I keep losing my 3g signal. it started when i switched to wifi mode. then when switching back to 3G the 3G signal never came back on. After a reboot 3g returned. now this afternoon my 3g signal just dis appeared on its own. anyone else having the same issue? maybe my phone is finally dying.

The problem just started this friday, im with t-mobile but im roaming on at&t towers... I haven't dropped the phone or damaged it in any kinda way...
I have had my desire for about 3 weeks now on O2 contract, and have an annoying problem.I appear to lose signal intermittantly, and end up with a little grey 'x' by my bars. However, this then STAYS like this even when I am back in a normal area, sometimes for hours before I have even noticed that reception was lost.The only way that I have found to get reception back is to power off my phone and restart it.I have called o2, and the only advise they had for me was to remove the sim card and 'give it a little wipe',
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo last night i had my phone sitting on my dresser while i watched the dodger game about 2 hours later when i picked it up and attempted to check face book, it kept giving me error messages. Convinced that this was another stupid FB error i went to surf the web only to say I was not connected to a network. I looked at the top of my phone and i had 3 bars but next to there bars there was no 1x or EV signal just the bars. I went into my settings and un clicked the mobile network and then clicked it again and it worked This has happened to me about 4 or 5 times since i owned the hero since December. Anyone have any similar stories or explanations? Also sometimes it seems that when my phone is sleeping, i wont get text messages until i unlock it?

Even my wifi signal will disappear leaving me with no internet and I will need to disable and re-enable wifi to reconnect.

I have tried using a bunch of different ones and have noticed that the non-sense Rom's tend to have much weaker signal than the sense Rom's. Any ideas as to why that is? I have never had much of signal in my house, but there seem to be a lot of times that I have no signal (when i used to at least have 1 bar stock) depending on the ROM I'm using at the time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI can get a few minutes of 4G signal at my home per day, but when it drops out and 3G takes over, the signal will flatline and boot me offline. My 3G speeds are usually around 56-150Kbps or less, and my 4G speeds are around 2.5 Mbps What would cause this ? According to WiMax location sites online, my nearest 4G tower is .52 mile away. I would think that if I actually get 4G signal, then 3G would be constant. Turning off 4G doesn't help either. Is there some setting that I could have turned off that would cause this ? Running stock EVO on 2.2 all the latest updates

Just the default ringtone every time.Any ideas/thoughts? Doesn't seem to be a big enough issue to cause a stir yet, thus I haven't seen any helpful threads on the subject.

Which ROM do you think gives you the best battery life without losing too much in operation speed.
Or is there better ways to save battery. I have turned off quit a bit of items that run in the background.
I want to reach out to others here before I take my Moment back to Best Buy to exchange it for another Moment.
My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?
Am I the only one who has trouble with PDaNet Free Edition losing connection about every 20 to 30 minutes?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen i use a file manager to install and apk file.when im finished with it when i uninstall i notice it doesnt free up all the memory it took?for example.earlier i installed spiderman game, i cant remember exact numbers... but phone memory before was say 75mb free. installed and it went to 68mb.when i uninstalled it.. my phone memory only went back up to 70mb as i said example so numbers arent right but thts the main idea. so where is this memory going as i can eventually see my memory being taken up by small parts of apps tht are no longer on phone.how do i free it all back up without hard resetting as i dont wanna have to go throuh the whole restoring everything again.

What may be the problem or solution?
I use dxTop as a home screen replacement, but also have Open Home, and GDE installed as well. Every now and then, maybe once every other day?, when I press Home, it asks me which home screen app to use. I always click on the one I want (dxTop) and check the box that says use as default. It remembers it for a while, but it'll forget again.

Has any one else experienced this? Any fixes? I just installed the 2.1 Upgrade1 on Saturday right after first turning the phone on.
Is there anything I can do to get a better signal? I have one 3G bar all the time no matter where I am. I tried a *228 option 2 and it didn't help. Any other codes or suggestions. It is my 2nd Eris and I know Verizon wont take back a "low signal" phone.

Since then, when I use the Navigator the GPS has had a problem connecting. Sometimes it searches for a GPS signal for almost 30 minutes. I'm in the heart of Denver and have not had this problem before the update. Did anyone else update and are now having connection issues?

So I went back to EvilEris and it worked for a little while, then yesterday stopped working again. So I re-flashed xtrROM4 and it worked all night and this morning. Now it's gone again. Can't make a call, send a text, get online, nothing.
I'm at work, and I never had the 'best' signal, but I'd go by a window and be fine. Now nothing, no matter where I go.
I've had this Eris since January and was surprised when I began reading in the Eris forums about various issues, ongoing bugs and problems with signal reception, etc.Mine exhibited nothing other than solid, reliable behavior on 1.5 and again after the OTA came to our devices.After rooting, that same reliability and concrete behavior continues, with one exception: on my now favorite ROM, XTR 2.1.1, the signal quality has dropped to near nothing, even to the point of truly nothing; zero bars and 1g rather than my usual 3g and two or three sometimes 4 bars.Recovering to Senseable 3.1 the signal quality returns to normal.Has anybody else seen any differences from ROM to ROM wrt signal strength?

View 6 Replies View RelatedNo matter where I am I NEVER get more than 2 bars and more often than not, there's only 1 bar! Really? I'm not convinced it is only cosmetic. I seem to get most of my calls, but occasionally they go through to voicemail even though I've got the phone right next to me. It is so frustrating to be in the house with no signal! I always had at least 3 signals in my house.
Has anyone contacted Verizon about this? It is the only thing bothering me from 2.1 upgrade. Other than that I find the phone is truly awesome, but it IS a phone! However, I'm afraid to call Verizon tech people who always seem to go through the basics without any real regard to your issue, and have the screw up the phone with some random setting they want to try.
I have had my Eris for a week or so and am getting concerned about it's reception. I am noticing the bars will fluctuate wildly while sitting at my desk in an area that has great Verizon coverage! I am looking at my Signal Strength and it is flipping from 89 dBm 12 asu to 0 dBm 0 asu without even moving the phone! What is going on?? Do I have a bad device, or is this normal? It seems my signal is only 1 to 2 bars most of the time, giving me around -86dbm. Sometimes it will be 3 bars, then it drops to one or none. Wondering if this is killing my battery too. Is there some update that fixes this? Or some test to perform if whats happeneing is normal or what?
