Is there anyway to change the default programs that you have setup for different tasks as I wish to change my streaming media player from the default one that I have set to open when I stream media using Dolphin Browser from the standard one (I have clicked 'Always use this program to perform this operation' when first asked).

I have a couple of FLV format movies on my phone that play fine with the MX Player video app. The problem is, they are not associated with the player. For some reason, they were auto associated with ZA Archiver (winzip type app), so clicking on the vids in my file explorer triggers that app instead. Plus it opens to ZA's browser, meaning I'd have to browse to the vids again to try and open. At that point, ZA then asks what program I want to open them with. Clearing data on ZA didnt' work (How I thought you could remove file type associations), and uninstalling it removed all associations with the movies. It then just gives me an error that the files cannot be opened.
Is there any way I can force FLV's to always open in MX Player? I know I could use MX's built in browser to get to them as well, but just a personal preference thing that I want to use the stock file explorer.
Does anyone know how to modify/add contact associations? What I mean is when I open up a contact there are options to email, text or call them. I would like to add the option to facebook chat or aim them. When I add their aim account under contact info a bar comes up that says "chat using aim". However, when I click it nothing happens. Does anyone know of an app to add this functionality?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI first noticed a problem when trying to launch the Weather app on my 2.1 equipped Droid Eris. Had it for about a week now. The app crashes every time. Things I have tried:
- hard reset of the phone
- remove battery
- reset Sense to defaults
- cleared application data/cache from weather apps
I was going to try this last one again when I noticed something very very weird. When I got to Manage Applications, and click on "Weather" it actually takes me to the application info for Quickoffice! It now seems like all the weather apps (and some others) are messed up. If I click on "HTC Weather Wallpaper" it takes me to application info for Visual Voicemail. " HTC Weather sync provider" gives me app info for Clock Widget. If I click on Clock Widget, I get info for Mabilo Wallpapers (app from store). What the heck is goin on here....
Any suggestions on what to try? I have searched Google and the various forums extensively and cant find any instances of other people having this issue.
I have a coworker with an Iphone and one with a Droid and both can go to buzz.google.com but I cant on the Hero? I am thinking it has something to do with HTC web browser but not sure?Is there a way I can get the default browser on the Hero? Or just go to buzz.google.com?
View 40 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the site, hopefully be using it a lot now I have my HTC Hero.I've been tinkering with it for a couple days and had to re-format my micro sd card.This means I lost all the high-resolution pictures that come with the phone to use as desktops and whatnot.Can somebody please copy the files off their sd card, upload them somewhere and give me a link to them? or Can anyone tell me how to get pictures I have to look as good as the default ones on the hero do.

Had to disable the one notification supported by Handcent and now is only the default one on which when I click- the Handcent client appears. Once I quit from Handcent, the icon is still on status bar, altough I've read the sms and have to close it via "close notifications" button. How to get rid the default sms notification?

I can both send and receive emails, but I'm having some issues getting notified and receiving messages consistently. I have my update settings set to every 30 minutes, but often I will check the client only to see that it hasn't been updated for hours. Also, sometimes when I get messages there won't be an email notification or an unread count on the widget.

I had no default defined so that when I tapped a jpg file I got a popup menu asking which app I wanted to open it with. Someway or another I managed to check the box that says use this as the default and tapped the app before I could uncheck it. So now the built in picture viewer is set as the default and I would like to clear that so I get the popup box again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI switched from the default SMS to handscent SMS recently and I like everything but one little thing. When I get a text, two notifications appear in the top left corner. Once I answer the text, the handscent notification goes away, but the other mail notification will stay until I get another text message or clear all notifications. Is there a setting I have to change to only get one notification? Does this have anything to do with the fact that I had the popup message setting turned on so that every time I got a text a window popped up on my phone allowing me to answer the text much quicker than actually opening up Handscent messaging. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I just uninstalled it because of this reason, but if I can fix it, I would love to reinstall it and use it again.

I m trying to sync my contacts and calendar from outlook to my hero. i did it once, but after that, every time i connect my phone to the PC via the usb cable. the computer automatically connects it as a USB drive to the SD card which in turn does not allow me to connect for synchronization!...
is there a way to stop auto connect as USB drive? I need the phone to be in sync mode before i can start the htc sync app.

I went to add it back but I cannot find it. When I try to add the HTC weather map, it says there is no room - it wants to take up the entire screen.

When i open up the market app on my hero it shows an email address and asks for a pass word, does anyone know how to change that email address becausw i dont no the pass word, with this problem i carn't open the app market.

Am using the HTC Hero on 3 (UK) network - every now and again it decides to lose or update the voicemail number it dials when I press and hold the #1 key. View 2 Replies View RelatedThe default Browser application on my HTC Hero v1.5 just keeps coming up with the standard "Web page not available" page when I try to connect to any website. This happens when I use GSM, 3G, HSDPA or Wifi to connect.
I generally use Opera Mini to access the web and this works perfectly, it was only when I used the Dolphin Browser (to access a site that doesn't display properly in Opera) that I realised it wasn't connecting and coming up with this message, so I tried the default Browser and realised this had the same issue. I then tried Skyfire and this also did the same!
All other applications are fine and can connect to the internet perfectly well. As I said above the Opera Mini browser works perfectly but this may be to do with it proxying the data so therefore works slightly differently to all the other browsers.
So it seems like something is amiss with my settings / files that the default Browser, Dolphin and Skyfire use.
When I tap on the HTC Calendar widget, the HTC calendar opens to the view of the month. Is there any way to change the default so that when I tap the widget it opens up the agenda view?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI see lots of threads about getting reminders to go off, but I cannot figure out how to set the default for new appointments to have NO reminder. I can make an appointment and go down to reminder, scroll up to "none," but when I go to set the default reminder in the calendar I am offered 5 minutes and less. I don't want reminders, and I would prefer to have it default to none every time rather than having to go the extra step to set it to none. Is there a way to change the default to no reminder? I have set up my google calendar online to have none, but when I enter an appointment in my calendar it won't allow that.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI managed to get my own custom notification tune, but before the tune is played, there will be a short notification "beep" tone played first followed by my custom message tone, sometimes it comes after my custom message tune and it cuts away my custom tune to a halt. I can't seem to find that particular standard notification "beep" to delete away from being played whenever i get a message.
