View 6 Replies View RelatedA few days after purchasing my EVO, my Gmail account was hacked and is now being used for evil (spamming). Is there any way to change the "default" Gmail account on the EVO without performing a factory reset? What I mean by this is that the e-mail address that I entered into the Gmail "setup screen" (for lack of a better term) is now compromised. Is this a "boom goes the dynamite" situation, or can I change the phone's e-mail address without going nuclear?

I was in the default SMS ringtone settings as I wanted to separate SMS notification tone from the tone used for the other notifications and I accidently it to 'Facebook Pop' tone. Now I don't get the Samsung default 'whistle' tone on my Note 3 that I want and I don't know how to change it back. When I select the 'select ringtone' option just takes me to a memory folder paths and there is no sign of any of the default ringtones anywhere. I just want the factory ringtone back. Why does Google have to complicate things by taking you to the general folder paths just to select a ringtone? How to remove the Facebook Pop tone and get me back to the default whistle tone that I have selected in the system sound settings? There seems to be no way of accessing the device folders which appears in ES Explorer, there are only the external and internal memory folders available, making it impossible to access the default tone directly unless I copy it from the system folder via ES Explorer and paste it to a folder within the internal memory. Why can't Google allow direct access to default tones within the default SMS app in the ringtone selection pane? It seems like an obvious thing to do which the stupidly left out of even the latest OS. I'm running 4.3 Android.
P.S. it seems now that even in the system settings itself in the sound settings the default notification setting takes me to the same folder path rather than before where I could simply select from a small number of preinstalled notification tones. The call ringtones are unaffected and can simply select a ringtone without being taken to any stupid folder paths, but the notification setting is whacked because I dabbled with the SMS app settings. How stupid are the Google Android time, why can they do it as well as Apple?
Recently if I switch phone off I find that when I power it back up it keeps asking me which of my installed launchers to use as default.
how I can stop this? I rarely switch off phone and have ticked the make launcher default button but it still resets when rebooted.

While due to being very happy with my VillainROM 2.1 ROM working extremely well on my sim-free Hero since I downloaded it.
I'm now at the position where I have a sim-free Desire Z winging its way to me in the post. So ...
I want to revert my Hero to stock 2.1 (from HTC I guess), so that I can sell it before Christmas.
Is it simply a case of downloading the official 2.1 ROM from HTC and installing it using the HTC Sync app? Anything I should watch out for?
I have a UK 3 Hero and am running Screebl. I set the screen timeout for a minute but it keeps reverting back to 15 secs. I am changing the time in the phone's settings and Screebl's, but it keeps changing back.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of days back I updated the OS of my Samsung Galaxy S2 to the latest version but now it is lagging like crazy and the apps are starting to crash a lot. So I have decided to change back to the Gingerbread OS and I loved it in my S2.

Some issues are correctable through doing a factory wipe. Other issues can be corrected through reloading the image from Google's own factory image repository. However, some things (in particular the battery drain issue) seems to be an issue within 4.4 itself, and the only solution I've found has been to revert from 4.4 to 4.3.
So I'm posting this thread and asking the more knowledgeable users here on AndroidForums to post clear, concise directions for acquiring and flashing these devices back to the Google "factory image".
The reason I'm asking for the community to pitch in is that the instructions I've seen are kind of scattered, are not necessarily up to date, and they can and do vary depending on whether you're doing this with Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, or with Mac OS X, or with Linux.
I was able to re-flash my Nexus 4 in Lion back to 4.3, but I had to do editing of bash shell scripts and even then had to issue the execution of the appropriate shell script from the exact right spot or else it couldn't find the command, or couldn't execute the command. The directions on Google's site were incomplete, and the ones I found on various message boards seemed more like an author's "best guess" than authoritative "you can trust that this will work" workflows.
So I just purchased an incredible (couldn't resist lol).. And now I am trying to sell my droid on ebay (if anyone is interested let me know!), but whenever I used RomManager to revert back to stock image. I get an error and it fails. I have already ported my number over to my incredible, so I can only use wifi. So what other way is there to go back to stock so I can wipe the device and sell it. Or is there some other way that I am not thinking of? Something on the phone, like stock image I can flash through clockwork recovery and be done? (if so anyone have a link?)

