I managed to get my own custom notification tune, but before the tune is played, there will be a short notification "beep" tone played first followed by my custom message tone, sometimes it comes after my custom message tune and it cuts away my custom tune to a halt. I can't seem to find that particular standard notification "beep" to delete away from being played whenever i get a message.

How do you delete the default apps that you use? Like messaging? Nascar, Etc. I download a new messaging app and now getting messages in both applications.

itself, I still receive two sms notifications on status bar. Had to disable the one notification supported by Handcent and now is only the default one on which when I click- the Handcent client appears. Once I quit from Handcent, the icon is still on status bar, altough I've read the sms and have to close it via "close notifications" button. How to get rid the default sms notification?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, having lost my beloved G1 and having been told by my insurance that it was discontinued, I received an HTC Hero/G2 Touch in the post this morning, and I'm having serious issues with getting my custom notification tone to work.
I have placed the desired .mp3 file in media->audio->notifications, and it does indeed show up on my notification list in the settings menu. I have selected it, and it displays a lovely little green dot by its name.
HOWEVER. Every time I get a text, it still plays the stupid default tone. I've powered the phone on and off multiple times, deleted and re-copied the file, and yes, even tried applying it using the much-applauded Ringdroid app. The results are always the same. I can get it to show up. I can select it. I can, by all appearances, get it to set as my notification tone. But I can't make it sing "HAHAHAHA TRUMPETS" on cue as desired. I had no issue getting this same file to work on my G1 and am at a complete and utter loss.
I got the hero today and so far im stoked, the only question i have is i have a notification that wont go away, it says "SYNC - too many contacts deletes. then when u click on it it says "there are 255 deleted items for contacts account ******@gmail.com. What would you like to do? and it gives me 3 options, delete the items, undo the deletes, do nothing for now. ive tried all three options and the notification just comes right back.

In fact, no matter what I select for a notification tone, I always get the same little chime. Isn't this configurable? If so, why will it not use the tone that I have designated for "Notifications"?

My weather widget was reading 32 degrees all day yesterday and I noticed that the settings were changed to celcius. Often, if it is a spam email or a Google Voice reminder for a meeting, I want to just delete it, but instead I have to launch the respective program and delete it from there.

I use AOKP build 25 on my SGS and it worked perfectly before three days ago a new entry in my notification bar showed up and I can't get rid of it (see attached screenshot).
It's German, so in the upper line it says something like "Delete", and below "Text selection". When I click it, the system's memory usage is being opened but it's not going away.
Yesterday I noticed, that my Gmail doesn't sync even all settings are correct and haven't changed ever.
I cleaned a bunch of files with Titanium Backup and have have backups of the uninstalled apps which include my default gallery (I had another gallery app), Homescreen Launcher and some others.
By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!
