one or the other, but I can't figure out how to handle both cases, if it's even possible. Can I trap the "Back" button in Activity3 and send a message back to Activity2 telling it not to finish()? It seems like the Activities follow the same lifecycle flow (Pause, Stop) regardless of what you do to send them to the background. Just to answer the question of why I want this behavior, imagine that Activity1 is a login screen, Activity2 is a selection screen, and Activity3 is a content screen. If I press Back from the content page, I want to be able to make a new selection. If I exit via any other means (Home, notification bar), I want the user to be "logged out".
My phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!
