Sep 6, 2010Does anyone know if it is possible to set default numbers in my phone for text messages and phone calls for individual contacts, please? I would like to set up the phone so it defaults to mobile phone numbers for text messages, so I don't accidentally try to send a text message to a landline.I have fiddled weith the phone for ages, but haven't yet found the option to do this.

Sep 25, 2010This just started happening lately. Every time I set my screen timeout to anything other than the default 30 seconds, it will just change itself back in a couple of minutes. I can't think of any apps I've installed recently that could possibly be causing this. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Nov 10, 2009On the HTC HERO handsend there is a setting for LED. I picked a different color to blink when I get a message but the green default light still blinks. If u look on the ear piece of the phone it looks like there is another light on the right of it. Do anyone know anything about changing the settings for this?

Every now and then, maybe once every other day?, when I press Home, it asks me which home screen app to use. I always click on the one I want (dxTop) and check the box that says use as default. It remembers it for a while, but it'll forget again.

Sep 28, 2010Does anyone know of an app that can record phone calls to certain numbers (where the phone numbers to record can be in the app). I need this for times I ring customer service and they tell me something, then deny saying it later on and ask me to provide proof (that they damn well know I don't have).
I did have a manual call recorder but I kept forgetting to record the calls, especially at times I really should have. Also preferably one that doesn't make a beep in the call, but not absolutely essential. If there is no app available as I explained, could someone please tell me an app that automatically records every call.
HTC Hero :: Want Phone Numbers Only?
Dec 17, 2009So, I recently switched from a G1 to a G2 Touch (Hero), and there is one setting that is driving me absolutely crackers. On my G1, in my contacts list, I could press menu and there was an option to "show only contacts with phone numbers," which meant that random e-mail contacts did not show up in the list. I cannot find a way to do this on my Hero, and I can't find an answer anywhere. I know there is a setting to tell it to not sync from Google, but I keep my numbers backed up there, so I DO want it to sync, but SURELY there is a way to set it up so that all of my e-mails aren't visible in my "people" list, short of copying every number to the phone and telling it to only look there?

Sep 2, 2010How come some of my contacts phone numbers are appearing all screwed up.In one part of the system they show up as 01######### etc, in another area they show up as 44######### but on Google they show up as 01 or +44 depending on the number but never without the + on the 44.Mainly on the mobiles they will not dial even though I have just texted the same number as the contact shows up correctly. If I try to phone the contact from Contacts I get a number incorrect message but if I phone from the sms I can call them?This has only happened since upgrading to 2.1 Orange carrier.

Aug 9, 2009I just installed fatal1ty's hero rom version 1.4 last night on my rogers magic(a version modified for 32a) and I have a couple questions about the different apps. First of all, is there any way to make it show only contacts with phone numbers? Every time I send a message with gmail, that email is automatically added to my contacts but I don't really want to see it there when I'm looking for phone contacts. It makes my list very long. I know I can do this with apps like aContacts but I want to use the HTC contacts app if possible. Second, I was playing some music and then my lock screen wallpaper suddenly decided to change to the album art. I assumed that it was supposed to do this but then after I stopped playing the music it stayed. I then changed the lock screen wallpaper but it did no good. Finally, how do I add words to my dictionary. The keyboard seems identical to the one that I had as a stock rogers magic except the "add word" button has disappeared.

Jan 10, 2010I've had my Hero for about 4 months now, and other than the battery issue (I do use it a lot) I'm pretty satisfied. However since Thursday last week, I've had the SAME phone number call me, have someone jabber at me, and then hang up! I looked up the area code, and it's in Jamaica! Today has been the worst, I've had 5 calls from that same number. Frankly its really started to get annoying. I called Sprint, and asked customer care if they can block that number from the account. And they can't do that. Apparently blocking that number is an infringement on their rights. On my Hero, I've been able to find that I can just push all those calls from that number to my voice mail, but I can't block it from my line altogether. Anyone else having the same or similar issue that has come up with another option?

Aug 30, 2010Whenever an unknown number texts me, my phone is adding random facebook contacts to those numbers. For example, Orange texted me and it came through as being from this guy who is a friend of a friend who i have on facebook. It adds his name and profile picture to the top of those texts though and it's really annoying. It also started doing it with a second person (totally unrelated to the first), this time for texts from my bank. What i have discovered is that on facebook they both have a line in their info which says 'Mobile Number: " but then no mobile number (shown in the picture below), so i presume they've both put a space there and for some reason my phone has taken this and linked them to these unknown numbers. I've deleted both "Facebook for HTC Sense" sync and "Facebook" sync (not desirable, because i like seeing peoples profile pics and birthdays in my phone contacts), but it still happens. I also tried unlinking the first person from all of the links it had made, but that didn't work either. I have a HTC Hero running 2.1.

Nov 18, 2011My Android based (Gingerbread) smartphone has a number of contacts with several phone numbers (home, work, mobile etc.) for each. When I call a contact the call goes through the mobile operator and I'm charged for the call by him.
I also have an an Asterisk-based PBX with a FCT (Fixed Cellular Terminal, or GSM Dialer or Fixed Wireless Terminal) connected to a VOIP provider that charges much less. If I prefix a phone number in Contacts with a fixed string (containing the mobile number to the SIM card in the FCT, plus some pause, plus the password to access the PBX's dial tone plus a bit more of pause) it works fine.
What I'm looking for is a way to have this standard prefix string stored somewhere and it be automatically padded at the beginning of each number dialed. Ideally, when dialing a contact I would be asked if I wanted to call with or without the standard prefix. Is that doable?