I want to revert to the stock maps application so I can get updates through the market etc... is it possible to do this without having to reinstall the Rom all over again?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen I first bought my incredible, I was ecstatic about how well it performed and everything that it did. Aside from downloading a few apps, I had no desire to augment or root it.
When the 2.2 ROM came out, I have to admit, I was hesitant about installing it because I figured "why mess with a good thing" but my phone was insistent. Every time I unlocked it, it was telling me to upgrade, so finally I did.
I've been miserable ever since.
Apparently this new ROM made the touch screen extra sensitive. So much so that when I hold it (I am LEFT handed) it is constantly thinking I'm touching the home button and responds accordingly. This is because the way I hold it, the thumb side of my hand is near the home button and though it's not pressing it, just being near it, beside it, etc, is enough to trigger it. Even plugging in the phone to charge or link to the computer causes the home button to go crazy.
In addition to this, the camera, which I was so pleased with and took excellent pictures all the time under any circumstance, has now become sub-par. I don't care about 720dp video, I care about taking great pictures, which my Incredible used to do, but now it has problems with lighting, I'm constantly having to adjust the ISO instead of leaving it at automatic, and whereas it used to do fine with people in motion, now these shots are blurry 100% of the time.
This has led me to the conclusion that I need to somehow get my phone back to the 2.1 ROM.
Now, I've searched the forums and I've found two sets of instructions that seem to both be getting me to what I want.
One is
How to downgrade and root your DInc from 2.2 |
The other is
Unroot - The Incredible List
Considering I've never rooted my phone at any point and I'm trying to get back to the original 2.1 (unrooted) Incredible ROM that came with my phone, I was wondering which set of instructions is for me (or is there another I have not seen).
I also wanted to make sure that PB31IMG.zip is the ROM I'm looking for as both reference that same file. I want to make sure this will get me back to the original 2.1 where I want to be.
My second question is this, once I get back to 2.1, how do I keep my phone from wanting the upgrade? I do not want to go to 2.2 and if I recall, when the prompt came up, I only had the option to "Install Now" or "Install Later"... there was no "Do Not Install" option.
I would like to go back to 2.1 and STAY THERE without being pestered to upgrade every 5 minutes!
Just so you know, though I've never rooted a phone before, I'm not skittish about this process, I'm a network administrator, I've hacked windows mobile phones before and though this is Linux, I'm confident that given instructions, I can follow them correctly. In addition, I'm not the least bit concerned about the potential of losing all my data or apps or even "bricking" my phone. I know it's a risk and I'm prepared to take it.
i have a htc magic which i rooted and installed the 2.1 rom. played around for a few weeks and i miss the features i had before and it was making my phone really sluggish. i tried just flashing the factory ROM, Version 3.03.990.6, back into my phone. i ran the program on the computer, followed everything and waiting. half way through the process it tells me theres an error and cant continue. it whipped out my OS and i had to put 2.1 back on my phone. how can i revert back to 1.5? how can i revert it back to factory settings?

View 9 Replies View RelatedFor most contacts I have *82 in front of the number which will unblock my number because I have my caller ID blocked by default through Verizon. Because text messages will not work with *82 in front of the number I store the same contact without it and use that for texting.
My Droid when texting will sometimes replace the current number I am using with the *82 version even if I have deleted the *82 number for that contact. The only way I know this has happened is when the person I am texting says they did not received it or if I am texting someone who is also on Verizon network and the text delivery status will stay at pending.
I wrote a sample application which displays some test message using webview .The Application has two activities, one activity simply contains a button, when user click on this button , it launch another activity which display the test message on a webview .
I have set setInitialScale() of webview as 150, Now the issue is like, Normally webvbiew displays the content with the scale size 150 (as I set ) but some times it displays the contents with a scale greater than 150.
I overrided the onScaleChanged() function in webViewClient.
In normal case before drawing the content on webview I am getting onScaleChanged() callback ,with the value oldscale as 2 and new scale as 1.5. When issue occurs , I am getting two onScaleChanged() callbacks before drawing the content!!! ,at first I get the onScalechange() callback with oldscale as 2 and new scale as 1.5 , after that getting another onScaleChanged() callback with oldscale as 1.5 and new scale as 2.0 and hence it draws the webview with the scale 2.0 irrespective of setInitialScale() I have given in my application.
This issue happens only in the case if I set setInitialScale() to a value less than device's default webview scale. As per my understanding ,Every device has its own default Scale for webview based on their display property like .075 for ldpi and 1.5 for hdpi etc )
In my device defaultScale for webview is 2, and I set the setInitialScale() as 1.5(150)
normaly webview reset the scale from 2 to 1.5 before draw ( That is from defult to new value ) and it works fine
But some time after changing the scale to 1.5 it reverting back to 2. and issue occurs

I think I done something wrong with my rooted htc one X. I wanted to sell it and didn't think of doing harm when I deleted all the files off the phone and factory reset it. Lost my backups and I can't even boot it now anymore.
Found this [URL] .... and I'm wondering if it would be alright to follow that guide and hopefully get the phone to boot again?
I have a contact that is linked to a Google and a Facebook contact. Both have photos. If I open the contact, press the link and then press the drop-down that overlays over their image at the top-left, I can change the contact to use the Google picture - which I prefer.but the picture ALWAYS reverts to the Facebook one after a while. Why is this?I should note that the Google picture is not THEIR google picture in GTalk - it's one I uploaded for them.
