I've updated the to the latest roms and was hoping the camera would be better, does anyone know how to improve the camera on the Hero?
Also while I'm at it, I've been watching movies on the hero, is there anyway to increase the volume of the media playing through the phone? I had a samsung i8910 for a while and by a series of key presses we could up the gain and Head phone volume.

For those who don't know yet. The desires back cover has a camera lens protector made by very cheap plastic, that scratches very easily. When this happens, the pictures will have a "glowing", blurry, un sharp look. What I did was removing the piece of transparent plastic "lens protector" on the back cover and then used a small piece of screen protector and sticked it on the lenses. Even without it the chances you actually scratch the lens is virtually none. So now I have a hole in my back cover, but I dramatically improved my picture and video quality.

Every time I press it to use my camera it keeps lowering my ringer volume and when im in the camera mode(from app) it wont snap any pics, it just takes me back to my main page and lower the volume. Can anyone help me out?

I found the camera on my old iPhone 3GS much better in this department (although the picture quality overall was not as good). And I know that a phone is no replacement for a dedicated camera, but is there any way to improve the shutter speed/sensitivity to movement?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLet me start this off by saying today was my first time trying to root but I've read a lot about it. Anyways, I bought Easy Root this morning and rooted without any issues. Got Titanium and backed everything up. Got Rom Manager and downloaded Sapphire 1.0.0. I tried to install it, but when I tried to flash into Clockwork Recovery I was just brought to the regular recovery screen. Not realizing this at the time, I proceeded to wipe the phone and reboot. Obviously, it did not install the Sapphire Rom. For some reason, I figured I should just go back to stock android 2.2, so I did that. I still have the Superuser Permissions in my Apps, but when I go into Titanium, it says I'm not rooted. I even had it download a new version of BusyBox. I'm guessing this is because I went back to STOCK 2.2. Why do I still have the ninja icon, though? I can't download Easy Root because it's been removed from the Market. Is there some other way to give Titanium SU permissions?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've scoured Google and people are reporting similar problems but the solution suggested is not working for me. Anywho..I'm trying to get either Open Home or GDE. The problem of course, is that the app isn't on the Market. All there are are themes. I searched for "Open Home Full" and nothing. One of the suggestions online was to download "Barcode Reader" and use that while on a computer to scan the barcode on GDE's website. Of course, there is no "Barcode Reader" when I search the Market.
Why is this so difficult? What am I doing wrong? I remember when I had my G1, I was very easily able to install aHome a while back. I can't find ANY of these now!
My camera stopped working. When I click my camera application I get the message "The application camera (process com.android.camera) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". It's just a blank screen?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had my Hero for a few days. My prior phone was the Palm Pre. The pre was a great phone and when webos 1.40 came out, video recording was great. The downside of the phone is that it felt that I was holding an egg and the overall build was horrible. Not to mention that the screen would go funky if it was used for more than 5 minutes. I went with the Hero because I love HTC phones. I've heard so many great things about it. I have issues with taking pictures and recording videos with this phone. The picture quality is horrible and so is the video recording. I have only recorded one video...its of my 5 year old singing (25 seconds) and it looks like she is possessed! It appears that the phone cannot keep up with movement. I know it doesn't have a flash and I know how to adjust the settings. Even in bright light everything appears washed out. Are there any fixes or 3rd party apps that could resolve this? Will the new 2.1 update improve things?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Hero has the latest ROM and is running on O2. when i get an MMS, the picture quality is terrible. i have been sent MMSs from different phones (inc. iphone) and different networks. The pictures look great on the phones on which they were taken, but appear low resolution when received on my hero. I can't find any setting to increase the quality. I do notice that when I open the received photo in albums, it is super tiny. So it looks like the Hero (or Android) is shrinking them. Are there some settings I can change? I can't find anything that appears relevant. Or else an app that will help?

I'm sorry if this has already been asked. But i already searched. Every time i make a video it has horrible quality and the sound quality is horrible too. A 5mp camera should be able to have very good quality don't you think? My friend has the i phone and i'm pretty sure its not better than 5mp and its video quality is amazing.

I spent the whole day at airports going from Pittsburgh to Denver to see the Steelers beat the Broncos tonight and I still had 25 % battery after multiple calls, dozens of texts and surfing the web for many hours. I also used handscent for sms. The autobacklight is set very bright. I am trying to find a good app to add as a widget to quickly manually adjust the brightness. I found one but it did it in too big of steps.

I have see others stating that a Class 4 or even Class 6 card on the Euro HTC Hero has improved performance by 400%. Its 10000% more convenient than going up top to the lock/sleep button (especially on the droid which feels kinda awkward to get to) So my question is, are there any apps out there, or any settings, that will make it so i can wake up my phone by pressing either the volume rocker or the camera button or maybe something that keeps the home key awake?

I tried using the dispatchKeyEvent(KeyEvent event) method, but it doesn't prevent the phone from waking up.
How else can I disable that functionality?
Not crazy about the placement of the power button. Is there a way to remap the volume or camera buttons to wake the phone? And yes, I've seen the "No lock" thread, but I still want the phone to be somewhat difficult to accidentally unlock. What would be perfect would be a double click of one of the other buttons to waken and unlock the phone. Is this possible? Maybe it's a root thing?
